EV earns more than RL nd Gunday,does Ranveer's starpower really exist?

Ek Villian had first day of 16.72 crore beating all first day openers of other films which had Sid's other competitors acting in it (besides Ranbir)

It's overrated . Except RL in which deepika was a bigger star none of his movies are clean hit .Having said that ,let's not forget that EV also has riteish deshmukh who is having a good BO run .Can Sid give such a opening with a solo hero movie ?

Even though it did gross more than 2 States, MTH and other flicks but whats more noting and surprising is that Ranveer, which is considered to be next superstar and is believed to be only real competition to Ranbir has both his 'HIT' films earning less than Ek Villian on first day.

Ranveer had Ram Leela grossing 14.91 crore something. The film was U/A certified, it had gorgeous Deepika which was having a great year, SLB kinda film with hit songs, great promos and even an item song by Priyanka. It also had huge buzz mainly because of Deepika-Ranveer offscreen romance...

On other hand, Gunday had Priyanka, Arjun besides him, amazing songs and it can be said to be YRF film that had huge promotions after years. Despite this, the film earned 14.82 crore on its first day and was finally said to be average grosser.

Ek Villian also was somehow going on similar lines with great promos, amazing songs and film by Mohit Suri whose A2 was loved by everyone but it didn't have a Deepika but Shraddha as leading actress. It had Sid which was written off as wodden and was only 2 film old. But despite this, the film earned whopping 16.72 crore and was also on verge on breaking Jai Ho's record.

So what do you think...Does Ranveer's stardom really exist? Does he need to work hard to have long run in rat race? OR Is just plain overrated?

RK's besharam was a flop, didn't matter what it earned 1st day, did it?
Sid's earlier release was HTP- flop/average. You cannot claim aspects regarding starpower on the basis of one film.

Ranveer is no SRK or Salman..that a he will make a crappy script like Gunday blockbuster.

And finally, next year will be the make or break year for Ranveer. If DDD has a bigger opening than Ek Villain or Ranbir's movie MEANS NOTHING. Don't come and claim again ''Does Ranbir's stardom really exist?'' 😆

Ranveer as well as others need to work extremely hard to sustain coz it seems like u are not only as good as your last hit but also as good as the latest bb. EV missed being the biggest opener of the year by inches bt also it missed topping the 20crs that ranbir did with besharam. So leave alone ranveer this topic should also include ranbir he is considered the next big thing after the khans and yet it took him how many movies to get a 20 cr opening and siddy boy does this in his3rd film. And may I say that sid hasn't had any romantic link ups like those 2, ranbir went from dp to kat which along with his movies made him as popular as he is now and the same goes for ranveer. Just like salman had to learn with jai ho its the quality of the movie that is gona get ppl to watch the movie on the big screen and that positive promotions and buzz is needed so do all these other actors. India at the moment seems to want to give the new lot if the movie is good a chance so really ranbir ranveer arjun sid and my fav varun need to maintain and do good films coz none of them are future superstars at the moment.

I agree. Ritesh is not that much of a star that people would go to watch a film only for him.

I am not gonna credit entirely Sid or Shraddha or Ritesh for the success. I think fresh pair, amazing songs, curiosity, Mohit etc contributed as well.

I will believe RS has starpower the day he gets a decent opening without an established actress.
