A guess ...

I have a guess, but it might be wrong like some of my previous guesses, or right like some fewer of my previous guesses!

The landlord is eyeing up Kumud in a not-nice way. And the flat has been vacant for 5 years.

Here is my guess:

The landlord is a widower and has lost a child as well. I just get a feeling there was a child.

The apartment is haunted by the previous residents - the owner's dead wife and daughter.

The idyllic flat may prove the saying, 'Be careful what you wish for in case you get it...' Samud discover the perfect flat has other ghostly residents, and their detective-giri may again be called for to discover how the resident/s died.

What say you?

I agree with you Aniq, that there is kuch gadbad with this landlord

Well, there is something brooding and sad about that landlord and he is a fishy guy

Kuch to gadbad hone wali hai

And I don't want them to stay in his house for the night

The landlord does have a backstory and has an ulterior motive in giving them the flat
