Is it rare for non star kids in Bollywood or exaggerated?

I dunno.

Logically. Bollywood will always have to consider outsiders who are more talented, better looking and appealing that no current crop of star kids offer.

Otherwise most movies will be full of fugly wannabe actors from the no talent lagoon. All because they are star kids ain't enough.

Example: Siddharth and articles of him an outsider, rarity. Technically he is not a star kid but had connections. Former model, worked as an film assistant etc. Not like he was a random actor with no connections that went to auditions and got selected out of 1000 applicants.

Not saying he has not worked hard but these articles always play this theme. Same with Ranveer Singh. Lesser extent Kangana Raut

If it is rare. Then what's

Aishwaryia

John Abraham

Priyanka Chopra

Bipisha Basu

Katrina Kaif

Arjun Rampal

Madhuri and many more who are some of the well known Bollywood actors from non film backgrounds

I don't like Neopotism but is this all just exaggerated that very few non star kids make it in Bollywood.

I think it's harder to get a debut but those that preform well on debut ( Ranveer, Anushka) are rewarded very well

All those people who made it are good looking people.. So the answer is an outsider can make it only if they are good looking..

It is visual image.. If they are good looking they will make it..

Ranveer singh is good looking?: He was not good looking at all during time of BBB.

I know so many girls who are crazy for ranveer.. They have been crazy for him ever since bbb.. Bottom line is only upper class who are good looking generally make it..I give you the example of actors that are average looking.. Irfan khan, manuj bajpai nawazudeen sediqui, and even naseerudin shah..it took them years to get in to bw.. Even now often times their performances get overlooked because of their looks..

The thing is the pool of stars coming from a filmy background is so huge that it is not surprising when one or two good stars come from bollywood families. E.g. Hritik, Farahan, etc.

Yes, outsiders are taken but do they get proper launching? Sid got proper launching and today we can say he is successful. Ranveer got proper launching and he is on his way to be the next superstar. What about others? Lets take an e.g. of Puneet Singh Ratn from Satya 2. The guy is from non-filmy background. He is tall, has good looks, can act. How many people even know his name? I had to google Satya 2 to get his name. Why would people bother for stars who are not properly launched.

The issue is all those names u mentioned on their time skill counts rather then marketing. Now the major part occupied by marketing and promotion whr anyone can become a hero or heroine with good strategy.

If you don't think this is average looking guy, I would hate to see what your average looks like

SRK's looks were disadvantage if anything, he made it big because of his charm and screen presence not because of his looks which were rather average.
