we all know what happened with karna was not right
i understand what and why kunti did all that, the problem is not about her carelessness to use that mantra its ok people at such a young age are so impatient that they want to explore something exciting or want to know some things out of curiosity but even after karna's birth she had a few options which could save karna from all the insults and a life which had no mental peace(because of being with duryodhan)
1)she could tell her family members the whole situation tactfully like first about purity of mantra and then about karna's birth
2)she could ask her daasis to find out whether there was any childless couple in her kingdom and then could give them their son and could also keep an eye on their upbringing for karna
3)she could tell whole kingdom be it her kingdom or hastinapur like to bheeshma that it was durvasa rishi's mantra and also she used the mantra n karna came in her life in one day which is so not making her impure as she was not pregnant (according to tv series n not books ) durvasa rishi had always been famous so no one could even dare to doubt about this situation
4)she could call for durvasa rishi by sending her guptchars so that he could tell the society about her purity
5)she could tell pandu in forest when madri was not around (before pandava's birth)
6)and the really suitable one-after pandu's death already everybody knew that all her kids are dev prasad and not of any physical relation(according to tv n not books) she could easily tell bheeshma to send a guptchar in secret and let him know about karna's whereabouts
7)she could tell pandavas in their childhood after pandu's death about karna i mean the brothers who could share a wife just because their mother ordered (unknowingly) they could accept karna or atleast could find him out someday for fulfilling their mata's aadesh
this is what i feel its ok if someone doesn't agree but really putting a child in river was so not ideal as well as not logical as she was a princess she had many options her case was not like an ordinary lady who was in praja with whom one could use inappropriate technique(which would also be wrong)
so whatsay guys?
please do reply what you feel for this post i would love to read
and ya no bashes please!😊

you are right in many points.. The births were pure or not, the society did accept Pandavas so why not Karna? and also she did know that Karna was being brought up as a Suta and never bothered about that..

Kunti was an adopted princess. Second she was brought up in a very conservative society, third she was not married when Karna was born. So yes, she could not reveal to the world because she was afraid. After she was married to Pandu she became a queen, it may sound crass, but a queen's first duty is to her subjects and not herself. If the world was to know she mothered a child before wedlock, then it would have brought her a very horrid name among the society. And next, the pandavas were born with their 'father's' full consent. Even though they were divine kids, they were still known has Pandu putras, the Pandavas. Aren't Dhritrashtra and Pandu themselves known as sons of Vichitravirya, when actually their biological father was Vyas?
Kunti did have many options but she had to remain quite so that her sons, the pandavas didn't get banished along with her. (That could have been one reason). And I think it's really easy to say she was a horrible mother to Karna, I agree and I've mentioned this before that I'm not supporting her 'mistake'. She was wrong as a mother to Karna. But one can't say she didn't suffer in silence for the injustice she brought to her oldest child. Understanding what Kunti did and supporting it is not easy, especially if you're a huge Karna fan. But I strongly believe that she remained quite because it was not her place to reveal the truth to her son.

And I'll add this too, Karna didn't have a bad upbringing, his foster parents taught him well. The path he chose, that to support Duryodhan, was his own choice. I'm not saying he chose wrong, if we look at it from Karna's perspective, he was just honoring Duryodhan for respecting him and his strength.

I completely agree with your thoughts Kunti had many options in front, but she chose to remain silent due to her conservative family notions... And also all the Pandavas were born due to mantras and not of any physical relationship as Pandu has curse upon him, which also mentioned in Ved Vyas Mahabharata too.
Kunti could have left the child in the company of a Rishi's were Karna could have been nurtured properly and this situation would not have arisen.

No offence to anyone, but I am just feeling bad for Karna.. such a warrior yet with such a pain to bear

in ancient india even children born from an unmarried woman also are rightful heir of her husband this is written in smritis so there was no logic of kunti not revealing truth to pandu n letting him adopt karna

Kunti and Karan both made a choice. She made the decision to give up her son and karna made a choice to side with Duryodhan. I feel as if Karna is the true epitome of sacrifice in Mahabharat. He never got accepted by anyone and always struggled with identity. I fail to understand what kunti was expecting from karna when she went to him? Did she really think that Karna was going to leave his friendship and accept his mother and his siblings who never gave him the respect and status he deserved. Was he going to forget the humiliation done by draupadi? kunti should have told her other sons may be it would have made a difference in outcome of the war.

I agree w/ the TM and have said this several times in the past - Kunti had ample private opportunities to reveal to both Karna AND Yudisthir their relationship long b4 Karna did things that irreparably damaged his relationship w/ the Pandavas.

in rangbhumi before karna takes anga kingdom from dury kingdom she very well could ask her sons to give a pause in competition momentarily and could beg dhrit to give order for the same then she could take karna and her sons to a private place and reveal all
becoz that time only karna n arjun had heated arguement they dint pledged to kill each other n bheem too could b scolded by kunti for insulting karna
