Is there any reason behind ashok's proposal?
I dont think ashok is madly in love with shagun.Till now i thought he is using her against raman.
but marraige proposal?

I was confused also about the proposal.
He was even giving thoughts about having someone younger in his
life when in meeting it was suggested.

To keep instigating Raman, he needs to keep his clutch on Shagun coz Ashok can easily get rid of Shagun whenever he wants but till the time Adi's custody lies in the hands of Shagun, Raman will be attached to her and during this case, it was clear that Shagun trusted Raman more for the well being of her son rather than Ashok, so to gain back that trust, Ashok's engagement drama started.

I think he is doing this because some days before shogun say she go back to Raman again...if this happen it is loss for him n Raman win...so he make shogun realise he is better for her n give marriage proposal as shogun does not leave him...shogun is nothing as business deal it profit n loss...
