A Wish Come True

Roshni looks at her friends sadly as they enter the success party of DD arm in arm with their hubbies. DD flashed a big smile at them and threw Roshni a look as if saying "See? Even your friends have gotten married!"

Firstly, DD had already been irritating enough making her life miserable. On top of that she was worried about her social life. She was the only girl out of her group friends who hadn't gotten married yet. All the girls called her "Lucky" that her mom didn't force her to marry yet. What did they know that Roshni and DD had that same argument about her marriage everyday!

"Hi Meena" Roshni said hugging her friend. She shook hands with her husband. "Meena you are such a lucky girl to have such a caring husband!" Roshni exclaimed to her when they had managed to get away from everyone.

"Roshni all the girls out of our girl gang are married!! For goodness sake tell me when will you?" Meena asked which irked Roshni.

"I haven't found the right person yet!" Roshni said. "Really Roshni?" Meena asked. "I know very well that DD has introduced hundreds of guys to you already!" "And you say that none of them are right for you?!"

"Because my husband will be one in a million" Roshni said dreamily.
"Not one out of a hundred!" she snapped at Meena.

"Mine was one out of a ten" Meena mumbled.

"Ha! That was only because on the tenth guy you met your mom forced you to accept him!" Roshni said.

"But he turned out to be the one I always needed" Meena said honestly. "I realized that my mom was right in choosing a man for me."

"You got lucky Meena but not everyone has a fate like you" Roshni said calmly.

"Well.."

"Ladies and Gentlemen!" Durga Devi called out of the middle of the crowd.

"My daughter Roshni Patel will be showcasing the new designs that I have launched" DD announced proudly. "Hon come over here!" DD gestured to Roshni. Roshni rolled her eyes and walked up to her mother's side. Then the usual "drama" as Roshni called it began.

~*~

"The world is filled with so many beautful fairies but my son won't even give me my daughter-in-law" Sid's mom complained to his father.

"He'll marry when he wants to.." his father replied casually. "And besides girls aren't easy to find these days, oh my gosh their attitude!" "Sid I tell you beware of the girl gang!"

"That's what you think about us?" she said getting angrily putting her hands on her hips.

"Mom dad for goodness sake stop arguing!" Sid said covering his ears to show them how annoying it was. His parents looked over at him embarrassingly.

He shook his head and smiled at them. "Mom I understand that you are eagerly awaiting your daughter-in-law but please relax!"

"You said it wrong son! She's even knitted some socks for her grandson!" his dad joked.

"Mom why would you do so?" Sid asked playing along with his dad.

"You two! I'll show you" she said to Sid's father. She grabbed the newspaper out of his hand and said, "You won't be eating those chocolates that Sid brought for you!"

"But why?" his father asked.😭

"Because you two have dared to insult the Queen of this house" she replied with a pout.

Sid's dad shot him a look and Sid nodded. He knew how to handle his mother very well.

He hugged his mother from behind. "Don't get angry Ma.." he said sweetly. "How do I explain this to you?" "I just haven't found my dream girl yet."

His mother turned around to take his face in her hands. "I know my charming prince will soon find his princess, after all he's my son."

"He's also my son!" his father said.

"Not again mom dad" Sid said.

"Siddharth you may think that we are arguing" his father told him.

Sid nodded.

"But" his mother carried on. "This is actually called love."

"Oh you mean even in your fights there is love?" Sid asked her.

His mother nodded with a smile. "Yes beta, that's it!"

Siddharth looked towards his father who nodded in agreement.

~*~

The next day Roshni's friends kept on insisting that they go to the park for a picnic. "Okay okay.." Roshni told Meena through the phone. "I'll be there!"

"Be where?"

Roshni turned around to see her mother standing there.

"DD?" she asked in surprise.

"Please don't tell me that you're going to that NGO again!" DD said smacking her head.

"DD! For goodness sake! It's not an NGO, it's my family!"

DD tried to say something.

"And besides.. I am going for a picnic with my friends!"

"Well that's an improvement" DD said gently hitting the magazine she was holding on Roshni's head before walking away.

Roshni watched her mom walk away angrily. She would never understand her feelings.

As Roshni walked away DD muttered to herself, "I spent all my life trying to reach the heights of success but now my own daughter won't appreciate me."

~*~

"Hey mom, dad!" Sid said. "Why don't we all go for a picnic today??"

"That's actually a very good idea!" his father agreed.

"Really?" his mother exclaimed. "I'll just go and get everything ready for it then!"

"Your mother she's always ready for an outing" his dad said folding his newspaper. "Even I had to read the same newspaper as yesterday today too!" "I told your mother she handed me the wrong one but you know women they never accept their mistakes."

"Dad..don't speak bad about her; she's my mom" Sid said to which they both began laughing.

"You two just always laugh..will you never help me out?!" Sid's mother called out from the kitchen.

"When my wife will come then only will you get help" Siddharth responded though non the less he nodded at his father that he'll be back and went into the kitchen to lend his mother a hand.

~*~

"Wow this was such an amazing picnic!" Tina exclaimed an hour later. The girls had just finished having their food. "Yeah with you guys teasing me about me not getting married..!" Roshni complained.

"That's just how we are hai na Meena?" Tina said. Roshni shrugged when she saw Meena nod as well.

"Your mom made great sandwiches please thank her on our behalf" Meena told Tina. "Don't worry I will" Tina replied smilingly. "But don't forget to thank your mother on that Gajar halwa she made, that was too good!"

Roshni watched Meena and Tina talk to each other about what their mothers made. Only her mom didn't make anything for her picnics.

"Chal let's go" Meena said to Roshni. "You guys leave I'll go home later" Roshni told her friends.

They agreed and with that they bid Roshni bye and left together.

Roshni picked up the almost empty basket of food and sat down under a shade of a tree.

She leaned her head back and before she knew it she had fallen asleep.

She woke up to the sound of someone munching an apple. She gasped when she saw that the lid of her picnic basket was open and Siddharth had taken the remaining apple out of it.
She looked up at him. "Who are you and why are you eating my apple?" she asked him calmly.

"Well I thought you were alone and thought to accompany you on your picnic!" Siddharth said brightly.

"I already had a picnic with my friends I had just fallen asleep under the tree" Roshni explained.

"Ok fine..you can take my apple whenever you visit my home" Siddharth said with a smile.

Roshni gazed at him while he sat there by her munching on the apple.

She was running her hand through the grass when she came across a dandelion.

She pulled it out and twirled it in her hands.

"You should make a wish with that" Sid told her knowingly.

"What?" Roshni asked him incredulously.

"Who knows whether it's true or not but I am sure that your wish will come true" Sid told her.

Roshni cocked her head and gave him a smile. "You talk so nicely" she said kindly.

"I'm just like that" Siddharth said modestly.

"Okay I will make a wish but then you'll have to join me in that" Roshni said.

"Alright" Siddharth said dropping the apple into her basket.

His eyes began searching for a dandelion but he was surprised to not find any. "Surprising isn't it?" he asked her.

She said, "We can share my dandelion."

"But-"

"Don't worry I am sure our wish will still come true" Roshni assured him.

"Okay!" Sid said happily.

Roshni brought the rose between and murmured, "One. Two. Three" and they both blew on the dandelion together.

'Please make me find my someone special' Roshni thought in her mind.

'I want my dream girl ASAP.' Siddharth thought.

Then suddenly they both looked up into eachother's eyes. Roshni blinked while Siddharth was amazed by her beauty.

She had beautiful eyes. Her face was adorable. She had a wonderful smile.

Siddharth looked down at the stem they both were holding.

Maybe his wish HAD come true..:)

THE END!!😃

Okay, I know maybe this was a little boring but I can't help writing something down when an idea pops up in my head.
I hope you all liked it.😳
