Why are all female Punjabi roles portrayed as Alcoholics in movies?

I find it strange too. Considering it's mostly Punjabi men who are drunkards.. women, not really. Though the ones here in UK do drink occasionally.. but not regularly as they're shown in films.

I don't believe in the 'Sikh Punjabis' hoopla. You're either a Sikh who follows the teachings or you don't and aren't one. 'Punjabi' is a more generic term. Not everything is black and white in life but for me, this is.

I don't judge either, but I don't consider them a 'Sikh'. That's my outlook, not a fact set in stone and that definitely doesn't mean I think they're inferior to Sikhs who are baptized. At the end of the day it's all about what kind of a person you are. People who drink etc. could be much better people in life than religious extremists (and I know some) who don't touch alcohol and condem and judge people who do.
