The stage is set. The magic is about to begin. Indian Idol's 13 top contenders have taken centrestage. Starting today — Friday, June 29th, 9.00 pm — Indian Idol moves on to the most exciting phase of the internationally famous format, with Gala rounds. From now on, each of the contestants will perform in a do-or-die effort to win over the viewers and their votes in order to move to the next round. With a performance every week and a result episode that follows, these gifted contestants will move closer to making their dream come true.
The first Gala round tonight opens with the Top 13 contestants, who have proved their mettle to reach this stage, being seen together in their first ever music video. The video will premiere on the show tonight. These youngsters have made the judges proud with their brilliant performances, flawless singing and complete presentation. No wonder then that judge Anu Malek said after watching them perform, "We are proud of our choice and happy that we have done our job well."
Many of the youngsters have already become hot favourites with the viewers – Emon, the chota Sonu, Chang, the suave dentist with a heart of gold, Charu, the complete performer with an electrifying screen presence, Parleen Singh, the chocolate boy from the north, Abhishek Kumar, the excellent singer-cum-dancercum-mimic, Deepali, Miss Perfect, Ankita, the girl with spunk and style, and the cool cop Prashant from the east, who has his entire troop backing him.
In both the earlier seasons of Indian Idol, the boys had stolen the thunder from the girls. But with the fantastic line up of brilliant female singers, will the girls steal the show this time? Be it girls or guys, there is absolutely no doubt that the singing talent of Indian Idol 3 has been declared the best ever by the judges and viewers alike. Each contestant is a find.
The viewers have a tough task before them. The destiny of these youngsters is now solely in their hands. Voting lines will remain open from Friday night 9.00 pm until Saturday morning 8.00 am. The result episode will be aired on Saturday night. Weekends are going to be packed with exhilarating performances and great music.
