Hello folks...to begin, here is a antra from a old song, but one that inspired this post.

imali ka boota beri ka ped imali khatti meethe ber
is jangal mein ham do sher chal ghar jaldi ho gayi der

In this movie we had two stelwart performers, Raj Kumar and Dilip Kumar essaying the roles of the Shers.

I have maintained that whatever rubbish is happening in this Rubbish Se serial has been the result of bad creativity or rather stagnant creativity. I want them to be inspired and hence give them a movie with lots of drama, love and all things good and yet very strong main characters (who are in a war of sorts).

Personally, for the longest time, the creatives have been limping the story forward on the basis of one moral Blasts from the pasts, and gut twisting plots make good drama.

I know we all are here for good drama, something thats new and unique, something that is not shown on the 101 other similar soaps. I guess for most of the different lovestory attracted us to this soap, and for some of us the hope to see it recreated is what is holding us back.

But the truth at the end of the day, we are looking for drama. However, drama seems to be something we dont define equally.

I belive that if something (drama) is shown to a family audience in a prime time slot, the plot needs to cater to everyone starting from the toddlers to the grandmas and pas. I for one, do not find this drama condusive for family audience.

PR raaz, was okay I dont hate it as much since it catered drama as promised and yet it was healthy.

ONS brought the disgust in. A sali raping/sleeping with/ fill in whatever you call this thing her Jiju (still married but in process of getting a divorce) is something that I for one dont think I can watch sitting in the same room or on the dining table with the rest of my family.

This junk went on for long, infact the things following this were just as soul cringing. Sleeping in the same bedroom as your married sister and jiju. Making your jiju touch your stomach in the middle of the night. Calling him at odd hours, proving your mother like sister who raised you to be mentally sick/murderer. I find it disgusting.

With the Leap and introduction of one of the best telly stars, I had hope. I thought I will get to see the clash of the titans. I went to the extent of comparing them to having SRK and Aamir in the same frame (dont like my selection, put your choice of situational vs. method actor combination here). But guess what we got to see.

One sher and one bhiggi billi (billa in this case). And yes, a mockery of the hindu marriage vows (saat pheres) where the lead lady takes 14 vows in the same day but with 2 different men. With one she promises a good future and the other she promises his destruction (verbally). But the reason we have 7 pheras in our culture is because we promise 7 very particular things to the person we are taking the pheras with not just what we verbally recite as part of the wedding vows like in the western marriages (coz if this was true she needed only one phera with JW for his destruction). And I dont think you can take the exact same vows with 2 people regardless of your ultimate goals.

Ofcourse this is a reel war and everything is fair in love and war. But dont you think a fight on a level ground is more drama than seeing one person always crying and lamenting and the other always roaring? If you call what we have good drama, its your choice.

I for one want to see real drama, a fight of the equals like in the movie Saudagar. We have good actors, many possibilites of good storylines, just bad content. All the ingredients are there, but a person who has lost the ability to taste and smell is making the food. Yes the appearance and garnishing is all there, but the taste makes me want to throw up.

I am not against AD or RR. And I am not here only for a love story. But what I am here for is to see some quality television with my family. Something I dont feel disgusted with and enjoy watching. I guess this is too much to ask, since a large number of viewers seem to enjoy this repulsive track, and good for them.

And if in order to get quality drama, I have to ask for the removal of certain characters, I am all for it. If keeping them around and creating a magical story is the answer, I am here to enjoy it. If going back to where it all started, the love story and the story of discovery is what the situation demands, I want that.

But no more repungent plots please. All with me say yea...

Double Yea RIvs. KS gets more and more disgusting everyday. Lost all it's charm. The protagonists that made the show what it is today have been butchered beyond recognition. No crativity whatsoever left. There has to be a standard of what they deliver in the name of drama, and not leave the audience feel disgusted. 🤢

1000 YEA's. Very well stated and very correct, it is shown at Primetime and this says that it is for Family viewing, it started out that way but soon became a Seril that should be censored. I hope your mail and the responses makes it to the people concerned for the putting out of this nonsense. Good Luck and as usual your points are well noted and it makes perfect sense which is what I try to do everytime I post, I don't put up and shut up, in a business world which is where I come from, you get no further in life with that mentality, people are held and must be for anthing that goes out in a public Forum. OMG, I was just listening to this song while I was commuting today, what a coincidence....

Family vs non-family viewing - I have only one comment to make, different strokes for different people.

I have been in US for almost two decades. I just started watching Kasamh se since July of last year. When I first came to this country, I used to watch American soaps like General Hospital and All my children before I started going to school and work. Then I stopped once life got busier. The soaps I watched had bigamy, rape, adultery, violence, sex, dysfuntional families and you name it, they had it. I pretty much developed a thick skin and watched them as entertainment and left it.

I have two boys, and they grew up in US, both of them see these things in movies, a little bit in school (They go to decent schools, so not much...) I can not protect them and restrict them from viewing it either on TV, Video or computer games. I can only guide them and teach them good values and tell them real life is different from reel life.

A funny thing happened one day where my next door neighbor's kid impregnated his 16 year old girlfriend and they both dropped out from school to raise the kid. When I asked my kids what they thought of it, they shrugged and said they know 2 or 3 more kids like that in their school. I thought, well here is a chance for me to teach them a lesson, but before I could start, they started talking about that and saying how stupid these kids are, how they are not using protection, how they are having pre-marital sex and how they had to drop out of school, thus ruining their chances of having a good future. I let them talk, with a smile on my lips...I didn't have to teach them anything, they know what our values are/were.

So the point I am trying to make is, yes...the amoral or unethical behaviors are shown on TV and movies a lot these days. But it's at home, we have to teach values. Protecting and sheltering them constantly is going to hurt them in the long run.

Coming to Ekta's soaps - we are cribbing always about the characters, the creatives, the directors, the screenplay writers etc. Yes, lately...the soap is going south, story a majority of us on IF don't like by looking at the posts (Purely statistics) and looks like the TRPs are hurting too - so that shows that indeed there is something wrong. We can blindly say that she is making money and the advertisers are paying, but we all know what happens when TRPs are low...they eventually lose the ads, audience and appeal (Gosh, I have done the 'A' stuff too)

So...urban dramas with love stories are liked by certain audience - and they do flock to such serials. Not all dramas need to go in the same direction just because the mass likes them (Saas, Bahu, Saazish stuff) My personal opinion is that some one on Balaji should start taking the success of KS before and the failure of KS now seriously.

It is logical and sound business judgment to do that. Ekta at 32 has been declared TV daytime mogul...She did a marvelous job and a source of pride to young enterpreneurial women. But like so many Media tycoons in US, who made it big, she should also learn how to roll with the punches and read the pulse of the audience. Because I want her to be like Oprah - strong, sensible and sustainable.

What irked me when she said, 'don't watch it, if you don't like it' was her arrogance that people will flock to the dramas irrespective of the muck shoved at them. You don't see a Rupert Murdoch or Oprah saying such things. Given that Ekta is still young, we should probably ignore such juvenile remarks.

And Ekta's soldier/angel (Nina dear): It's good to have role models, but better to have the discerning ability to see the good and bad in your heroes, otherwise you are bound to get disillusioned. My own role models is Bill Gates - love his competitive spirit, his generosity, his willingness to decimate his rivals - dislike his breaking the rules and copying ideas from others.

Anyways, long post - Lunch is over, got to go....
