She was dusky
She was a bai's daughter

She had no one to rely on, not even her mother

These were the traits that defined her

But she refused to let them limit her

She was smart, spunky and intelligent

And she was going to get her Ek Muthi Asmaan

That was what attracted me to this show

The dreams and struggles of Kalpi as played by Rachana P

Atlast we had a show which was going to break the mould , I thought !

Well, was I wrong

The PH was not happy with Rach's performance,

Maybe, well they are bosses, so it's their prerogative to fire whoever they want

What has been the biggest let down

Has been the replacement

Had she been replaced by another dusky homely looking girl

Which would have kept the ethos of kalpi intact, there would have been some credibility to this

But she was replaced by a fair and "beautiful" kalpi

And now she has a rich daddy too,

This fictional kalpi had it easy

She just fell off the cliff

And two days later woke up rich and fair

For millions of real life kalpis who want to make it big

On their own talent,

The message from our CVs is very clear

The only way for a girl to be successful

Is to be fair skinned and to have a rich dad

Instead of The message that the world respects talent and hard work and

anybody with guts and ambition will succeed, looks notwithstanding

The cvs are giving a message that only girls who are fair skinned can dare to dream and achieve

Dark skinned girls, who want to make it on their intellect and hard work

Can just go jump off a cliff !

Beautiful post
Well said...
Rachana made Kalpi a reality which those fools fail to see
Kalpi is dead to me after Rachana exit
But I'm sure Rachana will get her Ek Mutthi Aasmaan and no one can stop her
Talent always win over superficial

Kudos for your post, agree to each & every word 😊

The Indian girl is defined by fair skin, rich papaji to give dahej & NRI chora to romance & marry. DJ aren't disappointing in any level 🥱 🥱 🥱

I would still applaud DJs for Jassi at some level but with Kalpi they failed terribly 🤢

Loved ur post.. Specially where u mentioned the fictional Kalpi and million real Kalpis.. It's true!! The show had one dusky poor girl who was talented and was trying to achieve success but cvs made it easy for her but what about the million girls who are trying to find their success on their own..The show was promoted as the unique show which will depict struggles of maid and her daughter but like any other show it too lost it's essence and depicting the same love triangle and plastic surgery theories. cvs made themselves fool by doing this.

Loved the last line of your post.

I am an Indian and I'm ashamed to admit that my countrymen are one of the most racist if not the most racist in the world. We believe in the concept of Fair and Lovely which is why we developed the cream of the same name that promises to change the color of the skin in 2 weeks. Of course, our dear cvs went several degrees ahead in time by changing a dark-skinned girl into a fair-skinned one in two days!!

The Fair and Lovely cream is the highest selling cream in India today which only proves how many of the dark skinned people are buying into this myth. It only perpetuates insecurity and complexes but do the advertisers and the sellers of the cream care?

I hope the viewers see through what the cvs are trying to perpetuate and give it a resounding thumbs down.
