Shinde and Duryodhana

"FOR THE LAST TIME. You will get NO more money. Why do you need another 500 Rs anyway ?" It was not always that Shinde firmly put his foot down. He loved his teen daughter, his only child, but it was high time she learnt some discipline and value of money.
His daughter glowered at him with hatred of Dury for Bheema and Shinde felt a sharp pang of pain. He had heard fairy tales how daughter is more caring and tends to love father more than mother. He always dreamt of a trusted ally, a common front against fights with his wife and mother in law.
Alas!! Shinde as usual was not lucky. His daughter seemed to be chummy with her mother while Shinde, her own father was treated with disdain.
"A woman has her needs daddy. I can't discuss those with you." His daughter barked back. She wanted to buy a new lipstick that goes with her new sandals and cleverly avoided the mention.
Shinde had no clue how to tackle this reply. His little daughter was watching too much of CSI, HBO and talking too much
"woman" language.
Last time when he repeatedly nagged her to stop watching TV and study instead, she exploded at top of her lungs..
"I will not switch off TV. When woman says NO, it means NO daddy." Shinde ran out of the room quickly like a scared rabbit to hear rape victims dialog taken out of context. He avoided talking to her for next several days.
The relationship with his adolescent girl reached another low point when he failed to secure role of Uttara for her. His wife, enthusiast of Buy 1 get 1 free offer, had shown readiness to pose in as Sudeshna along with her daughter.
Shinde's daughter was secretly preparing for the role,relying upon her father's influence. She enrolled for Salasa and Rhumba dancing classes. She purchased new pair of Barbie and Ken to demonstrate her love for dolls and when she learnt that Uttara loved to collect upper male garments, she took few basic tailoring classes as well.
She tried to assure Shinde that she had all necessary experience to carry off romantic scenes with Abhimanyu with aplomb. Shinde while concerned, did not inquire about
"her necessary experience" fearing honest, blunt reply.
Alas!! All hell broke loose when Shinde could not fulfill his daughter's demand and she had declared open war against him.
"I am asking measly 500 Rs and not some goddamn role of a princess in some serial." Shinde's daughter thundered. She had inherited a barbed tongue from her mother.
Pitamaha Shinde was put to shame by baby Duryodhan. Feeling apologetic, he decided to take a gentler approach. He had recently directed the scene where Dury and Arjuna went to Maadhav for his support in War. It was still fresh in his mind.
He took out his wallet and placed it on the table ostentatiously and then stood in another corner and asked his daughter to choose between wallet and her loving daddy who will not give her any more allowance this month but will certainly shower countless, invaluable blessings.
Shinde noticed that his daughter did not even blink for a moment and leapt at the wallet happily and rushed out of the house to shop with her friends.
"We have given birth to a baby Duryodhana." Shinde, visibly shaken nodded his head in despair.
" I still remember..When she was born I heard a terrible honking of cars, screeching of tires and loud howling of dogs just outside the hospital. The hospital experienced momentary power outage and our baby's cry was so loud that other newly borns were too scared to even whimper. A powerful series of ill omens indeed similar to Duryodhana."
"Dont kid yourself. You are no Krishna. You were out of your mind to give her such obvious choice. She took not only all the money but your ATM card as well. She knows your pin number." Shinde's wife calmly went inside to cook lunch.
Dejected, Shinde went to take nap He got up in the evening and was surprised to find a big
Love U Daddy Archies card near him. His daughter hugged him, planted a quick kiss on his cheeks and scooted off.
Shinde saw his wallet lying nearby. All money was gone. ATM withdrawal slip confirmed that Shinde's daughter had acquired necessary banking skills. She had proved herself to be a worthy consumer for Indian Economy by spending way more than 500 Rs.
Strangely, Shinde did not care about money at that moment.
His Archie's card, purchased by his ATM money was lying nearby.
He held it close to his chest and stayed in the bed happily.
Who says Mastercard can not purchase priceless moments..
