In the early days of the show they used to show long conversations between Pankhuri and her Dadaji and he used to teach her a lot of things and how to be sensitive to others. Here we don't see any such influence or interaction between the mother and the daughters. Moreover we all remember how close Pankhuri was to her cousin and vice-versa. Here despite being real sisters all three girls are spying on each other and finding ways to hurt and harm each other.

All this only shows that the Nilofer has failed as a mother, but it would be the same when we look at the other side of the coin too.

Even Sheila's children never respected any of the elders. Kaira even had a man living in with her in front of her parents. Even Rubel had a live-in relationship with Latika before marriage. Rubel was extremely negative and mercenary. We blamed it all on Sheila's upbringing. Didn't we?

Just because now the characters have Muslim names doesn't mean that there's religious bias.

And let's not forget that if Nafisa is piling on to Rubel, on the other hand there's Ayesha who doesn't allow Adi to even hold her hand or flirt with her. She goes to the Dargah to get Taaviz for him and gives a Shukraane ki Namaaz when the doctors declare him to out of danger.

Despite being a part of the Fashion Industry Arif asks his mother to get him married to the girl who hugged him (unintentionally from her side, but for him it was a big deal). That to me is a very sweet development.

We have to look at the overall picture here, methinks.

Rubel and Kaira were pretty permanent members of this show and their redemption, the reasons behind why they were that way got portrayed and most viewers forgave them. These new characters like Arif, Nilofar, Nafisa, and Rukhsar won't be around so long and likely the reasons why they misbehave won't be properly explained. I'm not sure why they were shown to be Muslim at all. This could have been a Hindu or Christian family from a conservative background that covers up.

In my opinion, if this show took it up to portray a different religion/culture then they should have done justice to it and they have not. As a Muslim I feel very upset when I see the stereotypical "Bollywood" portrayal of Muslims such as the one being shown in PKDH.

I'm a muslim living in the UK and to be honest I don't find anything negative in the show. It may be because I'm not Indian so I don't know the internal politics.
But what I see in the show is characters you find anywhere in the world regardless of their religion and I think that is what the CVs are trying to show. I have not found anything negative about Islam at all and the moment I do I will stop watching it.

As for the hijab, here in the UK we get mixtures, some totally cover up, others wear a headscarf and some don't. So again I see what is shown in the show as being just another aspect of the religion in a big city. I do find the sisters dressed modestly and that is realistic thought some muslim do wear scanty clothes.

So take it from me, this is just a portrayal of real life people - Sisters do fight, squabble, hurt and spy on another - nothing at all to do with their religion. People are good and bad, talk quietly or loudly given their genetics.

I say just enjoy the show, its not meant to be taken seriously.

To some extent I agree with the post.

The family is shown as cheap. trapping men, enjoying the comforts and not willing to leave on one pretext or another.

They could have shown ayesha as hindu girl only with a loud attitude and some smart changes.

No need to bring a muslim family and show them as opportunists.
