Devga love story on Lines of English novel Promise by Daniel Steel

So was thinking what attracted me to Devga. First thought it was the mythology. But connection to mythology cannot make it touchy or the emotions you are wishing to see.

Then of course EHT was resembling " Revenge" English thriller. But then in Revenge love story was not that emotional or touchy. It was there but it was more planning and plotting there. Then what. I had this question going on in my head since the day that BGM started playing for Dev.

So finally I got the answer because a name popped in my head suddenly from nowhere when that photo Dev- Nithya fell from Durga's lap and Dev was about to see it. " Nancy". I remembered a book that I had read as a college student and had wished I would love to see it on screen. I had vaguely remembered the plot in which rich boy decides to marry a orphan which is disapproved by his mother. On their way to get married they end up in a car accident where the girl's face is damaged. Boy's mother tells her that she will pay for the reconstruction of her face if she goes away from her son's life and will not come back unless he comes for her. The boy is told the girl died in the accident. Girl starts a new life with a new face and new identity. The book was about how the lover's are united in the end. I had forgotten the name of the book but remembered that it was written by Danielle Steel. Searched and found the book. It is " Promise". Only then I knew that it was first a movie then a novel and has been adapted in Hindi also.

Resemblances are hard to miss as far as Devga goes. I don't know about the movies as I have not seen them, but the book " Promise" is a beauty. I mean it touches your heart like anything. You cant forget it once you read it, even if you are not a romantic fan.

Now I understand why I am attracted to Devga. Ok they have more or less adapted a beautiful love story. Can they do full justice to it. Michael and Nancy had made me cry. I now know why Dev is the way he is. They have tried to make him similar to Michael as far as romance goes. A man who does not wear his heart on his sleeve and his emotions are more internalized. His pain is more solo and something he does not share.

Anyways I had decided that I will watch the English movie for sure. Because " Promise" is one book which I had longed to watch on screen.
