I really enjoyed today's episode. After a long time, RR seems to be back on track, reminding me of the reason why I had started watching it initially.

- No over-the-top melodrama. Just regular people with normal (that rare commodity on Indian TV) reactions and emotions. So easy on the brain. I was getting tired of being advised to leave logic and my brains at home when watching Indian soaps. Although I doubt that reason and logic and "normal" reactions will stay long here, it's still a relief when they visit. So I'm thankful for that :-)

- The opening scene was adorable. I loved the continuity. How unexpected! The way Rudra turns towards Paro, extending his arm and then pulls her into his embrace...how nicely done.

- And Paro. I like this girl! She flirts with her husband! Talk about unexpected again! A woman on Indian TV who is actually attracted to her husband?!! Will wonders never cease! And on top of that, is not afraid to show it! Fantastic! That tremor of anticipation mixed with nervousness as she promises to do anything to make him happy, the way she looks expectantly at him after he takes her into his arms and shuts his eyes, the way she cheekily flirts asking if that is all, and then smiles at his threat and finally sinks into the embrace. Beautifully done. Both by the character Paro and by the actor Sanaya.

On a side note, if Rudra and Paro and Ashish and Sanaya keep going like this, I swear I'm going to have a heart attack one day! And be damn happy about it too!

- And Rudra. What do I say about this character? Except that writers have created a wonderfully complex man. In one single episode, we saw his restrained passion as he looked at his wife, his possessiveness as he locked her in his arms, his hands tightening his hold on her back (phew!).

Later, his controlled and almost automatic and direct response to his malicious aunt.

His directness. THAT's what I like most about Rudra. He's always direct. Doesn't believe in beating about the bush. Doesn't believe in sugar coating the facts (as he perceives them). Doesn't believe in hiding his vulnerability from his wife.

The scene after he witnesses his parents and wife laughing like a happy family...You can feel his claustrophobia. He needs to get out of there! Out of that space! He can't breathe! He wants to run! That's his instinct when it comes to facing this pain.

- But without a doubt, the masterpiece was the last scene, when Rudra drags his wife into his parents' room and lets loose his tandav. You can see the possessiveness again. HIS wife. HIS wife he repeats again and again. Her attention is elsewhere. Not on him! That's the way Rudra will always be when it comes to Paro. Even when everything is all sorted out with his mother. He can share Paro but ONLY if HE comes before everything for her. Ashish was brilliant as he displayed all these changing emotions.
His shock as his father slapped him...perfect. The look of shock giving way to betrayal from the last person he expected. He is going to go into double Tandav mood tomorrow! Cant wait! :-)

- Today for the first time I understood Paro. Like most others, I haven't liked Paro's actions. Not because she was going against Rudra. No. I'm ok with her disagreeing with him if she wants. No. The reason I didn't like Paro's actions were because I don't like goody goody, all sacrificing, saintly and frankly abnormal female leads who are promoted as the "Ideal Indian Woman" by our Indian soaps.

But today, her reasoning made sense. Rudra was ready to run again. His instinctive reaction when faced with this particular pain. And she has had enough of his running. She has seen first hand it has not served him well all these years. And it's not going to help now.
On a side note, When I was younger, I had gone through a bad breakup. Ironically, I had known it was coming, but I chose to ignore the very very obvious signs. As I had lain in bed crying one night when all hell had finally broken loose , my mother had come to me and told something which I have never forgotten. Closing your eyes to troubles or pain is not going to make it go away. It'll just become bigger and bigger, till one day it explodes in your face.

Paro explained that to Rudra today. The fact that he is still not ready to hear or understand it is a different issue. But as a viewer I am glad that the writers have finally explained Paro's actions to us, and so neatly.

- I realized something else today. Something I have always known but never really acknowledged fully, if you know what I mean. The dialogue writers of RR are absolutely brilliant!
That conversation between Mala and Ranawat...so awkward in the beginning and then the slow thawing with the help of memories. And that angst and sarcasm filled tirade by Rudra at the end... wow! Great dialogues!

We talk incessantly about Rudra and Paro, and the dynamics between father and son, and Sumer, and Mohini and the fantastic acting of the ensemble cast so on... we forget that it is the dialogue writers who give life to all of them!

None, and I mean None of these characters would hold any significance, create a place in our hearts if the words coming out of their mouths didn't endear them to us, didn't awaken us to their personalities, their weaknesses, their strengths, their...existence.

Hats off to the dialogue writers! Great job done. Thank you for not being tedious or unoriginal. Thank you for sticking to the character graphs. Be it words of rage or romance...they always hit the spot. And I appreciate that.

All in all, I am a satisfied customer today. Let's hope this run of luck continues. :-)

I totally agree...after many insufferable OTT epis last week (barring the Friday epi obviously), RR was on track again today.

The opening scene was definitely a pleasant surprise...I thought they'd cut to the next morning and a grouchy Rudra...but the fact that they followed it up with a very realistic husband-wife interaction was nice to see...the chemistry was on point...what's interesting is that such scenes are never shown b/w a couple on Indian TV unless the big SR has happened...lol...it's nice to see that the comfort level is so naturally shown b/w RP especially from Rudra's side as he's asserting himself now and expressing his desire for Paro without being coy about it.

Also loved the wording of the letter he left her in the morning...shows his possessiveness is only increasing more than ever..."Ab tere bhi bas ka nahin rahaa main"😆...Paro is laughing it off now but she is yet to realize what she's taken on is definitely more than she can handle.

Paro was definitely more understandable today than some previous epis in recent days...or I've just grown used to her Mala obsession I guess...but I liked how in the scene later on she tries to explain to Rudra that they cannot move on until the past is fixed first...see that was never the issue to begin with...if only they'd shown Paro saying more stuff like this in previous epis rather than ROAD-ROLLING Rudra...but oh well...let's see if this streak of luck continues as you said. Rudra obviously is just trying to ESCAPE the past again rather than coming to terms with it...and long term it won't work out...but I could understand his need to escape it today as well as Paro's reasoning so good to see that.

Loved the brief Rudra-Mohini interaction as well...after many days a crisp and ON POINT charged interaction b/w them rather than repetitive scenes...loved Rudra's response to her taunt.

There are many complex issues at work in the Dilsher-Mala-Rudra situation...Paro and the others want to rush RUDRA to accept Mala back without first fixing their OWN relationship issues...so let's see if that's addressed in the coming week.

Today's scene was a start...with Rudra deciding to atlast directly question Mala...and you're right, his possessiveness for Paro showed in that scene...MERI biwi, MERI Paro...very well done on the writing as well as acting part there.

Dilsher-Mala fail to realize that they owe Rudra answers before anything else...rather than sitting and crying about how he misunderstands her, Mala needs to speak up to someone atleast...and maybe she finally is going to to Paro tomorrow.

This seems to be heading towards showing an abusive Dilsher...if that is the case, then I hope to God the writers address this maturely rather than trying to go all happy family on this...it's hard to redeem a domestic abuser husband...and no matter what even then Mala owes Rudra answers for so many years...this is a very ridiculous storyline.

But today the flow of the episode was good and yes some good direction and writing...so I'm also a happy viewer.

Thank you for a lovely analysis :-)

Hi and thanks.

I'm also liking the way they're portraying this young married couple who have just confessed their love for each other. I have never been able to understand why Indian soaps show couples as asexual! Good to see the desire in these two! Now that's normal!
And the letter was a very nice touch too. I like scenes where I'm surprised, and that too so pleasantly. I'm glad RR has the knack of being unpredictable.

Dilsher seems definitely poised to turn out an abusive husband. If Mala was such a loving mother, as the writers have been suggesting again and again, it would have had to be something extreme to make her leave. Still doesn't make sense why she never tried contacting her son directly, but at least there seems to be a valid reason for her running away. Let's see how it plays out. Just hope they deal with it maturely like you said, rather than melodramatically.

LOL it takes a lot of maturity from the actors in question as well as the writing/directing team to get the aesthetics of such scenes right maybe that is why they aren't able to show them on Indian TV in general...more often that not they play out in a cliched manner or worse, end up looking CRASS.

But Friday's epi and the scene today showed such natural, earthy chemistry b/w these characters and that was nice to see. The letter deffo pleasantly surprised me too...Rudra's unpredictability usually surprises me in a pleasant manner only😆

Btw haven't seen any posts from you in ages since you made that one general post about the editing and storyline issues...so are you liking the current track overall?

Mala isn't going to be excused with the "Dilsher was abusive" card in my eyes cuz she still owes Rudra a lot of answers...this can't all be packed off onto Dilsher's shoulders so conveniently...if they go that route and try to venerate Mala like some devi, it will be very disappointing storytelling...Mala-Dilsher are both huge culprits in this with only Rudra as the victim and instead of trying to atleast ACKNOWLEDGE his suffering, they are busy being juvenile themselves and drowning in self-pity...pitiful creatures.

Re: posts...I'm trying very hard to restrain myself. This forum is very addictive! And I'm anyway checking it out too frequently for news and updates. And now I'm starting to post too! This does not bode well! Hahhaa

I'm going to wait and see how things unfold before stating whether I like this current track. What I've noticed is that the problems that crop up with the show are not with the choice of track but rather with its handling. The Laila track or the Tejawat track for instance...both had so much potential. But were let down hugely by very juvenile (the former) and rushed (the latter) handling. At least that's how I felt.

The Mala track is the mother of all tracks (pun intended)! It defines the very character of the main lead, and everything that has happened in the show so far has been a result of that. Obviously the writers were heading towards this, and it needs to be handled and resolved with great finesse and maturity. Whether the writers will devote adequate time and energy to that remains to be seen.

I just read that a new negative male character is to be introduced. I just hope they don't rush through the Mala track too, as they did with the other tracks, and in the process turn it into a big joke.

With Indian soaps, I have learnt to keep my expectations low...very low :-)
I don't excuse Mala for abandoning her child the way she did. But I have to admit that Dilsher being an abusive husband is at least a more tenable reason for her desertion than fleeing with a lover, which was also one possibility. Regarding D and M acknowledging the damage they've done to their child...I think that is a stage that they have still to reach. Right now the awkwardness both of them are feeling, impounded probably by immense feelings of guilt within their OWN relationship, is laying prominence. Which is understandable to an extent. It would have been more weird I feel if they had immediately come together in their realization of what they did to their child. It's just been one day since Mala has been back after all.
A day in RR is a looong time! Hahahhaa...

Like I said, let's see how and when things unfold. I'll be happy as long as it's done sensible!
