In principle she has said yes to Jhanu Barua's new Hindi film. But there are issues to be resolved. "To begin with the script was in English. I didn't want to do it until I saw the Hindi draft. Now I've agreed to do it. After Rituparno Ghosh's Last Lear it's again a different route for me. But I'm not doing these films to be different. These are challenging roles. And that's what counts for me." The dates are yet to be confirmed. And what about Shahji Karun's film to be produced by Bobby Bedi? "Bobby has barely called me once. It's not even under discussion let alone negotiation right now. This is as unfounded as the 'news' that I was playing Sonia Gandhi. It's so silly." Preity has made a decision on her career. "This year I want to do everything different. I'm proud of even the worst films I've done. They've been a part of my journey. I've been at it for nine years. This year I've a Jhoom Baraabar Jhoom and a Last Lear side by side. " Preity is very excited about Ritu's film on another count. "Though I've worked with Mr. Bachchan earlier it was in passing. My character in Armaan was in a coma when he arrived. And in Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna I barely had two scenes with him. So this is my first full-fledged film with him." Sighs Preity, "This year started a sober note for me. My dog who was fine suddenly passed away within a week. But things have brightened up. Thank God, everything is fine now. She cheers up at the mention of the Jhoom word. "With Shaad Ali you don't feel you're working. There's just so much fun on the sets. Maybe it's because of the kind of film that JBJ was. If I did another kind of film with Shaad maybe the atmosphere would be different. If I did a more serious film I wouldn't feel the same kind of mast." |
