I too don't believe the Vatsala story. It's not there in either MB or SB, and was probably written to reflect their parents - Abhimanyu for Arjun, Vatsala for Subhi, Laxman for Dury and so on. Has zero credibility for me, and just another vehicle to justify cousin marriages. 👎🏼

Although Sesirekha is mentioned in folk tales as Balaram's daughter, there is no mention of her anywhere in the main epics, Vyasa's Mahabharata or Bhagavatham. I doubt she even existed, because folk story says she married Abhimanyu during the Pandavas' vanvaas, while he and Subhadra were staying in Dwaraka, but Abhimanyu would have been a child then. How could he have gotten married? 😕 Even if he did, why didn't Sesirekha have any children, who would have been heirs to the Pandavas before Parikshit? Why would Lord Krishna choose a random princess from Virata to birth the Kuru vansh their heir when he had a niece married to his favorite nephew?
