A Strange Symbolism in old Mala-Rudra Scene

I was watching the Feb 26th episode...and I noticed something at that time and was a bit surprised...But now that I look back, maybe the writers were giving us a clue about the mother-son relationship...

So this was that rainy night when Rudra and Aman were at a checkpost and they stop Tejawat's car with Mala in it.
When she rolls down the window to ask if they are done checking and if she is free to leave...through the rain Rudra and Mala's eyes meet...and HE feels the connection NOT she!!
So much so that he is left speechless with the unknown emotion for a few seconds till Aman shakes him out of it. Whereas Mala just rolls the window back up and moves on without any signs of any disturbance...

In all the serials and movies that I've seen, it's the MOTHER who senses her child's proximity immediately...who feels the strange premonition about his nearness or his pain or any impending danger to him...So I wonder what this was...

A symbolism...a clue...that Mala was always a bit selfish? a bit uncaring about her child? That her child was not the first priority in her life?

Any thoughts would be appreciated

I agree with u... If at all she considers him to be her life as she claims to be, she would've sensed something at the time...

Good catch, yeah it says a lot about Mala and Rudra's relationship. In that scene what comes across is that Mala has moved on and in her new identity as the Thakurain she does not even sense her own. But Rudra never moved on...no matter how he feels about his mother...she is always looming over him...in his thoughts...in his actions...in his entire life. A part of him has always waited for his mother to return, his soul is yearning for her and it recognizes her at the check point. She, on the other hand, says she cares about Rudra and asks about Rudra to Danveer but where it matters most she does not know her son, she does not even recognize him.

So true...It's fascinating how this show has brought forth these different mothers...

Mala who has always been weak...who didn't fight for her son...who gave up on him after a couple of half-hearted attempts...

Mohini who is selfish to the extent of sacrificing her own son Sumer to save her skin...

Paro's Mamisa who was also a mother-figure to her but delusional enough to trust blindly in Tejawat and refuse to recognize Paro even in the face of the fact that the girl would be led back to interrogation otherwise...
I still remember the brilliant dialogue by an incredulous Rudra---Tejawat, usse aisa rishta, ki apne rishton se rishta nahi...seems like so long ago...

Oh nice catch...those epis seem like eons ago now...but yes even then I think some of us wondered how come Mala felt no connect but Rudra felt it even while just seeing her eyes...

And given how these characters have turned out to be, it does add up...it's remarkable how much Rudra has ended up being affected by and VALUING the bonds he's made in his life considering that he was fed poison and bitterness for most of his life...yet he is able to nibhaao and value relationships better than both his weak-minded parents.

Even when he claimed cynicism, he was appalled by the speed with which people could spurn relationships and their most loved ones...this thought is UNTHINKABLE to Rudra...and it shows even now with the way he protects Paro, Dilsher even now...and soon he will defend Mala again as well as the spoilers say...this is the kind of guy he is when everyone else around him has failed him time and again.

Good observation...now that I think about it, you are right. Rudra felt something, but Mala was totally oblivious and unaffected...Still dont have much sympathy for her...she does come out as weak n selfish

Oh WOW...what an insight you have..👏👏 Now that you mentioned it,yes...it makes perfect sense. We have NEVER seen Mala pine for Rudra but ...Rudra has ALWAYS been pining for his mother. Now,one more reason for me to hate Mala , unless CVs have something up their sleeves which might unveil tonigh.

If mothers are like Mala then it's better to be without mothers.

I watched the whole episode again just so I don't mix up what I am about to say..
I do not agree with a single thing on this post.

I don't even feel that Rudra felt a connection. He is the one who signaled for the car to leave. I think he was sort of in deep thought thinking of Tejawat and why his wife was by herself so late and in bad weather. Obviously, she does not come out a lot alone.

Also, you have to understand that she had not seen her kid in FIFTEEN years! My dado hadn't seen my dad in about 5 and she didn't recognize him when he visited for the first time (pre-skype days). HIS OWN MOM did not know who he was until my mom introduced him! It happens.. this "tug" and "connection" is not 100 % accurate in the real life...

And I can't stand when people blame mala for not looking for him. She trusts her BIL blindly. He promised her he would reunite them once he came back; before then, she did try. She truly felt her BIL would honor his promise and make sure that Rudra is not poisoned against her. She tried taking him away.

Mala was not right for running away; but don't call her selfish and put the whole blame on her. Dilsher and circumstances are to be blamed too; all I am saying.
