Duh! Because of various reasons

Ghajini: Action Masala entertainer. New genre at that time. Hit songs and good promotion strategy. All this contributed to it's success.

3 idiots: didn't worked only because of aamir, it worked because of it's content and story. The content was the reason why it did so well. Kareena Kapoor who was top at that time.

Dhoom 3: A brand. Very popular franchise, Katrina Kaif who is number 1 actress, who's a crowd puller, YRF backing, good promotions, and 40 percent hike in tickets.

If Aamir Khan was bigger star than Salman Khan or Shahrukh Khan then Taalsh would had been an ATBB or would had at least crossed 100 crs.

In terms of star power it's Salman Shahrukh > Aamir

Talaash was also a semi-hit and did 90+ cr in 2012 right? Hardly disastrous.

CE was SRK's first BB in 5 years. Four borderline hits and a flop in between.
