Top 5 Films: Jan 2014 - June 2014
The first half of 2014 is over. We saw many films reaching 100cr club and we also saw some films which couldn't make a mark at the box-office, but they were cherished by critical acclaim.
In our feature we get you top 5 films of the first half of 2014 (from Jan 2014- June 2014).
1) Queen:
Vikas Bahl's Queen is surely one of the best films of 2014. A totally different storyline and above all Kangana Ranaut's great performance made the film super-hit at the box-office. The movie had everything that a moviegoer wants- good music, fantastic storyline and great performances. Queen deserves to be at number 1 spot in our list.
2) Holiday:
After two back to back flops like Boss and Once Upon ay Time in Mumbai Dobaara! Akshay Kumar proved that he is still in the race to be the best. His flick Holiday, directed by A.R. Murugadoss, is one of the finest films made in Bollywood. The film tackled the issue of sleeper cells very well and even gave a good message.
3) Jai Ho:
Jai Ho starring Salman Khan in lead was not a perfect Salman Khan style masala flick. It had a message, which touched everyone's heart. Though the film collected a below expected amount, one cannot regret that story wise and acting wise it was one of the best films of Salman Khan.
4) 2 States:
Not all the filmmakers are successful in converting a book into a film, but director Abhishek Varman finely converted the book 2 States into an excellent film. The movie had an entertainment factor and even the sparkling chemistry between Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt worked in the favour of the film.
5) Lakshmi:
Nagesh Kukunoor has made some great films like Iqbal and Dor and this year he shocked us with his dark flick Lakshmi. The movie was about child prostitution and Nagesh really showed us some hard hitting truth behind the child prostitution. Lakshmi commercially failed, but it was applauded by critics.
