Chapter-8:

Recap:

Arjun's mobile rang.

He answered the call.

"Sir, I got this number from a friend! Here is a situation sir!"

"What's it? Where are you calling from?"

"Sir, I'm talking from Kalyan. I have a cake shop here! And I overheard someone talking about a hit on Gayathri Devi! She is an MLA candidate here.

"He didn't know I was working on the other side of the screen in my shop. He instructed someone over his phone that, he had arranged for the hit and asked to be ready to pay the half that was twenty five lakhs for the hit.

"Sir, she is going to speak in public tomorrow evening!"

He said with tension in his voice.

"Did you see him? Can you identify him?"

"No sir, when I quietly parted the screen and saw none was there! I realized then that he talked as he was walking.

"This way, sir!"

He led us into the shop through a small door to the back of the shop. There we saw the screen that he mentioned.

"My worker will be here usually, preparing cakes and today he's not available. So I was working here. I think the man didn't sense me here or expected one here! He stood over there, near the next shop's back."

Inspector Juhandhar entered and saluted.

Arjun turned to the shop owner.

"Did he mention about the way of paying? I mean bank name, account number, by whom- Anything?"

"No sir, I heard just this!"

"I see!"

"We've to act fast!"

"Sir, I think it's just another threat. We hear like this nearly every day. If we take them all seriously, then we'll only run behind these rumors and can't run the station!" Juhandhar said and smiled.

"Well, if it's true and if they execute the hit tomorrow at your beat, then you won't be there in the station to run it!" Arjun smiled and said.

The inspector bewildered at that for sure, for he did not know actually that our boss was in Mode-1' and was telling him in a friendly way.

Juhandhar said, "Yes sir!" dutifully.

Arjun instructed him to dig the background of Gayathri Devi.

We had lunch together.

Once we settled in the seats, Arjun asked, "Shall we order?" pleasantly.

We nodded cheerfully.

"Guys, see our new studs! Sakshi showed hers and motioned to Ayesha's.

"Tell me, to whom it suits better!" Sakshi asked as the order arrived to our table.

"To both!" I said.

"Haan! To both!" Chottu went with me.

"Not impressed! Arjun you tell me,"

She insisted.

"Mm... Take the gravy Sakshi!"

"Tell me first!" She took the bowl in hand.

"All right, it suits you better!"

He replied and got the bowl.

"Sir, think twice before you say so!"

Ayesha interrupted with a smile.

"Oh! Then take me the rice bowl!"

He said as everybody except Sakshi laughed aloud.

"Cheater!" She cursed and smiled at last.
