Chapter 1:
A woman with long ebony hair yawned silently while lying on the bed of her room. Preeti blinked a few times and looked to the side, noticing the other half of the bed was empty.
Prem must have been up early,' she thought.
She decided to get up and begin her day as it was already past 10. She made her way toward the bathroom so she could take a shower.
After spending 20 minutes getting ready, she headed downstairs where she saw her in-laws sitting in the living room while having a guest.
She approached them with a smile forming on her lips as she greeted the unknown woman. With that she made her way toward the kitchen where she saw Sapna making tea for them all.
A few minutes later they both came inside the living room and began to serve it.
Preeti heard the woman asking Mamta how her sons were doing and if they were expecting some good news lately. The woman's eyes were lingering on Preeti while she continued o talk to Mamta.
"Mamta, you've got such good daughter-in-laws I must say," she laughed lightly.
"But I was wondering if there was any news regarding Prem? I mean many years have gone by yet no news of new family member?"
She continued. "As you just told me, Vinod and Sapna aren't busy with taking the next step then I thought maybe Prem and Preeti were.."
The young brunette couldn't help but blush by her words, so she excused herself and went inside the kitchen and leaned against the wall behind her. Her cheeks started to add color and she wondered why she was feeling a tingling feeling at the pit of her stomach.
Part of her couldn't help but smile at the thought of starting a family with the man she had loved ever since she was a teenage girl. She would never have thought that fate would bring them together one day.
She shook her head and went up to her room so he could get ready for her shift at the hospital. A few hours later she headed down the stairs where her eyes caught her father-in-law sitting on his desk doing some paper work.
She approached him. "Uncle, I'm going to the hospital for a while so I'll be back late in the evening when my shift will be over."
He looked up with a smile. "It's okay. Just make sure you'll drive safely! Call if you need anything." She nodded gently before heading out.
As she made was driving she couldn't help but think of what her day might bring her. She had always been very attached to people and trying to make a difference in a more health way toward others.
She always wanted to make a change and help people the best way she could. Therefore she had decided in an early age that she would become a doctor, because at that time there were no better ways to contribute her help then looking out for her patients.

A few weeks later:
One afternoon both Sapna and Sadhna had gone out on a caf as they needed to buy a few things. They returned back home a few hours later where they found Preeti had returned from work. The two women decided to spend their afternoon in the garden area while enjoying the fresh smell of flowers and scenery.
Preeti, who was always the talkative person, was rather quite that day. For some reason she wasn't paying attention to anything which was being said at the given moment.
She found herself too occupied with her trails of thoughts that she almost didn't hear Sapna calling her name.
"Preeti?"
Sapna moved her hand in front of her to see if she was okay. "Hey, are you listening? Preeti. Earth to Preeti?"
"Huh?" The brunette looked puzzled at her childhood friend.
"Sorry, what did you say?"
Sapna had a concerned look on her face. "Are you feeling alright?"
Preeti only gave a half smile to them. "Yeah, I'm fine. Nothing to worry about."
Sadhna placed a hand on her shoulder. "You know you can tell us anything. We're here for you always."
Preeti raised her gaze and knew she meant well. She had always been an older sister to her.
"Actually, you know what the last few days have been very tiring for me. That's why I haven't really paid attention to anything. I think I'm starting to have a headache as well. Mind if I go and rest a bit?" She walked passed her and up to her own room.
During the evening Prem had gotten home from a long meeting he had attended. It was a rather tiring day for him but it somehow vanished away when he heard that Preeti hadn't eaten anything since that morning.
He took the plate of food out from the microwave and went upstairs to the room where he saw her lying on the bed. Preeti scooted up in a sitting position when she saw him enter.
He sat down on the bad facing her with a smile. "Hey" he said softly. "Are you feeling better from the headache?"
She nodded. "A little bit."
He took the bowl with chicken soup where they ate together.
Suddenly a thought ran across her mind which made her eyes almost well up.
How could she let him know the real reason of her headache?
It would only break his world into pieces. She quietly bit her lip and tried her best not to think about the thought she had in her mind.
