CHAPTER-15.

Love gets purer when you face hardships-

The Purest when you get burned..

What will you tell when you have both drowned and burnt yourself..?

What do you get for reaching the point of no return...?

Veera walked forward with a heavy heart..

The man in front of her did not budge an inch,even as she walked closer..

Was he deaf..?She wondered suddenly..Normally a person might turn and look,o even move a bit when he or she heard noises behind them..But this man just stood still..

Suddenly her ankle was hurt by scratch from a stone on the ground,and she winced silently..

"Tainu dard hota hai to,mainu bhi dard hota hai na..!

[If you are hurt then I am hurt too..!]"

Veera went still,completely still..Her eyes widened as she looked for the source of the voice,for the man who had said those words..

She looked around..No nothing..

Only the still and silent stranger stood a few feet from her,and he had not moved or spoken..

A soft gush of wind rustled at the dry leaves on the ground,and Veera felt they were signaling her to sweep away old memories and move ahead in her life..

Something made her turn back,and she suddenly felt someone was watching over her,but there was no one on sight,and with a sigh she turned back to face the stranger..

The way he stood,facing the light,his dark shadow falling behind him,Veera felt he was standing like beacon in her endless abyss of torture and pain..He looked like the silent angel who would decide her fate now,and make her forget her memories..

Angel or Demon?!A voice scoffed from the back of her mind,and Veera hesitated slightly before taking the next step..Completely unaware of the dark shadow behind,who hitched in a sharp breath as she did so..

Veera had taken the next step,when she had the memory of Baldev smiling at her on holi,and declaring his love for her..

"Main bhi love you!"

Once again she felt that tug at her heart,as she inhaled a steadying breath..She felt tears prick at the back of her eyes,which she tried her best to hold back..

She took another step,and she had the memory of Baldev gifting her that tool box..He had looked so adorable then..How had she never realized back then,what an adorable guy he was..?!Maybe if she had,things would not have come to these..

Maybe if she had realized it was she herself,who was the idiot,and never insulted him,maybe then,she would be lying in his arms right now,and he would never have left after taking his revenge on her..!

A choking sob was rising in her throat,and Veera gulped trying her best to fight her emotions,as she inhaled another steadying breath..

As she finally took the third step,she remembered his dark eyes looking down at her with all the passion tenderness and love,as he joined his body with hers,and his lips had closed over hers whispering he was sorry to hurt her..

Veera choked down the sob that was nearly bursting out of her lips,afraid of the outcome of it all..

She could not go back now..She had chosen this path..She had to walk ahead to the man standing there..She could not be pulled back to those memories that would do no good but drown her in their darkness,and destroy her beloved Veerji in the process too..!

She could not be that selfish,and destroy the only other man she loved from her childhood..!Her anokhi ma..!How could she be so selfish..?!

She stood still thinking all these,and was unaware of the dark shadow behind her,almost getting ready to walk towards her seeing her stillness..

She had been selfish once..That one night,and look where it got her to..!

She had been betrayed by the one she had put everything at stake for..!He had just left her..Used her up,and then left her just like that..!And he was not coming back..!

And now,even if he did come back,she was not going to him..Not at all..!Of course maybe he would not want her too..Maybe she was not good enough for him anymore..She had after all proved that she was nothing but a shameless hussy craving for him that night..

Even the thought made her cringe,but that was all she could do to stop herself from thinking about that man,on this day,when she was supposed to move on finally..

The shadow behind her was just taking a step towards her,when Veera again started moving..

It was a good thing that the man she was tying herself too for life,looked more like a statue to her by now,cause she herself was nothing but a statue herself these days..Nothing but a living breathing moving statue..The thought crossed her mind as she choked down her pain,and started walking towards her FATE..

And the shadow behind her went still..Turned into a statue himself as she started moving away..

Veera was now standing right behind him..Her heart beating really fast..

She did not know why she was suddenly feeling so nervous..

Her heart was pumping out blood in loads while her lungs were overflowing with air as she breathed fast..

She could also feel a thin line of perspiration form at her hairline,as she got ready to speak..To let her FATE know that..

That was when she realized she did not even know the name of the man..!Her eyes widened at the realization..!

Could it get any stranger..?!That she did not even know the name of the man she was getting engaged to and then married for life to..!

But suddenly that thought nearly made her laugh out loud..

She was hysterical,she realized as she stifled the laughter..

With her eyes shining with mirth now,for no reason at all,she looked at the man standing with his back to her,even then..

Suddenly he moved a bit,as if completely aware that she was standing right behind him..

And that was when Veera realized that he was not a statue at all..!

A living breathing,human being who had blood flowing through his veins just like her..

That when he would turn to face her,he would have eyes that would look at her..Hands that would-..

"Suniye..?Main-..Main aap se shaadi nai kar sakdi-..Aap mainu maaf kaar dijiye ga..!

[Listen..?I-..I cannot marry you-..Please forgive me..!]"She choked out the words and whirled round to leave..Her hands and feet hadalready turned numb,and she had to-..

"Kiu..?Shaadi kiu nai karni..?Ya phir mere naal nai karni shaadi..?

[Why..?Why won't you marry..?Or maybe you don't want to be married to me..?]"

The husky deep voice made her stop in mid stride,and Veera was sure she was dreaming..

Slowly she turned round..

And he turned simultaneously..

Veera looked at the familiar features,and the familiar dark eyes,as her insides went numb completely,while all the blood ran out of her face..

The solemn faced man,with brooding dark eyes,took a step towards her,and suddenly knelt down on one knee in front of her..

"Main aapke siva aur kisi se shaadi nai kaar sakda..Jee nai sakda,aap ke bina..Bauhot koushish karli,paar aab aur nai..Kya aap mainu shaadi karengi..?Mere bikhre hue zindagi sawaarne ke liye..?Kya aap mainu-..Kya aap mainu aapni pati banayengi..?

[I cannot marry anyone other than you..Cannot live without you..I have tried a lot,but not anymore..Will you marry me..?To fix my messed up life..?Will you-..Will you make me your husband..?]"The husky solemn words were tearing at her heart,and suddenly the tears she had been trying to hold back burst out..

And as she covered her face and started sobbing out her pain,the man was back on his feet instantly,and had wrapped her in his embrace..

He squeezed her tight and close to his body..Letting her soak his sherwani with her tears,as his hand caressed her back in soothing motions..

"Mainu maaf kaar de Veerakhdi..!Mainu maaf kar de..!

[Please forgive me Veerakhdi..!Please forgive me..!]"He whispered in a choked tear clogged voice..

And Veera wept harder than ever..

Some distance away the lone shadow moved a bit,and wiped off the tears that had come to his eyes..

A teary smile came on his lips,as he sighed out in relief..He had wanted to reassure his Veerakhdi,but knew this once,it was someone else's arms she needed..

He had followed her in secret to ensure she was okay..

She was after all his first child..His Veerakhdi..How could he live her alone in someone else's trust without ensuring things would truly be okay,just like his wife Gunjan had reassured him..

Now Ranvi felt his vision blurring with the silly tears that were not stopping,and quickly turned to leave..

His Veerakhdi and her love needed some time alone..

And he had some more engagement preparations to look into..But before he left,he could not stop himself from looking back one more time..

The way Baldev held her close to his arms,and with such pain and tenderness etched on his face,Ranvi was reassured that his Veerakhdi was in the safest of hands..If anyone he could trust to look after his Veerakhdi after him,it was that man holding her safe in his arms,with tears streaming down his face..

And Ranvi smiled deeper as he walked away..

Veera did not know for how long she cried,but she went on crying,until all the pain left her..

And finally when her sobs subsided,she felt strong again..

She felt she was back to being the strong person she had become..!

Cause in all these minutes,she had cried and he had wrapped her in his arms,not once had she touched him or held him..Her hands had lay limply by her side all the time..

That was how strong she had become..

She had not cried in happiness..She had cried in the pain of betrayal she felt not only towards this man,still holding her..But also towards her own family..Her own Veerji..

They had all planned this behind her back,and she felt she was betrayed all over again..She had cried in remorse of that new betrayal..

And now finally when she had no more tears to cry,she inhaled a sharp breath,and pulled herself free from his hold and took a step back..

Baldev looked at her with wet and confused eyes..His tears pulled at her heart,but she ignored it..She had cried herself to sleep too,every single night these last three months..Where was he then..?Hiding away somewhere..!Running away from her,and their love like a coward..!

She thought as rage took over her..He himself had said so only sometime ago..!He had tried a lot to stay away from her..!

Veera could feel the anger spreading within her,as she hissed in a sharp breath..

"Main abhi bhi aap se shaadi nai kar sakdi..!Kabhi bhi nai..!

[I still cannot marry you..!Never ever..!]"She hissed out under her breath,just before she turned to leave..

The shocked pale face of Baldev,at her declaration,before she turned round was like a triumph for her..

A triumph she rejoiced with her heart breaking into pieces inside,and yet with she held her head high as she walked away..

Ohhh Sina!!! This is totally awesome!!! I completed a reading marathon of Mirage from Chapter 4 - 14 and trust me I felt this story is truly a mirage!!! Too good to believe, in one chapter if I felt u have done your best, u proved me wrong in the next one by a better update in the following one.
