Gehna looked pretty in her pink saree or is it ghagra.

They must have thought that white is regressive.

And the villagers should have a dress code not to wear white attending shoksabha,

DS is the boss and if she decides what is good, it should be good and acceptable.

Why to invite villagers? They could have conducted a simple home ceremony.

Maybe to show villagers are fools and regressive and BH people are progressive.

Will villagers learn some lessons by this?

I think creatives went overboard. Gahna was first in red and then in pink with lace border -compared to her - both Anandi and Ganga were in simple saree in pastle shades. It would have been better if they gave similar saree/ghaghra to Gahna - her dress was beautiful, but way too flashy for the occasion. Even in real life - in cities, ladies in similar situation wear simple saree and then on terahvi/barsi - they are given colourful clothes (except red) and bindi, bangles, nail-polish etc.
Progressive thinking, but overdone in serial ways...

Anandi doesn't need to give bhashans😛 now there are enough people in the story who embraced her ideology and are wiling to propagate those ideas

What DSa did today is something that Anandi had been doing from the time she reached the age where could walk and talk😉😆
The Dsa who defended Gehna today is the same Dsa who locked up Anandi in dark room for putting bangles on Asha's hands.
All the patience with which she bore Dadisa and her regressive ideas have finally paid of.
All the bhashans and alternately putting up with this cranky old lady has showed the results.
That was a fine argument from Dadisa.
Women stayed silent after opposing her.
It is some of the men who accepted the argument.
So nothing has changed with Dsa's bhashan they just accepted her decision regarding Gehna it is not like they have shown all changing their opinion after her speech.

It is not easy to change overnight. The traditions and customs somehow connect to the religious identity also.

I think other religion people also follow some dress code during these occasions.

Red bindi has significance in south india. And there is haldi kumkum rasam where only married women with husbands alive are invited.

Sometimes I wonder why men dont have all these external symbols? Why only women have to carry this burden?

ICAM! 😆 Atleast people won't tend to sleep during the DS bashan, since she knows how to grab people's attention without sending your eardrums into a snooze!

There is a difference. When anandi says these things, it is like a lecture. And when dadisa does it, it looks that she is explaining something convincingly. It is easier to accept these things from old people than young people.

Men do had such things, In fact the toe ring married women wear these day, was actually worn by men in the olden days as a marriage symbol just like mangalsutra for women! But just like other ornaments patriarchal society made that to be compulsory for women, unfortunately!

@ bold - I also have same question -to which nobody provided a satisfactory answer. I think, this is part of patriarchal mindset - linking shringaar with husband. Even when a married woman does not like bindi, sindoor, bangles etc. she is majboor to wear these external symbols. On the other hand a widow cannot wear these even if she is fond of them.
