Amazing double updates. I so love this Khushi. Though never expected Arnav to be a softy. Well I guess anyone will react that way to see someone getting shot infront of there eyes. There is a lot he needs to learn about Khushi. If she is so cold it's has a reason. The bond NK Abhay and Khushi share is amazing. I guess they all went through a lot in the past together. I am so eager to know Khushi past.

Part-14(B)

Khushi looked out of the ceiling to floor window of the penthouse. The dawn was breaking. She sighed.

She looked back at the figure sleeping before her eyes on the bed and another sigh escaped from her.

Her head fell back on the backrest of the couch on which she was sitting.

Mother I got blood in my dress. I don't know from where. I am not hurt in any place. Only I feel funny in my stomach.

Oh Lin, You have grown my child. You have become a woman now. Congratulations darling.

Khushi opened her eyes. A tear rolled down her left eye only to vanish in her hairs. She gulped and turned her eyeballs to the sleeping form again. Her eyes changed from gloom to gleam.

Capturing the peaceful visage of the sleeping man in her eyes she again tried to catch a wink.

But soon as she closed them, flashed two pair of accusing eyes behind her eyelids.

You weren't worth still we accepted you because of him and you let him die. It is not them but you killed him. How could you do this to him? How could you leave him unprotected? Did you ever love him?

Her eyes shot open.

If anyone saw her now they would find the fierce officer Gupta shaking like a leaf caught in a storm. Her eyes were clouded with unshed tears. She was at her vulnerable best.

She sprang up from her relax posture and left the seat to go and stand by the window. The sun was up and warm. She stared out and saw the city awakening.

Time to wake up bitch!' She chuckled mirthlessly, Time to wake him up.' Her words held meaning more than it appeared.

Arnav woke up feeling a little queasy. When he tried to sit up his left arm felt heavy and a sharp pain shot through it making him wince. Just then two slender yet strong arms came around his both shoulders to help him up.

He smiled to himself before looking up, but then he frowned.

She looked just the way she was looking last night, all tidy and composed, but her red tired eyes gave away the front she was trying to put on.

"You didn't sleep." It was a clear statement from him.

She looked straight in his eyes while helping him to rest his back on the pillows she had arranged behind him.

"I had to clear the mess that occurred last night because of your one stupid move."

Arnav didn't backfired knowing well that he was at fault, so he did what he meant to do last night also, apologize, "I am sorry."

Khushi saw the sincerity in his eyes.

She turned and went to the cupboard to take out a spare pair of his clothe, she knew would be stacked in there.

While taking them out she spoke, "You are forgiven, because you may have put yourself in danger with others, but now we have two of their men to shed some light in the case."

She turned closing the cupboard and locking her eyes with him she said, "Though I would appreciate if you don't repeat yourself."

Arnav nodded grimly.

She started walking to him as she continued, "Because if you think they were here to kidnap you for ransom then for your knowledge they had no plan for asking for ransom..." she didn't complete because his wide eyes were indication enough that he understood the unsaid information.

Khushi helped him to put on a fresh pair of shirt as last night the doctor had cut open his shirt to dress his wound and anyways it was completely drenched in blood.

She also helped him to wear the sling to keep his hand from any kind of movement as per suggested by the doctor.

All this time when Khushi concentrated on the work in hands careful to not hurt him further, Arnav only could stare her. Pain, seemed to an alien word.

She cares for me. She does care for me! Then why you feign indifference always? I have to find out. I need to find out. All he thought.

Khushi was aware of his unwavering gaze on her, though she pretended to not notice.

I care for you. I do care for you! Because you are good soul, carrying a vibrant heart inside. Your world has color and brightness. Don't try to step in mine, where it is dark in the morning too. The only color rules my world is red, color of blood.

Khushi stepped back as soon she buttoned the last button of his shirt.

"Come" she helped him out of bed.

She held him firmly knowing well that the drugs had kept him out for long and it would take him some time to get his footing back properly.

As predicted he staggered a little after taking two steps but her strong hold kept him in position. He smiled brightly to her, making her lips stretch in a small encouraging smile.

While walking in sync towards the washroom a though struck Arnav, making him halt in his track and he looked to his side and found her asking what happened' concernedly through her eyes.

"What happened after I was out? Did the guests in hotel know about the firing? And home? Do they know?" his face was etched with worry.

Khushi shook her head in negative and said soothingly, "the guests don't know. It happened behind the pub in the employee parking, which is far from the main hotel and rest has been taken care off. We have closed the area in pretext of renovation work."

"And in your family nobody knows till now. We didn't get time for that and then it was too late to call and scare them. They might still not know that you aren't sleeping in your bed in Shantivan. So get freshen up I will drop you home before I head to office."

By the time Khushi had made him walk till the bathroom door. Arnav held the door frame as he turned his head to her direction and said concernedly, "but you didn't sleep last night, you need to rest."

A genuine smile appeared on her face as she replied, "Don't worry I will be fine. I have practice. Now go." she pushed him softly.

Arnav went inside reluctantly and heard her say when he was about to latch the door "Don't latch the door and call me if you need help"

The smile that graced his face was priceless.

But the smile from Khsuhi's face disappeared as soon the door closed behind her.

I don't remember when I last slept properly. Rest and peaceful sleep look like far-fetched concepts to me Arnav'... she whispered inaudibly.
