Okay, now an important announcement!! Now that I have got my result of final year, I will be getting the joining date sooner or later. So I must finish off my stories soon. Because I wont be able to write once I join my job! So, I have decided to go a little faster with the story... I will be hurrying through some parts of the story, please don't mind... Hope you understand... It is better to finish the story than to keep it incomplete, isn't it?

EK ANOKHI KAHAANI - Part 55
Aastha parked her bike some distance away from the Agnihotri Mansion. She walked slowly to the gate and peeped in to see that Shlok's car was still there. She had to wait for him to leave so that she could talk to the Agnihotris about the plan of the surprise birthday party. Rahul had already informed Varad about the party and Varad had told about it to everyone, except Shlok ofcourse.
Aastha was thinking about her ideas when she suddenly felt a gentle pat on her shoulder. "Oh no!! Shlok! What will I tell him?" she thought as she closed her eyes before she turned. To her relief, it was the watchman. She sighed. Phew!!
"Arey Aastha madam? When did you come? I will inform Shlok Saheb right now... Sorry, I didn't see you come...!" saying so, the watchman went to his cabin and picked up the reciever of the phone to call Shlok. Aastha hurried to him and snatched the reciever cutting the call.
"No!!! Don't tell him!!"
The watchman stared at Aastha in shock and confusion. Aastha decided to tell him about the surprise party so that he wont create any problems in the future. The watchman understood what she told him and agreed to offer all the help needed. He was very excited about the party. Aastha told him to inform her when Shlok left for office and she walked to her bike.

Shlok asked the peon to tell Aastha to get some report. The peon informed that Aastha had not come to office. Shlok was surprised. It was almost lunch time and Aastha hadn't come yet. Shlok called Aastha. Aastha's phone began ringing when she was discussing her idea about the party with everyone at the Agnihotri Mansion. She excused herself and picked up the call.
"Aastha? You haven't come to office today? Why? Are you okay? You didn't even inform me! Is everything alright?" Shlok said almost in one breath.
Aastha wasn't sure what to say. She was thinking of an excuse.
"Aastha? Say something!!" said Shlok impatiently.
Aastha faked a sneeze. Coughing purposely, she said in a pale voice, "Actually... I am a little unwell Shlok... Cough and cold... a little fever too.." The others standing beside her guessed that it was Shlok's call and seeing Aastha's acting, they tried to control their laughter with great difficulty.
"See, I had told you... We should have gone in my car!! Pad gayi na beemaar!!" scolded Shlok, "Did you see a doctor?"
"No Shlok... No need to see a doctor... I'll be alright in a day or two..!!"
Just then Shlok got another call and he said that he would talk to Aastha later. Aastha sighed as the call ended and then everyone including Aastha burst out laughing. They realised how difficult this was going to be. They resumed their discussion with everyone giving their valuable inputs. Combining all the ideas and suggestions, they finally came up with a super celebration plan. They all thanked Aastha and offered to help in every possible way. Rahul too was in touch with Aastha and Varad to know about their progress.
Shlok called Aastha again in the evening to know about her health. Aastha was about to tell him that she would not be coming to office the next day, but Shlok himself told her to take rest for another day. Aastha was happy that she got what she wanted without even asking. Shlok just hoped that Aastha got well soon.

The preparations of Shlok's birthday party were going on in full fledge. Everyone was closely associated with Aastha and they adored her. Aastha and Aditi bonded very well with each other. Sojal and Varad were very happy to see that everyone liked Aastha. They had no idea that Aditi was planning to propose Shlok on his birthday. They had almost forgotten that Aditi had come here to marry Shlok. But Aditi was planning for her surprise to Shlok. She thought that there wouldn't be a more special day than this to propose Shlok. She wanted to make the proposal very special and unique! She knew Shlok would say 'yes' because she believed that he loved her. She decided to prepare a special birthday card for Shlok. It was a special heart-shaped card red in colour. There was an opening in the center with a picture of Shlok depicting that Shlok lived in Aditi's heart. There were some words written on it... I love you Shlok! And I know you love me too!! Will you marry me? Aditi was very excited for the moment when Shlok would say 'yes'..!!

Shlok found Aastha's behaviour a bit strange. She avoided talking to him whenever possible because she feared that she would reveal about the surprise party by mistake. But Shlok didn't understand why Aastha was avoiding him. Shlok noticed that she was answering her calls secretly. She left office early a couple of days. Shlok tried to ask her about it but she avoided everytime. And Shlok wasn't able to understand how every time Rahul appeared from nowhere whenever Shlok wanted to talk to Aastha. Little did he know that Rahul and Aastha were in the same team!
On the day before his birthday, Shlok decided to confront Aastha no matter what. Aastha was about to leave as she had to go supervise all the preparations of the party, when Shlok called her in his cabin.
"Sir, I have some important personal work to do... So I have to leave early today!" she said and pulled the door of the cabin to leave.
But Shlok pushed the door close and turned Aastha towards himself holding her arms. Aastha was shocked at his action. Shlok left her arms immediately.
"Aastha, what's going on? I want to know!! You are hiding something from me!" he said staring into her eyes.
Aastha was just staring at him with an open mouth knowing not what to say. "Sir, I will tell you everything later... I must go right now!" said Aastha.
But before she could move to the door she found herself trapped between Shlok's arms, the wall behind her and Shlok standing in front looking straight into her eyes.
"Aastha, please tell me! Why are you avoiding me these days?" he urged. Aastha felt so bad for Shlok, but how could she reveal the surprise? Aastha looked into his watery eyes and she could see fear and pain in them. "I won't let you go unless you tell me!" he said.
"Nothing like that Shlok..." said Aastha, "Why would I avoid you?"
"I don't know that Aastha... But you have changed! Why? So suddenly? Did I do anything wrong?"
"No Shlok...!!" Aastha felt guilty hearing Shlok's words. But she had to leave now. "Shlok, believe me! I have to leave for an important work... We will talk about it later! Okay?" Shlok did not seem convinced. He wasn't ready to let her go. She placed her palm on his cheek gently and said, "You need not worry Shlok, believe me..." She gently pushed away his arms and left the cabin.

Shlok was sitting on his bed wondering why Aastha had changed. Just then his phone buzzed. He had recieved a message. He opened it to see... "Happy Birthday Shlok!! Lots of love, Aastha" He realised that it was 12 o'clock and Aastha was the first one to wish him. He was so happy to see the message that he read it again and again. He recieved wishes from others too.
Shlok left for office as usual. He was excited to meet Aastha on this special day. As soon as he entered the office, all the staff welcomed him singing "Happy Birthday". The office was beautifully decorated. Shlok was surprised to see all this. He searched for Aastha but didn't find her. He asked Mansi about her and she told him that Aastha was not coming to office today. Shlok couldn't believe it. How could she not come even though she knew today was his birthday? Rahul too had not come. Shlok was very sad. He called Aastha many times but she didn't pick up.
Aastha was very busy at the Agnihotri Mansion and she didn't notice the calls on her phone as it was on silent mode. Rahul was there too. They wanted the party to be perfect and so everyone was working hard.
Shlok was very upset as he drove in through the gate of Agnihotri Mansion when he returned from office. The home was absolutely silent, that's what they had planned. Shlok walked to the door. The door was left open. He pushed the door and a surprise awaited him! There were showers of flower petals and sparkles on him as the band played the "Happy Birthday" song to him. Everyone was present there smiling from ear to ear, clapping as they sang. Shlok was so glad to see Aastha and Rahul. He couldn't believe they had planned such a big surprise for him. He was overwhelmed by the love and wishes he recieved. He smiled at Aastha as he understood why she was avoiding him what she was hiding...
