ishra special delicacy- fourth story

Raman was thinking for the past few weeks of how he was going to confess his feelings to his wife. His day started and ended with her and her thoughts...he could not concentrate on his work anymore nor could he sleep peacefully with her under the same roof. Initially he tried to hide his feelings not wanting to disturb whatever rapport they already shared ...But, now he was sure that he didn't want to hide it anymore, he was really in love with her and wanted to take their relationship forward. He knew she also cared for him but didn't know till what extent she wanted to go in their relationship. But the more he tried to put across the signal to her, the more he understood that his wife was too naive to understand his twisted tactics...

As far as raman understood, she was happy being just ruhi's ishima...sometimes he felt unless until he tells her on her face that he wants a physical relation with her and not just her care and concern, she would never understand. All they had done till now was fighting and arguing ...raman thought maybe his taunts and rude behaviour was what kept her away...He decides to be sweet to her from now on...but things take a worst turn for him as then they had nothing to talk about... She became more and more engrossed in her mommy avatar... Afterall there was nothing to lecture him about. He was exactly what she wanted him to be...loving and responsible to ruhi, sweet to her and to all of the family, stopped drinking, came home early and spent time with ruhi...

Ishu had applied for a PhD course in London before their marriage and she received their call informing her about her selection. She also got a mail from them telling her to join within one month. The mail included hostel facilities, air ticket details and almost everything which a person wanted to know. She becomes happy that she got such a good opportunity but also knew she could not make it. She kept the reply pending, she could not leave her ruhi and raman and go away...

Ishu was happy seeing him in good mood these days. Little did she know all his smiles and dreams were filled with her. Her expectations from raman as her husband had started to grow but after the fake confession she had suppressed it in her heart for ever and decided to never expect anything... she thought maybe she really wasn't his type, he was forced into this marriage and he had honestly told her that he can never accept her in that way... so maybe it was impossible for him to fall for her...She had been proposed by quite a few guys in college but then she was already in a relationship with subbu. She could not digest the fact that her husband whom she loved this much didn't find her attractive enough to share a husband-wife relation. Her heart ached the more she thought about it. It hurt her when her sisters shared stories of their married life. She tried her level best to control her feelings towards him and with lot of effort she gets herself accustomed to the fact that Raman can never be interested in her as a woman and learnt to be happy with what she had...

For the past few weeks, ishu met shagun regularly while going to leave ruhi to school. She could notice a visible change in shagun... she cared for ruhi and often asked ishu whether she could spent time with ruhi. Ishu felt uncomfortable seeing shagun getting close to ruhi. But she suppressed her insecurity and went along with them for ice-cream, to park etc...Shagun shared certain stories of how she and raman had a perfect family life, how raman loved her like crazy and how foolish she was to spoil everything... Ishita could only listen helplessly of how her husband was head over heels in love with his ex-wife... Something she could never experience. Ruhi was excited with all the attention by shagun and also enjoyed adi's love and affection for her. She once mentioned to ishu of how she had always dreamt about her mom returning and all 4 of them living like happy family again before she met ishita. Little ruhi was unaware of the hurt caused to her ishima with those words ...

Differences had crept up b/w shagun and ashok ... adi realised his mistake of trusting ashok. He called raman to apologize and from that day maintained a healthy relation with raman. Raman took adi and ruhi out on weekends and sometimes ishu too joined them. With each passing day her pain and insecurity increased. Once after a tiring day at clinic she went along with sarika to have coffee only to find raman-shagun-adi and ruhi already there, enjoying themselves... before she knew tears started rolling down her cheeks which was noticed by sarika too. They left without having coffee... ishu asked raman about the day and he never mentioned going out with shagun and kids.

As days passed shagun started openly wishing of getting back raman in her life... she tried to convince ishita that both her kids needed their parents equally and she had spoke to raman too. Adi requested ishita to help their family re-unite. He informs ishu that his dad had promised him the same. Shagun had realised her mistake and really wanted raman back in her life. She and adi tried everything to get ishu to agree to them... Ruhi formed a good bond with shagun and adi and even stayed overnight at their place once... They tricked ruhi saying that her papa and ishima needed time together and that she needed to give them some time for themselves... Though ruhi could not sleep without her ishima, she agrees just for her parents sake...

Ishita was losing grip of her senses and her only blessing in life - Ruhi also was drifting away from her... The day Ruhi stayed with shagun, ishu cried her heart out... She was losing everything and she felt helpless. All family members including iyers were away to chennai and only Raman and ishita was left at home... Raman was excited to know they were alone today and decides to confess and propose to her. He leaves office early, get few gifts for her including a diamond ring and heads home... He had revised his lines of how he was going to propose her umpteen number of times over the past weeks... He was apprehensive of her reply but prayed and hoped it to be positive. He knew he would not be able to handle her rejection... With his heart hammering in his chest he reaches home to find ishu sitting in bedroom in the dark. She senses his presence and quickly wipes away her tears...

Raman goes to her and tells her he need to talk to her about something serious. She turns around to face him... raman becomes concerned seeing her face all reddened up due to crying. He asks her the reason but she just brushes it off saying it is just headache... He takes her hand and makes her sit on the bed and settles beside her... He fumbles for a starting choosing each word carefully... Just as he starts about their marriage she thinks he is going to tell her what adi wanted... She shoots up from bed and jerks her hand away from him. Raman becomes shocked by her behaviour and gets up worried. Ishu decides she will not let him say what he wanted to. She did not have the strength to hear her husband telling her to leave him... that was the last thing on earth she wanted to hear and literally shuddered at the thought. Raman gently placed his hand on her shoulder worried seeing her restless and tense. She leaves the room quickly telling him she was sleeping overnight at Iyers place as she had to read for tomorrow's surgery. Raman was left open-mouthed in their room trying to register what just happened. He felt she needed rest and he will talk to her tomorrow morning. Both had sleepless night thinking about the other...

Ishita gets a dream of both raman and ruhi telling her to leave them so that they could get their family back. Ishita wakes up all flustered and checks her mail to see the date of her supposed travel. She realises it is the same day and she has to leave in the evening. Ishita gets all disturbed and goes to meet shagun early morning. She finds ruhi sleeping peacefully with adi... she goes and kisses her on her forhead and tells a silent good-bye to her... Shagun asks her what she decided... ishu tells she is leaving for London today evening and makes Shagun promise to take good care of ruhi and raman too... with a heavy heart she leaves with a last glance at her princess. All she could think was; she was not destined to be a mother and a wife... It may be the reason her husband could never love her. She did not want to cling onto him till he tells her to leave... and she also did not want to be the reason for separating him from the only love of his life -shagun... He was young and deserved a normal life and if she could not give him the happiness as his wife, he had every right to get it from shagun...the fact being their marriage was just a contract for him... The day passed fast for her as she was busy making alternative arrangements in her clinic, packing etc... Raman on the other hand found her missing from morning and called her clinic to be informed that she was busy. He decides to tell her to take a few days off and relax. He planned an outing for them and ruhi for 2-3 days in Goa before their family returned...

He reaches home early to find the door locked from outside... He calls her clinic to be informed she left early... Raman unlocks the door and goes inside... He freshens up and decides to wait for her... He goes to the couch and lie down on her pillow. A smile played on his lips when he inhaled the intoxicating smell of her shampoo... He gets up to decorate their room with candles to surprise her... just as he reach their dressing table he notice a letter on it... He smiles as he starts reading..."Dear Raman,

Ohhoo Love letter!!!!!!!! He smiles to himself before reading further...

As he reads through his smile fades away and gets replaced by tears flowing down his cheeks... Slowly he sinks down on their bed unable to comprehend what he just read and what made her take such a drastic step... everything was made crystal clear in the letter, how she knew he was not over shagun, how shagun has changed, how she wanted him to accept shagun again, live as a family together... take good care of ruhi... She had also told him to take extra care of ruhi even if adi starts living with them. She wished him a healthy and peaceful life towards the end... He could see marks of her tears which had faded the writings in many places... Before he could process his thoughts his phone rang... It was shagun's number... irritated he picks up to hear ruhi sobbing blabbering something in between... she asks him about ishita and asks whether she left them... she kept asking him whether what shagun is telling is true or not... raman makes ruhi understand that it is a lie and her ishima will never go away from her... he convinces ruhi that they will bring ruhi home together. Raman makes ruhi promise not to cry and be a good girl...

After disconnecting the call, he recalls the events which unravelled in the past one hour... He opens their cupboard to see most of her clothes missing and all other clothes neatly folded in a bag... Almost all her personal items were either missing or neatly packed... His grief and disbelief started getting replaced by seething anger... "how dare she!!!!! Ishita, you are going to regret this decision big time. I will never forgive you for doing this to me and for making ruhi cry... Wait till I give you a piece of my mind''

He frantically search for any clue of where she had gone... He checked her suitcase, their draw everywhere... He got nothing. He called sarika who informed him that she had referred all her cases to another doctor and asked them to contact her by e-mail if any need arises... Before cutting the call she tells him about the restaurant incident, of how she had cried seeing them together... Raman did not know what to think about her but got irritated the more he thought about it. She feels I still love that useless woman when I was having sleepless nights thinking about her... He called almost all travel agencies he knew to find out about her... all in vain. He goes to iyer house and opens it with the keys hanging in their house. He checks her room but could not find anything useful... Just as he was about to leave dejected, he notices her computer and turns it on... He switched on the net and opened her mail... she had forgotten to log out and finally he found the mail...He confirmed whether she had taken that flight itself. Without wasting time he booked ticket to London for next day morning itself.

He had no problem in locating her hostel as address was given clearly in the mail... He reached her place late at night the next day. Ishu was crying from the moment she returned back after submitting her admission papers... her tears failed to stop, she hugged raman and ruhi's photo and wept. She was jolted by the sudden ringing of her doorbell... She quickly wiped her tears and opened the door to get the shock of her life... There stood her husband in front of her... "Raman!!" She whispered... Fresh tears pricked her eyes and blurred her vision... without a second thought she flung her arms around his neck and hugged him tightly... All his anger threatened to melt away seeing her in such a vulnerable state. Before he lost himself he forcefully freed himself from her hold and stepped back... She stared at him with tear shot eyes... He closed his eyes before telling her... "Ruhi is not well"

Shocked she clutched his shirt shaking him..."what happened to ruhi???"

Raman replies ..." plz be kind enough to come with me...She is having high fever and she needs you badly... She is a small child who is inconsolable for being separated from her mother ...who...who pretends to love her... She is too young to understand your mind games"

Ishita sinks down on the floor burying her head in her hands... "Ruhi...mera bachha" this was all he could decipher from her words... Sympathy was the last thing he felt for her... he felt she deserved every bit of those tears for her stupidity... Raman was partly lying... ruhi didn't have any fever but, she was upset... He could not think of a better reason to get this stubborn woman to listen to him... She frantically got up and pleaded him to take her back home... they both left London together in the next flight...

They took a taxi home and reached by 4 pm. Ishu rushed upstairs without waiting for raman only to find the house locked. Raman quickly followed and opened the door and ushered her inside... A confused ishita entered the house to find raman behind her. "Raman, where is ruhi???" Raman stared at her coldly and told "ruhi is fine and she is with shagun..." Her tears got slowly replaced by disbelief and anger... "You lied to me Raman??? About Ruhi???"Wait... You did all this drama to bring me back??? She shook him vigorously holding his shirt collar... "yes!!! I did" he shouted. He removed her hands and took her to their bedroom and locked the door.

"What are you doing raman, why did you bring me back... why are you doing this to me" she cried... "I had written everything in the letter... then why you are doing all these... you can start afresh with shagun and your children... I will never interfere in your life !!!!!!!!!

He grabbed her by elbows and pulled her to him "how dare you Ishita!!! How dare you talk to me like that... who the hell are you to tell me what to do and what not to in my life... you have no respect for our relation... you don't value ruhi's love for you... you are making me feel sick!!!!!!! What shit have you written in that letter and don't you dare repeat all those nonsense again... He took her letter from his pocket and tore it into pieces and threw it on her face... This is my answer to your letter!!! Now get one thing clear in that pea-sized brain of yours... you are married to me, I brought you here as ruhi's mother and you will...I repeat...I will make sure you will live here...with me and ruhi till I'm alive...I don't care whether you like it or not... With that he pushed her away and went to shower not forgetting to lock the door from outside...

When he returned he found her waiting for him... "raman, we need to talk." He snubs her off telling her to freshen up so that they can go to bring ruhi back. She leaves for a quick shower and returns to find him sitting in their living room... "get ready fast... he ordered. Ishita left with no choice goes into their bedroom. He could not get over the fact that his wife still thinks he loves his ex... Not able to control himself he marches into their room and asks her what she wanted to talk about...

Ishita felt afraid seeing him in anger ...but she poured her heart out. "Raman, this may have come as a shock to you...but I took this decision after a lot of thought. I have seen for myself how shagun changed, she deeply regrets leaving you... she still loves you... And adi, he needs his father, he cried in front of me to let his parents unite... you know I love ruhi more than my life but I don't want my love for her to keep away adi from his father, ruhi from her brother and above all you... I don't want you to live a loveless marriage just for the sake of it. Shagun told me how you were crazily in love with her... I know you still care for her... its natural, she was your wife for 6 yrs, gave you two precious children. I know what she had done is wrong but still, she has changed and expect you to accept her... When you told, you wanted to talk to me that day I understood you were trying to tell this... but I...I just could not get myself to listen that from you... "

Ruhi also bonded well with shagun, she will not miss me... even if she does you are there right!! Love her for me too... Raman, I don't want to bind you down in the name of our marriage... it was for the sake of ruhi... just a contract ... I wanted to protect ruhi from you... but now I realise there is no role for me in your life or in ruhi's life. You are free to live your life on your terms... I will be fine... It is just a matter of time...When subbu left me after 12 years of our relationship, I had accepted the fact that no man could love a woman like me who cannot give him the happiness of a child. All the love subbu had for me for all those years just vanished with the news of my infertility... But I understand and respect his decision now... Afterall he was just behaving like any other normal human being... Just like that I respect your feelings too...

Raman listened to her without even a flicker of his eyelid... he could not believe the woman who had been living with him for the past one year, the women whom he loves more than his life now, had such misconceptions about him... His anger reached new heights listening to her lecture... what does she think about me??? I love shagun!!! This woman really thinks so???This is what I get for loving her more than anything else. I respected her feelings, wanted to give her space and time in our relationship, controlled my desires and needs just for her... for the past many months I was struggling with my desires, my feelings, my love for her... and what do I get in return... She standing right in front of me and asking me to go ahead and marry that bi***...and look at her audacity... praising her ex and talking about her past love-life in front of her husband... Is she for real???Does she have no feelings for me???

She needs to understand I'm her husband and what rights I have on her... "ishita, its true...I love her... I am thankful to you for doing all these but... how can I forget we are married... It will be against my principles if I go ahead and live with shagun in spite of being married to you... Now that you have decided to separate there is no point in wearing this mangalsutra and sindhoor anymore... just remove it. And lets make it legal too...

Ishita was shocked and tried to turn away... Raman caught her by hand and pulled her back... come on, remove it... I can help you if you want... he raised his hand to her chain. She jerked his hand away... No!!!!!!!! I mean ... you don't need to worry about all these... Raman smiled inwardly seeing his plan hitting in the right place... "ishita, I'm the one who tied it... I will remove it for you. She pushed him away with tears rolling down her eyes... "What happened ishita, you wanted this right?... or did you change your mind?... Come on..." He moved closer to her and held her chain again...

She tried to resist but he pulled as if to break it and in the heat of the moment she slapped him hard... Both were equally shocked at what happened... Stay away from me Raman!!!...He could feel burning of his skin where she slapped him...He fumed with anger..."How dare you!!!!" All the frustration which was bottled up in him broke loose... He grabbed her by waist and pulled her to him...and kissed her hard on her lips... After the initial shock, she tried to resist... but his strong arms only grew tighter and he pressed her body to his almost suffocating her... His harsh onslaught on her soft lips made her feel dizzy but he held her against him firmly... Left with no choice she stopped struggling when he continued kissing and biting her lips... Finally when he freed her, she was too numb to recall what happened and why it happened... Now that he had started, he could not resist himself further... he was not sure whether what he wanted to do further was out of his love for her or his desire or his anger... but he didn't care anymore... He wanted her badly... and he had waited enough...

He took her in his arms and carried her to bed... She tried to resist by hitting him and pushing him away. "Raman!!! What are you doing... leave me!!! You can't force yourself on me... you don't have any right on me and don't try to take out your anger this way... leave me!!!"...She screamed between tears. Her words only increased his determination. He forced her down on the bed by holding her arms on either side..." I have no right on you???... really???... If that is what you think after 7 months of being married to me, then it is high time I correct it..." He forcefully kissed her lips and jawline... grazed her long slender neck with his lips...She tried pushing him away but he pinned her down under his weight...Her eyes widened as he unbuttoned her kurti... as his eyes trailed down from her face to her neck and down further he could see her heaving chest with generous view of her bosom... Whatever sanity was remaining in his mind was also lost...

Her struggle had become weaker and as he bent down to kiss her again he heard her sob... He looked at her face again and look on her face shook him from within... she had her eyes tightly closed and tears rolled down her face... her lips were swollen and he could see red marks on her arm where he held her... All his anger melted away and his mind filled with guilt... He cursed himself mentally for hurting her... He had always wanted her but not like this... He wanted her to accept him as her husband and give in to him out of love ... Now he felt he had done irreparable damage to their relationship. He had tried to claim her even without confessing his feelings... As his grip loosened on her and she could not feel him anymore she slowly opened her eyes... Their eyes locked for a long period and she could see his eyes well up with tears... He let go of her and slowly sits up on the bed...

She was too confused to think straight... seconds before he told he loved shagun and that he wanted divorce and now... what she saw in his eyes was a complete opposite expression. She knew it was her mistake slapping him but he had also reacted the same way impulsively... A part of her wanted to be angry with him for his behaviour but the way he freed her and the tears in his eyes told a complete different story. Raman sat on the edge of the bed facing away from her... he brushed his hair with his hands and closed his eyes tightly... What have I done? She is never going to forgive me for this!!! As if reading his thoughts, she placed her hand on his shoulder and squeezed him gently... "its OK raman... I'm sorry too... its not your fault... I understand."

He was shocked hearing her words. He had expected her to blast him for touching her and here she was apologizing to him... this woman never fails to amaze me he thought... He felt a new hope and determination of setting things right between them. He turned around to look at her... Her face was reddened and lips swollen , her kajal had made black patches on her cheeks but in spite of all these she looked divine and beautiful... He took her hand in his and gently stroked her arm where he had held her, fighting back tears... I'm sorry, my dear... I'm really sorry ... The way he said it and the dear' word... it strengthened her doubts...

He moved close to her and stared deeply into her eyes..."Do you love me Ishita?" She was taken by surprise by his unexpected question... Raman pulled her closer and asked again... "Don't you have any feelings for me? Does our relation mean nothing to you? She could see genuine feelings in his eyes... How can you be so foolish enough to believe I still love that woman? I agree she was part of my life... I had loved her then ...sincerely... but it is my past. She doesn't matter anymore... she may have changed for good, she can go take a dip in the holy gangas or go to meditate in the Himalayas for all I care... She was a part of my life and I cant change it even if I want to... Dont you think I have suffered enough due to my past... Don't punish me for something which happened even before we met... You want me to live with her for the sake of adi... but adi is already in his teens and he will hopefully understand me one day... and about Ruhi, you still have no idea... Ishita, I know it was my mistake all the way ... I never let you know what I felt for you... For the past few months I was struggling to get hold of my senses when around you... I was thinking of ways to tell you my feelings. I even tried the other day but you felt I was going to ask you to leave me... How do you always manage to gather the opposite of what I feel?

She knew what was coming but didn't have the patience to wait further... She raised her hand to his lips and told... "Enough of your lecture Raman!!!... Can you cut it short and come to the point..." There was both impatience and hope in her eyes as she stared deeply into his eyes... He slowly removed her hand from his lips with a smile and whispered... "In short... I love a crazy woman with whom I want to spent the rest of my life, who can add spice to my life inspite of being boring herself, who can irritate me like hell that I feel like shutting her up by kissing her senseless, who can make me hate and love her at the same time, who is beautiful inside out, who can make any man go weak in his knees...and I'm lucky that she happens to be my wife..." Without waiting another second she threw her arms around his neck hugging him tightly... I hate you Raman!!!!!!!! He tried to move back to look at her face shocked... What!!! She hugged him tighter and continued ... I hate you for not telling me this before... I love you too... I cant live without you and Ruhi. I have always loved you and wanted you to love me too. I'm sorry for everything...

Raman pulled back from her and said..."You should be... After all that you have done, you ought to be sorry... This is what irks me about you... you consider yourself as some god sent angel who can set right everyone's life. Bewakoof... Don't know why I fell in love with such an annoying girl... She pouted her lips in fake anger and leaned to hug him. "Ishita...Wait... I need to make some things very clear. I brought you back as my wife... you are first my wife, then ruhi's mother. This marriage is about us first and then ruhi... and... and...don't ever talk about that loser madrasan subbu in front of me... I don't like it...I know you are over him but I don't want him even in your memories... She looked at him with a mischievous grin... "someone is really possessive... but I love it"

He hugged her tightly and kissed her... "Don't ever leave me!!! I won't survive... I need you with me till my last breath... I love you my dear!!!!!!!! After years they found peace ... they found eachother... not as Ruhi's parents but as two broken souls finding solace in each other. Raman was the first one to break the hug... he cupped her face and kissed her forhead and gazed down at her lips... Ishu, Can I kiss you? She blushed and nodded shyly and moved closer. He stroked her face and chin while telling... "say it... I want to hear it from you" She leaned forward and kissed his lips whispering... "make love to me Raman." He chuckled at her words and kissed her hungrily ... "you never fail to amaze me, pagal madrasan!!! They made passionate love leaving aside all inhibitions completing each other in true sense... When finally both were exhausted they fell back on bed short of breath with their hands and legs intertwined... He shifted a little to relieve her of his weight and looked into her eyes... tears flowed from her eyes as she smiled at him... he kissed away her tears and promised to himself to always keep her happy... I love you Mrs Ishita Raman Kumar Bhalla!!! He whispered with his lips touching the crook of her neck. She smiled as her hands ruffled his hair lovingly... "I love you too Raman."

They slept in each others arms to be awakened later by the ringing of doorbell... she got up to find herself naked wrapped up in his arms... He looked at peace and she couldn't help but give a small peck on his innocent face... Raman!!! Get up!!! someone is ringing the door bell... He asked her to be quiet and pulled her closer to him ... Both were wide awake when the door bell rang again continuously... Raman got up irritated ...Hell man!!!!! I'm going to kill that person. Can't they just leave when no one answers the bell... She smiled at him as he put on his clothes... you are so short-tempered and impatient Raman... it may be something important... He rolled his eyes at her... Ya right, I'm the one who is short-tempered? Thats why I slapped you!!!!!! And we both now know who is impatient... he said with a mischievous smile. Her face blushed as she got up clutching the sheet to cover herself... Raman!!!!!! Stop it!!!. The door bell rang again as he left the room telling her... "put on some clothes... don't embarrass me in front of others" She threw her pillow at him scolding ... "ravan kumar!!! kabhi nahi sudrenge!!! He blew her a kiss before closing the door behind him...She smiled to herself thinking of how her husband managed to save their relation in his own unique way...

Raman opened the door to find an irritated shagun holding ruhi who was crying uncontrollably... Ruhi ran into his arms and asked him about her ishima... "Papa, shagun mama is telling ishima left to London and she will never come back... Papa, she does not believe when I told her ishima will never leave me... Papa I'm afraid!!! I want to see my mama now itself... Raman looked at shagun who looked irritated but not missing a victorious smile that played on her lips... Raman!!! Tell her the truth, how much her ishima loves her... that she left to London... Raman looked at her with disgust before calling out aloud... "Ishita... Ishitaa..." She opened the door ...
