Aamir demands extra Lajj(o)

The project has been shelved because Khan wanted profits of the film to be a part of his renumeration

Aamir Khan's demand for a large share of profits in Lajjo has put the brakes on the film.

Producer Bobby Bedi and director Mani Ratnam were shocked when Khan laid down his terms.

They decided to keep the film on hold till they found another actor for the character as it wasn't commercially feasible to give in to Khan's demands.

Says a source, "Aamir did not put down his demands initially and Ratnam finalised Kareena Kapoor for the heroine's role. All seemed to be going well until Aamir dfropped the bomb.

He asked for a huge share in the profits made on the film." To be fair to Aamir, a lot of A-list actors are now demanding for a overseas territory along with their fee.

Not the first time

When contacted, Bedi does not deny Aamir demanding a share in the profits in Lajjo, "This is not the first time it has happened that Aamir has asked for a share in the profits.

He did that with me in Mangal Pandey — The Rising and I am sure that he must have functioned in a similar way in 'Rang De Basanti'," Bedi says.

"The only reason why Lajjo didn't happen is that we weren't ready with the script and Aamir was very busy with Taare Zameen Par. So we let it pass, for some time at least," Bedi maintains.

An insider reveals, "Money was not the only problem. Aamir even interfered with the script. He wanted many changes made. Mani Sir is not used to this type of dominance. He did not like it."

For now Bobby Bedi is making another film while Lajjo is on hold. Asked if he would cast Aamir then, Bedi says diplomatically, "It is difficult to say."

Aamir-Kareena: Third time lucky?

This is the second time that the Kareena-Aamir pairing failed to take off.

Before Lajjo, Vishal Bhardwaj had planned to direct Kareena and Aamir in the now shelved Mr Mehta and Mrs Singh.

Lets hope the next time they are signed together, the project works out

why amir khan is trying to changing the script.it,s mani ratnam,s job and he is only a main lead in the movie. he is not supposed to tell mani ratnam what he needs in his script. he should do his job and let other pepole do their job.it,s not amir khan,s movie.

Thx, Aamir intefering with the script is his perfectionism going overboard but the money issue is not a shocker when most stars are getting paid millions for even minor roles like Malika's stint in AKS.
