Today's episode was much better than yesterday's (where the scenes of Raja-Bittuji-Radha, JM-Raja, JM-Faguni, and Bittuji-Radha were excruciatingly irritating to watch as forcefeeding sympathy-gambits).
Comparatively, today's episode's sympathy-gambits were less sledgehammeringly blatant, though not anymore likely to get majority-audience's sympathy, since they have an unreassuringly consistent trackrecord of watching the female lead as respectful paragon of endurance to her husband and sasuraal in the face of protracted mental and/or physical torture, and as spirited crusader only for any topics outside that will either be totally outside her sasuraal or will preserve the sasuraal from further harm.
The CVs have three options.
The marital-rape became a non-issue for the majority-audience by its being between the popular lead-couple.
Raja forcing himself on her only when he was drugged and never previously was adequate alibi for mass-audience to condone a deed that they have repeatedly condoned in tracks where the male lead wasn't even drugged.
And excellent viewership for every dratted track where the female lead did *not* go crusading for justice against her male lead husband proves with formidable evidence that the matter doesn't give mass-audience even a moment of qualm.
Their only qualms can be counted on to manifest with maintained viewership-crash at the female lead behaving like a supporting character and fighting for her own rights, rather than enduring for herself and defending only others as expected of all female leads of serials with enough millions of viewership.
Option 1 - Opt for the most provenly successful viewership-rebuilding route, where JM suddenly stops her guaranteedly mass-unappealing 'jungli jaanwar' jaap of her own superiority, and wins over Raja and Dauji by her gentleness and conduct (logic can take a flying leap).
If they could show JM behaving like that with AK's Dolly-chachi after being called thief and shoes-wiping, then Dauji has comprehendingly done her far less harm comparatively. He, Raja and JM have been played as pawns, and none of them are selfless saints (from 2nd week of May 2014 onwards) to stand on high ground.
Option 2 - Have JM find out about Bhanu's drugging Raja, so that she can consider Raja and herself as both victimized by Bhanu, rather than herself as the lone victim.
She can then proceed to somehow expose Bhanu to Raja and Dauji (*not* make wasted accusations that Raja would then disbelieve, wasting the serial's screentime, scenes and probably episodes for such a stupid cliche).
The couple could then *unitedly* work against the antagonist (rather than the channel/CVs sterling twofold floprecord for this series of either the antagonist winning until the last few minutes of a track, or the mass-unappreciable inadequately-traditional heroine as the solo rescuer and saviour. Every track on both these variations has crashed with remarkably foreseeable lack of viewership).
Let the couple fight *together* against the antagonist, effectively and successful at every increasing step, culminating in their combined triumph as a couple.
Option 3 - Have Raja soften first (with or without finding out about Bhanu's drugging Raja and/or Bhanu's not fully informing JM about Baiji) and seek reconciliation with JM, while JM rejects that for a brief or extended length of time before yielding.
The CVs may perhaps have an assurance of their viewership continuing to crash by that route, with mass-audience definitively sure to switch the channel until *after* the couple has reconciled and the husband is no longer in the mass-unappealing position of supplicant to a wife who has been staggeringly disrespectful in her repudiation of the marriage for almost two months of episodes.
The characters could be scripted to do as many sympathy-gambits as they like in the meanwhile, with as track-crashing lack of mass-sympathy and mass-viewership as in all previous tracks.
Desperately hoping the channel/CVs will have the prudence to opt for either option 1 or option 2, rather than blunder into option 3 which may be considered foreseeably sure of maintaining lack of mass-viewership consistent with all the other simultaneous and previous tracks of the channel.
The only upside is that however less viewership this series gets, it's in the same league as the other fictional serials of the channel. Some reassurance of calibre in being en masse.
Hoping we can stop being inundated with the chafingly uncouth 'jungli jaanwar' jaap from JM as well as from her kin.
Would prefer Bittuji's and his family's presence as little as possible.
But would like Radha to move in with Raja, JM and Dauji, though not as a snobbish selfrighteous engineered-dialogues sympathy-gambits pawn that she has been scripted as at the chawl for the past several episodes. If as that, then she might as well remain at the chawl for a few episodes. At least her mass-popularity would remain somewhat secure, unlike Padmini's.
The episode was overall okay, though Faguni's earlier memorable speech about the wrong of executing murderers and thereby widowing their wives had me mute her sympathy-gambit dialogues for JM yesterday and today in pre-emptive caution.
On a different note, the stuffing being strewn around the room reminded of the pillows spilling feathers all over the bedroom set during the 'gulaabi' song. Got to admire the effort of whoever actually tackled the onscreen mess offscreen that time and this time. And to add to that, it's all white.
And Raja's changed his shirt. Now tomorrow, looking forward to JM in a different sari.
Petrified about forthcoming scenes content and invariably wasted sympathy-gambits, but at least both leads may finally be doing their scenes in changed outfits after several episodes tomorrow.
