my point of view about the hosting and the show

My point is I find the comedy last season when Manish and Kapil were hosting infantile. That is a harsh word I know, but Manish holding Madhuri's saree pallu by his teeth done every episode, Kapil's international stunt (sliding down the ramp whilst sitting on his shins down 2 or 3 times) making fun of Gujarati's and then making a mockery of the dancing competition which they were doing by laughing at the expense of the contestants, which are working so hard which is never appreciated, is what the show should be about, let the contestants shine not the hosts or judges. Always the UK and USA version its a man and woman hosting the show, dressed in evening clothes, really well and the evening is classy, like you are visiting a ballroom to see dance. I don't like the hosting of the Indian version because as I said I don't like how it's done.

When Drashti Dhami came in, I was hoping they were moving closer to the UK and USA versions. Where a man and woman host the show, and very little time wasting get into what happened with the contestants over the week, what they were struggling with in the routine, showing them in practice, then the performance remarks by the judges and the contestants goes behind in the green room with the other contestants and their scores are given to them and they ask for a vote for themselves from audiences at home, and move on to the next one. Also with Maksim coming in as well I did have this in my mind. But they've gone back to last years. I don't want to see that, for me it was always about the dancing of the contestants and not hosts or judges, in fact I hate all of them and I do mind what has happened to Drashti I know they made a lot of fun of her last year and this year also, and she gave a lot of revenue to the show last year too much that has not been appreciated by Jhalak and Colors. So they could have managed with her as a host, without having any farcical comedy just present the show as I have described and let the audience get attached to the contestants and observe them to get to know them, the judges and hosts not to be too prominent and change the show to be like the British and American versions.

The TRP has not been bad whilst Drashti Dhami has been hosting, it's panic by Colors because it's only CNWK and Jhalak giving this TRP and just a sniff or criticism and they minds are closed to anything different only comedy can work that's their mindset, so they've stepped in to ensure that for Jhalak and not for the audience to watch something else, but the TRP didn't dip with her, so their fear is unwarranted.

Let me be honest with you, Manish paul is the reason i started following JDJ in the first place, otherwise i used to just watch dance performances online, and that too not regularly
I love Manish's hosting and i'm loving the fact that he is coming back
If the show had tried bringing in the US and UK style hosting this time then i would have been okay with it, BUT their attempt to dress up DD and Shorey in Manish's package failed terribly
Its not DD or Shorey's fault that they couldnt host the way manish did and honestly they shouldnt have been made to do so at all!
But whatever it maybe, one thing is for sure, the show is never gonna give up this comedian cum hosting technique so if they are not ready to give it up then they better bring in people who could pull it off!

obviously hosts arent the only point of attention..bt a product wen launched in market is processed a lot on appearance...having sole focus on contestants nd competition will bore the audience..certainly that pallu chewing thing is hell irritating...bt hosting need to be eye catchy too...
about uk us style of hosting...i found the pair of jay nd soumya far better than dhrashti nd ranvir...
these two are amateur...nd jdj or any reality show is nt abt the journey from being an amateur to a great host

Can't agree with u more, the show is for the contestants not the judges or the hosted ans Manish is a experienced host he has hosted many live award shows a as well as many reality shows, we cannot compair him with Drashti because she is doing the job for the first time and moreover I'm sort of fed up with Manish cracking jokes on the contestants who r already under pressure and his following MD all the time😕
Even I thought this time it will be more concentrated on dancing rather than the other stuff, though I watch JDJ only for Drasthi but general audience wach a dance show not for some promotions of MD gun Gaan they se if for Dance so it could have been better it the contestant where given more space rather than hosts eating away all the time.😡

i love your post!
now that its ranvir n drashti hosting, ppl suddenly want kapil n manish back...
honestly i dont have any problem with manish...he is very spontaneous but last year i dont think anybody here enjoyed his madhuri worshipping n lame jokes.
noew suddenly kapil has become the best host ever...last year he was pathetic...his targetting gujaratis, stupid tactics n that pseudo english pissed the hell out of me n everyone else too.
why can't they get proper hosts who actually do their job without resorting to silly tactics? it makes the show even more ridiculous n farcical than it already is.
drashti would have done a decent job if she was asked to just host the show n not add all that rubbish drama...n now that manish is coming back, i really fervently hope he does not resort back to his madhuri puja n flirting with any n all females within a mile radius of him...that is not funny at all n neither is it appealing!
i would love to see them just guide the show without resorting to any more tomfoolery...I'm sorry, but i have to disagree with many ppl here who found last year's hosting remotely enjoyabler...it was not in the slightest...those wannabe english dialogues annoyed the hell out of me n so did the over-promotion of comedy nights with kapil. not to mention the drag queen dadi n god knows how many cross-dressed characters in that goddamned show!

I too dont like Manish n Kapil that much

But DD as a host was super duper flop n PATHETIC ... She was acting not hosting

Yah better hosts like Jai Bhanushali , Jennifer Winget would have made show a Classic one

But Dd is NOT sacked bcoz of online audience or the comedy element but because of her lame hosting and numerous retakes ( she already had been warned last week as per media but this week there wasnt much improvement i guess so they showed her the door)

Ragini Khanna, Mini Mathur and Soumya Tondon are those kind of hosts which you wanna see and they worked because THEY COULD HOST.

If Drashti couldn't speak a line properly without looking at the tellyprompter or took 1000 retakes, then why are you blaming the CONCEPT? They did try something new. But sadly, she only became a laughing stock for ppl at the end.

I agree with you that Manish and Kapil's jugalbandi/ supposed comedy was a DISASTER. It was more a combination of immature instances like Manish carrying Madhuri's pallu etc. I guess some people find it funny and like it. I guess there would be people in the world who like these sort of things. I don't though. I still don't find celebrities catering to Madhuri Dixit like she is out of this world. Treat a person like a person with respect not like a deity.

Secondly, comedy has become the theme of the show. I thought the theme of the show was 'DANCE'. Choreographers are showing contemporary over and over and nobody critiques them about this but if the hosts don't deliver there comic timings/ tickling the funny bones in more than half the show then the show is assumed to be ruined.

Comedy works something. Its nice to have the hosts crack you up sometimes with 'funny' content but not with maligning/ bullying contestants with stupid remarks.

Also, I don't think the format of the show could be like US version of Dancing With The Stars. Nobody tolerates this kind of nonsense over here of hosts doing ridiculous antics just to be funny. People don't find it funny they just find it to be stupid in the US. So I guess they have to tune the show according to how the masses in India would like it but I assert that hosting should be about introducing the contestants in a professional manner, giving them support/ good words of encouragement and then asking the judges for their scores instead of having fun at their expense.
