Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania: 6 reasons to watch the film

Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan's on screen jodi- They made a smashing debut with Dharma Production's Student of the Year and are set to entertain audiences once again with another Dharma venture, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. Although Alia Bhatt and Varun were a couple in SOTY, she ended up with Siddharth Malhotra. In this film too, Alia plays a girl called Kavya who is set to marry a lad approved by her family. When she goes for her wedding shopping to Delhi from Ambala, she meets Humpty Sharma aka Varun Dhawan and love eventually blossoms. It remains to be seen if Alia and Varun end up together in this film as there is a hot villain too- Siddharth Shula of Balika Vadhu fame. But whatever the outcome, Alia and Varun look good together on the silver screen. Both are good looking, share a comfortable rapport with each other and both have been praised for their acting and dancing skills. They are one of the hottest jodis to be paired onscreen and this unique combination has been a hit before.

Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt's off screen chemistry- The crackling chemistry between the lead pair, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt is hard to ignore. Their friendship started while shooting for Student of the Year and there were even rumours that the two were dating each other. But whatever the truth, their close bond and friendship is too cute and makes it one of the biggest reasons to go watch Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. Describing their equation, Alia said in an exclusive interview to Bombay times, "Varun and I share a love-hate relationship. We fight almost all the time. People around us are always telling us to stop. It's a lot like our film characters, Humpty and Kavya. We fight so much because we actually love each other." 03
Tribute to Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge- Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania which releases on 11th July 2014, is an ode to the 1995 film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge starring Shahrukh Khan and Kajol. This Aditya Chopra directed film broke all box office records and is one of the most loved romantic films in the history of Indian cinema. The movie was loved by Indians all over the world and made Kajol and SRK the most loveable jodi ever. And Karan Johar has been an unabashed fan. At the trailer launch of the film the director was quoted saying, " "I have a lot of memories of DDLJ. I started my career from there, it is and will be the largest part of my career. The film with its epic love story and innocence had set the barometer," adding, " "After this, a lot of love stories were made but nobody could touch that bar. It is the pillar of love stories," he added. According to a report in IANS, actor Varun Dhawan spoke about this special tribute, "It is a modern-day tribute to DDLJ, it is a modern 2014 version of DDLJ so there's no melodrama. Today's youth reacts very differently to authority. So, it's not a copy, it's a humble, small tribute." "This is a 2014 family film. India has progressed a lot, almost a revolution happened. The youth brought about a big change. There's a lot of fire, lots of angst so we are bringing out that part. So we are trying to show what a modern-day family film is," he said. 04
New Face- Siddharth Shukla makes his Bollywood debut with this film. The Balika Vadhu actor catapulted to fame over night when he entered as Shiv on the TV show and became a much loved character. When Siddharth went on to participate on dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 6, he vowed one of the judges-Karan Johar, who called him hero material. So impressed was the ace director that he cast him in his new venture. Siddharth plays a parallel lead in the film and promises to be as charming on the silver screen. 05
Good Music- Alia Bhatt made her singing debut with Highway and she carries forward that tradition once again in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. She sang Sooha Saaha along with Zeb in Highway and now she's sang the female unplugged version of the song Samjhawan which she ahs dedicated to co star Varun Dhawan. Even the song Saturday Saturday has been a huge hit online and is a peppy party number that makes you want to dance. The songs ahve been much lvoed with a balanced mix of romantic and peppy numbers. The music has been given by Sachin - Jigar and Toshi Sabri and going by the audiences' response to it, the music certainly is becoming the face of HSKD and is one of the big attractions to go and watch it. 06
A Dharma Production film- Anything coming from this banner is sure to be a hit. Stories like Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Agneepath, 2 States, Student of the Year and My Name is Khan to name a few, have done wonders at the box office while making Karan even more successful in his ventures. So it comes as no surprise that Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania will be as loveable and seemingly a sure shot hit. The trailer of the film got 1 million views on YouTube on the day of its release online and Siddharth has also been much appreciated. That apart, KJo's penchant for larger than life stories, extravagant sets, good looking actors and an emotional love story, seem to make their way in this film too. Alia and Varun proved their chemistry to the world in Dharma's Student of the Year and there is no reason why audiences won't like them together in this film too. Karan's a genius and once again he's taken a typical Punjabi lad in this film trying to woo his lady love by going to any lengths to get her.
