CHAPTER 25

Liza's Place

It was 2.30, I got a call from Sakshi about some drug dealing...

Phone call

"Hey Li.. sun aaj hum log kuch raid jaise karne jaa rahe hai... teri aane ke koi zaroorat nahi... bas kal jo tujhe denge tu uspe test kar le, fine.. gotto go.. warna Akdu Sadu Rawte meri jaan le legi!" Sakshi said in one breath

"Ok fine Sakshi... waise ussne bohot pehle hi teri jaan le li hai!" I exclaimed!

"Shut up Li... got back to your Majnu... khud pyaar main pad gayi hai toh aisa lag raha hai ke duniye ke sab log pyaar main par chuki hai! Gadhi... bye... take care! Jij's ko mere taraf se huggie!" Sakshi exclaimed and hung her phone

Phone call ends...

"Par Sakshi madam tune baat ko naa nahi ki!" I smirked... it was obvious she loved him!

"Pata nahi madam kuch kyun nahi kehti!"

"Jaise maine bohot accept kia tha!" I laughed...

Why was I awake till late night... "Kyunki Shree ki yaad aati hai..." I smiled and sat on the bed... my legs lazily waving in the air... thinking about the time when Shree semi-proposed me!

"Uffo... Jesus, u know ke jab Shree waise bangla main dialogue bol raha tha... I felt like Shahrukh Khan of Chennai Express.. jab Deepika uss Durga something Arakasundaram, her dad, se baat kar rahi thi aur bechara SRK mundi hila raha tha! I felt like that!" I laughed and rolled around the bed...

The clock chimed thrice... it was three... "main shree ko call karoon?" "nahi bechara ko sone do! Bas ek teen hafta.. aur meri Specky yaha!!!"

I recalled when I told Sakshi about Shree proposing me!

Flashback

One month back

I woke up finding myself sleeping with my phone still in my hand...

"Specky ne sach main propose kiya ya phir main waapas sapna dekh rahi hoon?" I was puzzled...

That's when I opened my skype to see the messages and turned red... again!

"Jeez... kya hoga mera!" I laughed

Quickly I went into the washroom and got ready...

I selected a white top with ocean blue jeans... put on a pair of beige wedges and applied simple kajal...put on a charm bracelet and two three more bangles, a necklace, straightened my hair and walked off smilingly... ya I wasn't always a goth chic... this was what I had worn when I first time met Shree...

When I reached the office I saw Chotu spitting out the coffee... Ayesha's eyes widening in happiness and giving me a knowing smile at my get up even Arjun sir saw me for like 20 seconds... but Sakshi seemed unfazed...

"Huh... shock toh main Sakshi ko dene waali thi!" I thought

And before I knew it Sakshi clicked a picture of mine and sent it to Shree...

I was like "Sakshi yeh..?"

And then she sang "Teri jhuki nazar.. teri harr ada.. mujhe keh rahi hai yeh daastan... koi shaks hai.. jo ki inn dino.. teri zehen o dil main hai chaagaya!"

She ended up laughing and almost falling from her seat when Arjun sir caught her arm

"Sambhaalo apne aap ko Miss. Sakshi Anand... aisa kya baat hai jo achanak se tum hasne lagi ho aur yeh gaana itni bhayank tarha se gaa rahi ho!" He asked in a straight forward face

" Woh woh Arjun you know na Liza.." Sakshi started off excitedly while I just looked in awe - how did she come to know!

"Case se related hai?" Arjun asked

"Arjun... subah subah kaunsi case ho sakti hai - aur waise confession aur pyaar case se kaise related ho sakte hai?" Sakshi asked naughtily

"Yeh kya bak bak kar rahi ho... confession aur yeh sab, kiska?" he asked - clearly annoyed at her antics while I just stood there watching the daily dose of Arakshi..

"Yeh jhagde karne ke liye paise milte hai kya?" I heard Chotu ask Ayesha and Ayesha chuckled (ya my dear friend - took this epic line from u)

"Liza ka! She's in love aur lagta hai ki Shree ne confess kar dia!" Sakshi slammed her hand in the table with a triumphant smile!

"Tujhe kaise pata!" I asked, my eyes wide in shock forgetting everyone else's presence in the room!

"Madam.. tu raat ke 3 baje tak Skype main online this... coincidentally... Shree bhi 3 baje tak jaaga hua tha on Skype.. do aur do milayi... phir aaj bade chamak challo ban rahi hai! Inn sab baaton main badi tez hoon, don't underestimate..." Sakshi jumped around...

"Meri journalism powers jo sirf logon ki gossip main rehti hai aur jo ETF main zero percent dikhayi deti hai." Arjun sir ended sarcastically...

(I got out of my apartment and walked around the terrace... thinking about what happened next... laughing like anything)

Ayesha smirked and then she got a call... before she could pick up Sakshi picked it up and kept it on speaker... for her it was time pass... but before Ayesha could prevent the upcoming disaster Sam the great spoke out...

"Hey Jaan.. kaisi ho tum...meri soniyo... ki gal hai? Kal raat poori neend chali gayi thi - aur baby u r the reason for it! Jaan I can't wait to get married to you... baby chalo ab mujhe good morning aur kissi do na!" Sam's voice echoed the conference room...

Chotu fell off his seat to land straight on the floor!

I dropped her handbag down - forgetting that the table was in front of me... hence the bag went straight on the floor... with the glass bottle shattering inside...

Sakshi's mouth was wide open ... she turned here and there and her gaze stuck on Arjun sir's...

His eyes were looking like they would pop out any moment... though he tried to control by clenching his jaw tight!

Ayesha's cheeks were red... she buried her face in her palms... to add to her woe..

"Baby... baat kyun nahi kar rahi ho... kal raat ke liye gussa ho na? Acha baba am sorry... ab aur damn it nahi bolunga! Pakka kasam honey... muaaah!" Sam's voice echoed again...

I don't think Chotu rose up from the floor... And with Ayesha's face I think she would divorce Sameer sir before they would marry...

Arjun sir tried to find a pen when he was about to put his finger in his steaming cup of cutting chai...

"Arjun sambhalke!" Sakshi alerted...

"Hein... yeh tumhari gala Sakshi ki jaisi kyun lag rahi hai... aur Arjun.. wait Ayesha... u here?" Sameer sir panicked...

"Haan.. Ayesha nahi balki hum sab yaha hai Sam bhai... yaani honey!" Sakshi said mischievously!

"DAMN IT! WTH..*^&^%...&^%$... Shoot, Ayesha tum pehle..." Sameer sir spoke and Ayesha immediately snatched her phone...

The last line was that "Sam... kya soch rahe the! Damn you! Aur tumne phirse damn it bola! Huh main baat nahi karne waali!..." She muttered on the phone and walked off...

A laughing Sakshi and shocked Chotu were enough for me to come back to senses...

"Waise Liz... congrats dear... finally is Shree ko kuch akal aaya!" Sakshi spoke...

Arjun sir just looked around and resumed into working mode...

"Aur haan.. yeh haath main choodiyaan.. isse bhi pata chalta hai ki tu pyaar main hai!" Sakshi winked

"Toh tum kya 24 X 7 pyaar main ho!" Arjun sir smirked from the other end.. "Jo yeh choodiyon ke dukaan leke ghoomti ho?"

Sakshi just stared at him for two minutes... "haan.. I am in love, finally... you know... woh bohot smart, intelligent, handsome aur dashing hai!" she said...

Arjun sir just knitted his brows "Woh smart ho sakta hai par intelligent nahi" he quipped

"Aisa kyun!" she said

"Agar hota toh tumko date nahi karta... waise haan you do suit the blonde girlfriend role..." he said sarcastically...

"Chup... main aaj uske saath date pe jaa rahi hoon... shaam ko 5 baje... u know!" she said proudly...

Arjun turned at her and looked irritated...

"Yeh Sakshi date pe ja rahi hai isme Arjun sir ko irritation kyun ho raha hai!" Chotu whispered to me...

"Ab yeh baat bhi samjhana padega Chotu..." I whispered back smiling... then I took my seat and enjoyed the Arakshi show - Pyaar Impossible!

Then suddenly Arjun sir gave a slight smirk... "Sakshi, tum jhoot bhi nahi bol sakti... tum aaj 5 baje uss ke saath ho hi nahi sakti!"

"Kyun?" she quizzed...

"Kyunki that time you will be with me..." he added looking straight into her eyes...

My coffee just stuck in my throat "Aye Liza.. dal main kuch kaala hai!" Chotu whispered...

"Nahi Chotu... yeh toh kaali dal hai!" I whispered back...

"..me..mer..mera matlab hume uss case ke liye pooch taach ke liye jaana hai, and you reminded me of that yesterday!" he showed as a matter of fact case...

However I noticed Sakshi's slight smile hovering over her lips... hmm aaj toh Shree ko bohot saare cheez hai bolne ke liye!

"Sir main Mehta waala case ka report laati hoon..." saying so I left the room...

I burst into peals of laughter the minute I entered the lab...

Present..

She looked at the time, "yikes! It's almost morning!" she thought...

"Chal Liza bete... raat ke 3.30 baj rahe hai... ab sone chal!" Liza giggled and returned to her flat after her usual dawn walk at the terrace...

She got a message but ignored it "Yeh credit card waale bhi na!" she walked into her house and locked the door and threw the key on the table.. as she went to her bedroom and flopped on the bed

Another message propped up...

"Uffo..." she muttered and saw the message...and she regretted for missing it...she turned deathly pale... her face stiffened... she lost her heart beat... her jaws clenched... for the first time terror gripped her heart...

"Be anywhere but in your house... else your hours are numbered... there are men to assassinate you..."

As she tried to get up the bed suddenly few men came into her view...

"Haha.. muhatarma aap kaha jaa rahi hai..." one of those men passed a lecherous look "Kya husn... kya adaa... aapki mauth se pehle... hume mukti dijiye..."

Before she could comprehend what's happening two of those men come and catch her hands tightly... while she protests...

Fear evident in those pretty eyes...

She tries to scream... but that man gags her mouth with a cloth...

Tears flow down seamlessly... she is helpless... no she would rather prefer death... cause what would be happening to her... death would be a welcome...

She tries one last time to get up when one of those guys slap her... then the man who spoke to her slowly opens his shirt buttons...

Her eyes are wide in terror as he throws his shirt away and menacingly climbs on the bed and tugs her dress and is about to rip it off...

And worse she felt a chloroform dipped kerchief stuffed on her face... the last thing she remembers is that man's fingers digging into her bare skin..

"No..." her eyes welled up as the man got closer... his hands moving around her... the last thing she thought before passing out and before fate played their cruel game...

The only man she had ever loved... The person for whom she had kept herself... The person with whom she had spun dreams of a blissful future... which would be destroyed forever...

Shree...

She choked as that man got hold of the zipper of her dress - and she was helpless...
