We all know how much hype there was even before the release of KANK and how much everyone was expecting from the film, from Karan, the star cast.

So let's discuss how your expectations were met/or were not met.
What about the music of the film?
Actors, characters, singers, designer clothes and everything related to the film.

A Very Neccessary Topic👏👏
Before the movie released, I was so hyped about the movie. Why shouldn't I be?? A star cast consisiting of Shahrukh, Preity, Abhi, Rani, and Big B, designer clothes by Manish Malhotra, Karan Johar movie, setting in New York, Shankar Ehsaan Loy music, and amazing promos....I really liked the movie. But India is not ready for movies like this. The movie was called unreal😕 It portrays what really happens in real life. People do commit adultery with other married people. It is nothing unusual. Most of these people also had children with their original spouses too. Before peopel used to bug Karan about making too many happy family dramaz, now that he does something different he is still critisized 😕
That is just my point of view 😳

it could have been better, it want realistix enough, karan tried to have it both ways, his usaly style movie AND something different. plus he should have had it take place in india.

I'm with Shailee kinda😛 I too had a lot of high expectations for KANK. And who wouldn't with an AMAZING starcast and a great director/producer like Karan Johar...were we too expect any less?? And I loved the comedy in the first half of the movie .. and I think I kinda liked it when I first saw it .. and then it hit me after a while .. I HATED IT ... it was such a bad movie.. . it could've been told better..A lot of the things were left uncleared ... yes adultry happens people cheat and so on but KANK was just weird nothing was properly explained. The story could've been told in a better way .. Karan could've cleared a bit of the confusion .. Karan isn't the first to make a film on extra-martial affairs but i dunno this movie was just bad

i wasnt really xited abt d movie, coz i knew dat it waz nt goin 2 hav kajol... and i did hear at the story line b4... I watched it jst 2 c kajol in dat song... wr she appeared 4 30 seconds... hehe...

I didnt like the movie even a bit... the beginning waz bearale... but the second half waz god! i hated evry bit of the second part...

The music is awesome! esp the title track and tumhin dekho na... actually i liked all the songs frm the movie... SLE did do a gud job...

exactly.. evn a movie like silsila had a similar concept... but this one completely unacceptable... he cud definitely hav put it in a different way and it wud hav been accepted better by majority of the people who watched it...

the story was brilliant. i love the story. but it wasn't well executed. such a story needs more sensitivity and more care. but karan had his usual loud, over the top stuff along with silly stupid sex jokes!!

many ppl complained abt rani's character that how could she not love abhishek's character!! he was perfect and blah blah. i think karan failed to convey why maya couldn't fall for abhishek's character...he wasn't her type...he just wasn't!! there was compatibility issues...not that srk was a better choice (actually he is quite a sad character) but i can see why rani couldn't love abhishek...i think she herself was quite a sad character...so two sad characters found each other!! isn;t that great??!!

i thought both the couples were a mis match..preity was over confident, suave and out there...so was abhishek...while both srk and rani were introverts and not street smart...they were simple ppl!! their view of life was too different...and karan failed to portray these fundamental problems...instead he focused on the physical relationship of rani/abhi, the ego problems of preity/srk...those were problems of course but those were not the real problems!! these were by products of their incompatibilty as couples....that's how i saw the movie.

I think the movie was a flop..It did not capture my attention at all; it was just BORING. 😡
I still cannot figure out how Maya could not find a way to sort out her differences with Abhi..It is so unreal..I mean, why on earth would you want to wreck ur mariage for such simple issues.. abhi treats her so wonderfully..That's why people did not like the film.. The message of the film seemed to be that it's okay to wreck ur mariage when u feel like it..And there's also no point in trying to get back together and work out the differences..And yes, there will be a happy ending for you also..you will marry your lover, and your husband/wife also will find somebody else.. That is simply ridiculous; just encouraging adultery to happen and for people to think it's okay to do it, coz they will be happier that way. Even hollywood shows better morality than KANK

I was to leave India two days after KANK released. I had to pack, meet people and there was so much chaos, yet I dragged my parents and my brother to watch this movie on the furst day, for Rs.200 a ticket 😲 which clearly says that I had huge expectations from this film.

But no, it didnot meet my expectations in anyway. The story line was too loose, nothing was explained properly. The big question was what problem Maya had with Rishi. Yes, they were differetn etc etc, but which marriage survives without compromises? So, Rani-Abhi relationship was very poorly portrayed.

People say that these things happen in society but Indian audiences are not ready for that bla bla. I do agree that extra-marital affairs are prevalent in India now, but that does not make it right. Indian audience is so crazy about Bollywood that they perceive everything shown in the movie to be worth emulating. K3G conveyed a good message about loving parents. Maybe a little unrealistic, but it gave people good morals to take home. But by making a movie like KANK, he definitely made Indian audiences think that there was nothing wrong in having an affair after marriage which is not true.

Music, costumes, sets were truly KJO style, great! But the story, though real, wasn;t appropriate.
