Scene 7
Back to the Ranawats, Mohini is busy on the phone.
Mohini - Nahi, Nahi Sisodia sa ji. Chinta ki koi baat na hai.
Mohini - No, No, Sisodia sa ji, There is absolutely nothing to worry about.
Mr S - Arre, Mohini ji, kaise nahi hai baat, chinta ki. Beti ka baap hoon, aur phir, aap aur aapka beta chup-chap hi chale gaye.
Mr S - Oh! Come on, Mohini ji, how could this, not be a matter of concern? I am the father, and then, you and your son, left off, silently. (Means did not respond postively)
Mohini is irritated, while Mr S goes on.
Mr S - Kuch bataya ku nahi. Aur mhaare toh, poochne ka farz banta hai, na? To phir, ke irrada hai, aap logon ka?
Mr S - You did not say anything. And then, I am obliged to ask for the same, right? And so, what are your plans, finally?
Mohini (encouragingly) - Arre! Irrada, nek hain, bhai sa! Aapki chori hame bahut pasand hai.
Mohini - Oh! Plans/Thoughts - they are all headed in the right direction. We liked your daughter.
Mr S smiles, happy with the positive response.
Mohini(trying to stall the following questions, that he may have, handle the situation) Lekin, voh, umm.. mhane voh.. Samrat aur aapki chori, ek doosre ke saath, thoda zyaada waqath bita lein.
Mohini - But, that.. Umm.. I think.. Samrat and your daughter, should spend more time together.
Mr S is more than pleased and instantly agrees.
Mr S - Haan, theek hai.
Mr S - Yes, that is fine.
Mohini - Ek doosre ko jann le toh, accha hoga, na?
Mohini - Getting to know each other better, it would be good, right?
She turns around and Mythili is seen entering the same room, she decides to speak later.
Mohini - Mhane kuch kaam aa gaya hai, Sisodia sa? Main apne, thodi der baad phone karti hoon. Khamma ganni.
Mohini - I have some important work to tend to, Sisodia sa? I'll give you a call back, later. Bye.
Mythili is just right behind Mohini.
Mohini (oblivious to the fact that Mythili knows about the "buisness trip") - Accha kiya, tu apne aap hi aa gayi, bheendni. (She turns to get something, all excited) Thara ticket aa gaya hai! Myaake jaane ka. (Handing over the ticket) Yeh le.
Mohini - Good, you came forth yourself, DIL. Your ticket has arrived, to go to your mother's place.
Here take it.
Mythili (was all silent, now comes direct to the point, slowly) - Aisa kaisa kar sakti hain aap, Maa ji sa? Aur kyun?
Mythili - How could you do this, Maa ji sa? And why?
Mohini (stalling her question, changing the topic) - Kyun matlab? Bina ticket ke myaake jaayegi?
Main toh ticket manga liya hai.
Mohini - What do you mean by why? Without the ticket, you'll reach your mother's place? I have already booked the tickets. (As in they are ready)
Mythili (boldly and slowly) - Sab jann chuki hoon, Maa ji sa. Sab jannti hoon. Mhaare, hote huye aap.. (a pause) aap unhe ladki dikhane le gayi thi? Jab se aayi hoon, tabse iss ghar ke har sadasya ko apna samajha, sabhi se pyaar kiya, sabki nirswaarth seva ki, kabhi iss jaankari mein koi aanch nahi aane diya, (slightly teary-eyed) , koi daag nahi lagne diya. (almost choking) Phir bhi? Aapke bete mhaare saath bahut khush hain, mhaare se bahut pyaar kartein hain, uske (a pause) uske bavajood aap, (almost inaudible, given she is emotional) aap unhe ladki dikhane le gayi?
Mythili - I have come to know everything, Maa ji sa. I am aware of everything. If with me, being right here, you... you took him to see a girl? From when I have entered this house, I have treated all it's members as my own, I have loved/respected all of them, served them selflessly, never allowed any form of bad omen to loom/lurk around, never brought shame. Then too? Your son is very happy/contented with me, he loves me a lot, even.. even then you took him to see a girl?
Mohini turns around, now facing Mythili. Before this she was fuming and listening intently, all that her DIL had to say.
Mohini (with terrifying eyes, sternly) - Toh kya chahti hai, tu? Acchi bahu hone ka, thamga thaari chaati par laga doon? (Smirks, and moves away) Theek hai, thaara man t
Mohini - So what is it, that you desire?
