Maan was going to say he doesn't want to marry right now, though the look on Geet's face worried him, she was so tensed like she knew what he was going to say which only tore him with guilt. He had never thought he will feel compassion for anyone and Geet made him feel that in less than an hour but he can't betray her like this. Marriage is the last thing on his mind, his company needs him specially when he is going to take over in a few days.
Geet saw the apprehension on Maan's face, she knew the moment their eyes met for the 2nd time, he isn't in this proposal, her heart tore away but she managed a weak smile. She doesn't know what connection they have but she can feel his apprehension. Before he can say anything she need to clarify herself, maybe then he doesn't have to do anything. His family will break this alliance the moment she open her mouth and she did that.
'I h-h-have t-t-to sssay sssomething."
There was silence for a moment, none knew what they heard, her voice was so soft yet the words they couldn't make. It was Ayan and Arohi who broke into laughter, Aniee who is Arohi's twin gaped at her with open mouth and Roby Maan's 19 yr old brother twisted his mouth in disgust.
Arohi still thought it was just a nervousness that made Geet's words like that so she glared her younger brother. Yash Maan's cousin too glare Roby who was unaffected.
"Bhabi u don't need to be nervous, relax, we don't bite,, you know."
Arohi's teasing voice and smile faded when she noticed the seriousness on Geet's face. There was only silence as Rano looked at Mohindar with frown, she thought her husband told Surya everything, but that never came cause Mohindar thought the marriage broker said everything to the Khurana. Though Handa and Khurana did some business they never talked about marriage proposal, it was coincident when the marriage broker took Geet's photo to Khuranas.
"I h-have ssspeech dis-oorder."
Shreya held Geet's hand feeling her hand going cold she clutched it tightly. Geet's eyes automatically went to Maan,, he was just staring at her with blank expression, she felt the prick sensations in her eyes and lowered the lashes.
"Yeh sab kya mazak laga rakkha hain? Why we are here? To make ourselves a fun project? Surya why will u want a defected piece as ur daughter in law? And this broker,, wait till I reach KM, he also never said that the girl has some problem, hume aisi ladki nahi chahiye jo thik se naam tak na bol paaye. Society me kitni badnami hogi, we will be a laughing stock."
Dadima's angry voice and those words only broke Geet further as tears made there way, she bite her lips to control the urge to cry. Mohindar couldn't look at his daughter, he was ashamed to fail her again, but he can't tolerate any more words against his precious daughter.
"Bas kijiye aap log,, hume aise jagah rishta nahi karna jaha insan ki nahi society ki parwa ki jay.. I m proud of my daughter and no one has the right to say a word against her, aap log aaye, thank u, now pls leave before I say anything I regret later, mehmano ki bezzati hamare liye paap hain lekin hum yaha apko hamari beti ki insult nahi karne denge, wo jaisi bhi hain, she is the best daughter in the world."
Geet looked at her father to see any regret but he was holding rano who smiles at her and he was so proud looking that Geet's heart melted.
"Keep your handicapped girl to yourself, and nothing is there to proud on her, we don't need a defected handicap daughter in law. Hume to lagta hain zindagi var aapko hi iska bojh uthana parega aur ehi garv ek din mitti me mil jayega, seeing you dumb girl still unmarried. Kaise father keh layenge aap, doctor and surgery k wajah u are saying you are proud on her."
"Bas kijiye maa"
Surya Khurana looked so pained to hear his mother, he looked at Mohindar apologetically, though he didn't knew about Geet's problem but he knew none can be as good as Geet in every other aspect.
"My father isn't shallow like you Mrs Khurana."
Dadima's shocked eyes fell on Geet who looked like boiling lava who can erupt any moment, shreya was holding her tightly but didn't stop her talking, Geet's eyes were spitting fire.
"My father is a person who can never feel ashamed on me for being 'handicapped' as u refer because my father is the person who taught me to respect humanity, he is the one to make my weakness my strong points and I m proud of my father and if there comes a day my father has to see me unmarriade that will be the day I finally take over the charge of my life as he wants me to... rahi baat kisi ladke ki,,, kismat se aage aur naseeb se jayda kisiko kuch nahi milta. Koi na koi aisa to hoga jisse mein ek insan dikhu naaki tooti hui gudiya."
Her eyes were on Maan who was still looking dumfounded and at this moment she realized she let her anger slip and nervouness out, yes she can speak perfectly when she isn't a nervous wreck which is only around her family and friends.
She turned her back and started walking out but stopped hearing his voice.
"I want to marry your daughter sir."
Geet whipped her head on Maan's direction with louder heartbeat and fear. Mohindar looked baffled and so was the khuranas but there wasn't an inch of unease as Maan said so looking at Geet, she questioned his intention but he stood firmly. Mohindar was happy but worried, Geet ran back and stood in front of maan, her anger hadn't fazed but there was nervousness and fear.
"That lllittle ssspeech d-didn't change who I am,, aand t-thatI ssstutters, I have dyslexia and it wwwont change anything. I am n-not nnnormal, d-defected is rrright Yyour G-g-grandmother said,"
"You are not defected Geet and I want to marry you because of the person you are."
If Maan thought his word will sooth her then he is mistaken cause she looked more than angry.
"DDDON'T PITY ME. I KNOW WHAT I AM, AND I M NOT NORMAL, so please go back to your life and marry a girl who isn't handicapped like me."
And with that she ran out. Shreya looked at maan with concern filled eyes and the strong persona she tried to show slipped out as worry for her best friend came on her face. And she ran out calling Geet who walk away from the main entrance.
