Chapter 2

"PRAGYA!!!" screamed Abhi and everyone down in the hall looked in the direction the scream came from. Everyone was shocked to see Abhi standing at the top of the stairs. His hand was bleeding and his eyes bloodshot. He rushed down the stairs. Pragya rushed towards him to tend to his wound but before she could do anything Abhi raised his hand to slap her in front of everyone. Everyone was shocked. Pragya shouldn't be after all the domestic abuse she had been put through in the last 10 days that she had been married to Abhishekh but she too was. She stood there her mind numb, her heart bleeding and her eyes asking Kyun?' She never thought the mental abuse that she went through would exceed to the next level and become physical abuse. Abhishekh was going to slap her! He would have slapped her in front of all!

"Abhi!" roared dadi.

"No dadi! Aaj main aapki bhi nahi sunoonga! You don't know her real face."

Sarla was the most shocked. The loving son in law that Abhishekh was to her was lost somewhere in the man standing in front of her.

"Abhishekh betaji what are you talking about? Aise aapne meri bacchi ko..."

"She is not a bacchi she is a B****. Aliyah ki khushiyon ki dushman hai ye."

Pragya was still in shock. She was continuously staring at Abhi. This time Abhi said it. He called her a B****, he did not change it to Beauty.

"Bhai hua kya hai? Why are you in the f***** up mood on my wedding day? Aap toh Purab ko laane gaye the na? Where is he?"

"Bolo Pragya Aliyah is asking something. Tell her where her fianc is. Where is he? Purab kahaan hai? Bhaga diya apne ex... No if he left my sister at the altar for you then he is not your ex he is your aashiq abhi bhi. You shameless woman, apni zarooraton ke saamne kuch aur nahi dikhta?"

"Bhai! What are you saying? Where is Purab? He can't leave me! Not for anyone and certainly not for this chashmish!" Aliyaah barged at Pragya. "Tell me you man stealer where is my Purab? Mere bhai ki daulat aur mera pyar churaane ka iraada hai. See dadi this is your bahu's real face."

Abhi moved Aliyah away from Pragya. Something inside him compelled him to ask Pragya for an explanation. There had to be one. He wanted to be sober with her in front of dadi and Sarlaji but he was just too angry.

"Pragya you were in Purab's room. What did you say to him? What did you promise him? Kaise tumne use yahaan se bhaagne ko manaya? How did you get him to betray me once again? Bolo kuch toh bolo! Damn it! I swear Pragya speak up or else!" Abhi was shaking Pragya to get her out of her silence.

"Aap mujhe galat samjh rahe hain. I have not done anything wrong. Aliyah is like Bulbul to me. Do you really think I would do something like this? You want an answer from me. If I give it to you will you trust me?" Pragya knew it but she still had a hope in her that Abhi would have developed some trust over her. "Maine Purab ko nahi bhagaya. Mera yakeen kijiye!" Pragya pleaded with Abhi to understand her. She did not want the truth about them to come out in this way in front of all. She did not want to hurt her mother or Abhi's dadi but that would exactly happen if Abhi continued. She could turn Abhi's words and give them a new form if he would just stop right now. She could make it all better if he would let her.

"Abhishekh aap please shaant ho jaaiye sab dekh rahe hain. Dadi aur ma ko sach..."

"Arre let them come to know the truth... I am sick and tired of you and this charade of being a happily married couple. Just tell me one thing where is Purab. You want me to stop then go and get Purab."

Tannu who was quiet up till now saw her chance to get the truth out and finally she could get rid of this behenji and have her Abhi back.

"You lying B****! You are such a fool Aliyah! Tumne socha tum mere Abhi ki shaadi iss behenji se kar dogi toh wo Purab ka peecha chod degi! Then you and Purab will be married and live happily ever after! Look what you have done tumhaari wajah se mera Abhi kisi aur ka husband hai! And what has happened Purab is gone too. I am left without Abhi and you are without Purab and this behenji has both of them. Aliyah you ruined your and my blife both!" Tannu yelled at Aliyah. She had vibes of something going wrong. She knew she was going to lose Abhi one day and she asked Aliyah to stop her nonsense and break Abhi and Pragya's marriage but know this dumb girl wanted to play games.

Abhi, Aliyah and Tannu all surrounded Pragya and hurled insult after insult at her. Pragya did not say a word. She wanted it all to end and if it would end only with her she wished that her life ended too. She could no longer take it. She somehow, somewhere deep inside her wanted the truth about her marriage to come out. She could not do it herself so if it had to be this way then so be it.

"Abhi ye Tannu kya keh rahi hai?" Abhi's dadi was in shock.

The guest started talking in hushed voices. Fingers were being pointed at Pragya. The people who did not know her made comments about her character. Abhi's tauji asked the guest to leave as maybe the wedding was cancelled and he did not want people to make a tamasha out of the family tragedy if it was one. The guests left only after saying the worst of the things. Sarla could not bear to hear these things about her daughter. She had to know the truth. She was not convinced that Pragya was not happily married to Abhi. She thought this was just momentarily because of some confusion because Purab ran away on the day of his marriage. She came to Pragya.

"Pragya ye Abhishekh beta ji kya pooch rahe hain? See tell him the truth. If Purab has gone somewhere and you know about it bol de beta. Kya tune...? Dekh beta tell the truth. Purab ki koi bhi galti apne sar mat le wo kya hai na tere sasural ka mamla hai. Teri shaadi... Look beta you have had 2 failed marriage proposals if now your marriage fails then... Beta you tell them about Purab I know Abhishekh betaji is a very good human being he will not leave you." Pragya could not believe that her own mother doubted her. She knew that her mother wanted her to be married and be happy but for that she too asked her if she was involved in Purab running away at the last moment. Pragya stood there and tears rolled down her cheeks. Her own mother thought that she could help a groom ditch his bride on the wedding day. How could she? Abhi took hold of Pragya's hand and dragged her towards the main door and he threw her out... Pragya was about to fall but...

"Pragya Di!!!" Shouted Purab. Abhi threw Pragya out of the house but just at that moment Purab had walked in. He stopped Pragya from falling on the ground.

Abhi saw Purab support Pragya. "Pragya Di!!! Pragya Di!!!" Purab tried to get Pragya out of the shock she was in. Purab was confused. He had no idea what had been going on behind his back.

"Purab thank God you are back! Kahan chale gaye the tum? You know I was so worried for you." Aliyah went and hugged Purab.

"Aliyah what the hell is going on here? Pragya Di ke saath kya hua? Di aap mujhe bataiye." Pragya fainted and Purab carried her up to her room.

Pragya Di!!! Did Purab just call Pragya, Pragya Di!!! What the hell was going on? Why was an aashiq calling her maashooka Di? Could it be? Oh! Fish Pragya is not the girl Purab loves. Aliyah ye tumne kya kar diya? I ruined an innocent girls life because of you stupid misunderstanding.' Abhi glared at Aliyah who tried to hide behind Tannu. Abhi, Tannu and Aliyah all understood that Pragya was not the girl Purab was involved with.

Tannu too was very angry with Aliyah. She faced towards Aliyah and gave her a tight slap.

"What the hell Tannu how dare you slap me?" "I have every right to slap you, B****!" "How dare you insult me Tannu?" "The same way you dared to get my boyfriend married to some other girl!" "Oh as if you were dying to marry him! A modeling contract was more important to you than him! So that makes you the B****! You wanted money and not love so that makes you a bigger gold digger than Pragya!" "You take it back!" "Oh yeah what will you do if I don't."

Tauji and his older son, Raj wanted to stop this fight but Taiji and Maithili stopped them. They wanted some entertainment. Tauji and Raj gave up and they went away from there. Maithili's kids and their bua were already sent away when Abhi came down yelling at Pragya. Now in the hall remained Abhi, Aliyah, Tannu, Taiji and Maithili.

Abhi was still trying to get it that Pragya did not love Purab. Oh! Shit she had said it to his face but he did not understand at that time.' Abhi felt like hitting his head on the wall. The days after the wedding are supposed to be the best time for a newlywed couple. It is their honeymoon period. They are supposed to be in the heaven of love and he had given Pragya nothing but hell. He did not know how he went down this path. Then he heard the screaming of two girls. He looked at them they were the reason for his crude behavior towards Pragya.

Aliyah and Tannu had begun fighting. They started pulling hair. They were mucho pissed at each other, and after a few girly insults they began defending themselves with finger nails that where quite long and then the fist fight started. They fought, scratching each other, slaps, pulling hair, and other cliched catfight methods.

Abhi was in no mood to stop them. He mustered all the courage he could and went up to his room. There he saw Pragya lay on the bed. Pale and fragile from the hurt he had given her. He stood there outside watching her continuously.

"Pragya Di!!!" screamed Purab to get Pragya out of her shock. He jerked her and then she came to her senses. She looked at Purab and began to cry. She hugged him and cried for what seemed like an eternity to a confused Abhi.

"Pragya Di kya hua?" "Tum kahaan chale gaye the Purab? You told me you wanted to marry Aliyah par then you were not there. Abhishekh, Aliyah, Tannu... even ma asked me if I helped you run away... Ma ne bhi poocha Purab..." Pragya cried once more.

"Pragya Di aapne mujhe bataya tha na about marriage and it's true value and meaning. I know I do not love Aliyah right now but she is my childhood friend and I want to give her the love, respect, understanding everything that she would get if someone else would be her husband. Di I went to get something for her! But you just saw Di the kind of love, respect, understanding she has for me... A half an hour I was gone and she thought I left her... Di do you really think I can make her happy if she does not want to be happy... I will get married to her for you!"

Dadi saw Abhi and she shut the door. Abhi sat on the floor and cried the same way he had when he lost his parents. He had Purab by his side then and now he was not. Purab was not at fault he was! Purab had not wronged him he had! Purab did not betray him he had!

Dadi, Sarla and Purab came out of the room. Abhi got up and he was about to ask about Pragya. Before he could ask about Pragya dadi heard Aliyah and Tannu's screams.

"Ye kya ho raha hai? Tannu, Aliyah why are the two of you fighting like animals." There was pin drop silence in the hall. Aliyah and Tannu composed themselves and tried to look presentable.

Abhi's Tauji and Raj came out from their rooms. In the hall were present the Mehra family minus Pragya and the children. From Pragya's family only Sarlaji was there. She was feeling very weak from all that had happened. Before dadi could ask anything Purab took Aliyah to the mandap. The family members stood like mannequins as Purab and Aliyah got married.

Great chapter . I was laughing for most of it...that Tannu Aaliya fight was just too much. Glad Purab came back to stand up for Pragya since she didn't stand up for herself. Curious to see how you finish this.
