Arjun woke up at the crack of dawn to see a blanket draped around him... it reminded him of the day when Sakshi came to his cabin when he pretended to doze off and she had wrapped her scarf around him...
"Good morning Shera.." Karan yawned and passed him a cutting chai...
"Morning... mujhe cutting chai nahi chahiye..." Arjun muttered and looked at the files in front again...
"Sun... tu itna subah subah kaise jaag gaya?" Arjun looked curiously at Karan...
"Bas yaar aise hi..." Karan replied and sat next to Arjun...
"Karan... tu ne kabhi bataya nahi ki tere papa ka kya halat tha?" Arjun asked...
"Kash mujhe bhi pata hota Shera..." Karan sighed and his eyes started moistening...
"Matalb?" Arjun was confused...
"Papa was a very honest man... saare jurm ki khilaaf awaaz uthate the... aur ek din ghar pe laash aa gaya... na koi khabar... na koi suraag... saala ab tak pata hi nahi chala ki mara kaise... aur jab ek hi clue mila... toh woh aadmi ne zeher khaake apna jaan le liya... bas uske baad at dead end..." Karan closed his eyes...
Arjun looked at Karan with wide eyes... he could feel the helplessness... at least he knew how Roshni passed away... God knows how he smiles without even knowing how his father passed away - rather how he was killed...
Then one thing hit his mind like a bullet... "Koi suraag nahi... woh aadmi ne zeher kha liya..." Arjun was very familiar with this working method...
"Karan... kya tere papa ne kabhi drugs aur in sab ke khilaaf awaaz uthayi..." Arjun asked...
"Haan... in fact papa ne police ke haatho ek do gangs ko bhi pakadwaaya tha - par tujhe kaise pata?" Karan looked at him perplexed...
"Sh*t" Arjun cursed... "Kyunki Karan I think mujhe pata hai ki who was responsible..." he mumbled...
"Kaun?" Karan asked.. standing up from the chair...
"Sikandar..." Arjun answered...
"Kya? Yeh hai kaun... aur tujhe kaise pata ki yeh hi hai... koi suraag ya kuch nahi dekh kar..." Karan muttered..
"Karan... aksar clues ko mitaane ke chakker main har criminal koi na koi suraag chod ke jaata hai..." Arjun muttered...
"Yaar Shera.. main koi Sikandar nahi hoon... mujhe toh saaf saaf bata... suraag.. kaisa suraag... uss *%@^* jab mere haaton main aayega tab dekhna!" Karan angrily cursed...
"You are right... yeh Sikandar ne koi suraag nahi choda... but ek pattern chod chuka hai..." Arjun muttered...
"Matlab?" Karan asked sitting on the chair...
"As in he always kills his target then he makes sure ki koi suraag na chode... phir ek informer toh hamesha hota hai jisko hum pakad sakte hai - aur woh suicide kar leta hai..." Arjun sighed...
Karan just gaped at him... "Waise Karan.. tu theek thak tha ya..." Arjun asked...
"Haan... main toh bhaag gaya tha ghar se... woh mera college ka fest tha... papa ko bhi pata nahi tha... aur..aur jab main ghar..." Karan tried to control his tears...
"Waise Shera... tera kya story tha - kyunki aisa lagta hai ki tu bhi iss Sikandar ko jaanta hai..." Karan asked... (assuming that Arjun didn't tell anything to Karan)
Arjun sighed and looked up... "Haan... hai toh zaroor... main ek ladki se bohot mohabbat karta tha... fair... beautiful... she had eyes like a gazelle... curly brown hair... meri zindagi ke Roshni... my Roshni... main toh usse dekhte hi pyaar main pad gaya... aur woh bhi... humne shadi kar li thi..." Arjun smiled recalling the beautiful face in front of him...
"Phir Sam aur main... hum dono... especially main narcotics ke peeche pada tha... during our senior's tenure... ACP Samrat Anand... toh often main madat karta tha... aksar mera aur DIG ka bhi baat hote the... phir maine personally iss investigation ki price dena pada... in the form of my Roshni... 6 baar stabbed in front of me... and I was knocked out unconscious..." Arjun shook his head in trying to fight off his nightmare's images flashing in front of his eyes...
"Toh phir Sakshi kaun hai..." Karan muttered silently to himself... but it could escape the cop's ears...
Arjun felt a prick in his heart... that he had moved on so fast... he still didn't avenge the death of Roshni... how could he have started loving another person...
"You do love her... phirse apne dimaage main guilt kyun thoos raha hai..." his heart said...
"Aur Roshni ka kya?" His mind said...
"For God's sake Sakshi died - loving you... and you knew that... at least uska pyaar ka itna izzat do de... agar kuch mehsoos nahi hua toh phir uss din paagalo ki tarha ro kyun raha tha? his heart battled...
Arjun became exhausted...
Karan noticed the flash of emotions on Arjun's face and realized that maybe Sakshi was another girl that he too fell in love with... and maybe destiny stole her once again...
"Par.. uske chehre pe guilt... yeh... Arjun.. shayad pyaar ko mehsoos karna aur pyaar ko accept karne main farak hain..." Karan sighed and shook Arjun out of his inner battle...
"Arjun sir?" A girl's voice cracked, in her early 20's came wearing a loose top and jeans... her face was devoid of make-up... it told that she knew everything...
Arjun's eyes flooded up with happiness... "Liza!" he said disbelievingly... but overjoyed to have found a member alive...
She literally ran up to him and started crying...
Clutching his hand and shaking violently... she hiccuped in a failed attempt of trying to control her tears..
Arjun was numb in seeing her alive... he hugged her instantly... "Liza... tum zinda..." he voiced out...
Karan silently had disappeared to bring two glasses of water... he needn't had to be told that many tears and revelations were at the bay...
She gulped down the glass of water... still shivering over the demise of her dearest friends...
After what seemed like hours Arjun asked her... "Toh hua kya tha?"
Liza told him everything - from scratch...
From her walking in the terrace till she could barely figure out an entry of someone... to be woken up finding her wounds dressed... every single day she would find a fresh pair of clothes and food... through letters they would communicate with her... they told her about everything... from the blast till Arjun's nearest friends now... and they had warned her not to call Shree...
Arjun's blood boiled at the attempted molestation on Liza...but the happiness on seeing her alive was at no bounds... as he had said... the entire ETF was like his family... but then his mind clicked on something she said...
"Liza... tumhe kaise pata ki woh ek insaan nahi... balki do the?" Arjun asked...
"I know... even though they used to sign off as KV... sometimes two letters would have a totally different style of speaking... type face same tha - printed letter tha... par phir bhi... ek letter main ek insaan dikhta tha... aur doosre main koi aur... so I guessed ki do insaan the... par main ghalat bhi ho sakti hoon..." She informed...
"Liza... I am truly glad to have found you alive... sach main..." Arjun gave his rare smile...
Liza smiled back...
"Waise Liza... mujhe tumhari madat chahiye tha... yaha forensic reports hai - I wanted your views on that..." Arjun informed...
"Sure" Liza said and read the file... trying very hard to not let her tears blur her vision...
Arjun dusted his jacket and went to the other side... seeing her alive gave him a fresh hope... but now he felt a wave of guilt as well... oh... why was he so complicated?
"Sir! Reports main kuch gadbad hai!" Liza said...
