On this, one could give her a pass that she was taken aback by events.

But when Arjun got angry @ Karna, had she scolded him and ordered him to be respectful, and then publicly apologized to Karna and asked him to meet her in private, things could have been controlled. Duryodhan only gave Karna Anga so that the latter would have the right to battle Arjun

but then too one could give her pass that she wanted to save honour of pandavas coz if its revealed that she had son b4 marriage then kaurava could say pandav son of characterless woman
like this we wont find kunti guilty ever so m not ready to give her any pass

We can keep discussing because of our sympathy/affection towards Karn, it's divine destiny. Though I hate it to put it that way.
As someone suggested, Kunti could have made Karn grow in some hermitage/ashram, probably Durvasha 😉 Himself.

Surya dev could have guided Kunti as well. This where Indr time and again has proved to be a good caring father.

There were umpteen situations, even after Pandu's demise where she could have revealed Karn's birth. So, Kunti and Surya dev both at fault if you remove the divine destiny angle. Just my personal opinion, no offense ...

I agree with you. Kunti could have kept an eye on him and accepted him at some point in her life. And definitely after the other pandavas had grown up already and Karna was desperate to get some kshatriya vidya, she could have helped him.
But she didn't even know that karna was her son until Shri Krishna told her.
Using the mantra, Kunti had Karna apparently in a few minutes and maybe she had no feelings of a mother for him at the time. But just from a humane POV, she could have kept an eye on him and then told the other Pandavas about him when Arjun was insulting him at the first competition in Hastinapur.
(I don't know what it was called, the one where Duri made him Angaraj to elevate his status).

I feel Kunti just felt a bit sorry that she had used the mantra inappropriately but didn't have to think about her lost son much after that.

Whereas Karna was tormented about his identity throughout his life. He was insulted only because his caste was apparently lower. Arjun was always so rude to him.

Kunti was an adopted princess. Second she was brought up in a very conservative society, third she was not married when Karna was born. So yes, she could not reveal to the world because she was afraid. After she was married to Pandu she became a queen, it may sound crass, but a queen's first duty is to her subjects and not herself. If the world was to know she mothered a child before wedlock, then it would have brought her a very horrid name among the society. And next, the pandavas were born with their 'father's' full consent. Even though they were divine kids, they were still known has Pandu putras, the Pandavas. Aren't Dhritrashtra and Pandu themselves known as sons of Vichitravirya, when actually their biological father was Vyas?

Kunti did have many options but she had to remain quite so that her sons, the pandavas didn't get banished along with her. (That could have been one reason). And I think it's really easy to say she was a horrible mother to Karna, I agree and I've mentioned this before that I'm not supporting her 'mistake'. She was wrong as a mother to Karna. But one can't say she didn't suffer in silence for the injustice she brought to her oldest child. Understanding what Kunti did and supporting it is not easy, especially if you're a huge Karna fan. But I strongly believe that she remained quite because it was not her place to reveal the truth to her son.

And I'll add this too, Karna didn't have a bad upbringing, his foster parents taught him well. The path he chose, that to support Duryodhan, was his own choice. I'm not saying he chose wrong, if we look at it from Karna's perspective, he was just honoring Duryodhan for respecting him and his strength.

BRAVO... kudos 👏 to you for aptly putting kunti's plight... just one more point to add.. even if kunti would have revealed the truth.. dont you think the sufferings of karna would have just increased... he wouldn't be known as sutaputra.. but an illegimate child... the respect he craved for... he wouldn't have received in any way... whether we agree or not...
