Ranveer: Men send me embarrassing messages

He's had a long day. But neither has his energy dipped nor has the smile on his face lost its fizz. In fact, every time he scrolls down his mobile to read messages, he grins... blushes and even chuckles. When asked the reason for the wicked smirk, he shoots, "Oh they're all pure non-veg jokes!" Ranveer Singh's life seems to be on a roll. It's been a great period with hits like Goliyon Ki Raasleela and Gunday as also the good reviews lapped up by Lootera last year. His comfortable togetherness with good friend' Deepika Padukone adds to this happy picture. Truly, Ranveer Singh seems to be in an enviable space. What's more Shaad Ali's Kill Dil and Zoya Akhtar's Dil Dhadakne Do promise to celebrate the performer further. Not to forget his going all out to endorse the condom brand Durex, something which makes him a first of sorts. "Alhamdulillah! Recently, you appeared in a condom ad for Durex. Did you have any apprehensions?
Why should one have any apprehension? Maybe, because we are still conservative in thought. In our country, sex is still a taboo subject. It's high time we discuss it in a healthy manner. People should be made aware of diseases like STD and HIV and issues like unwanted pregnancy etc. Sex education is inadequate here. Promoting condoms is necessary. When I was given this chance to fulfill a social responsibility, I agreed. I'm comfortable with my sexuality. If you have a connection with the youth, if you can use your celebrity status or stardom to bring awareness, why not?

You seem comfortable flaunting your body too...
(Laughs) In Zoya's Dil Dhadakne Do, I'll be seen in swimwear. After all, I've worked hard on my body.

How come you are always so energetic?
I've always been this way. Maybe that's how God has made me. I drink a lot of coffee too. So, my energy shoots up further. Once I'm up, that's by noon, I'm brimming with energy. But before noon, I'm grumpy, "Leave me alone, let me rest." But soon I get in form. I become super active. I like making people laugh, keeping the atmosphere light and fun. I can't remain serious for long. Alhamdulillah!

Were you a hyper kid?
Yes, I was. My parents would be fed up of my energy.

Do you ever feel low?
I do feel low sometimes. But you have to get out of it. That feeling may stay with you for three hours, three days or maybe even three years. But it all gets fine with time.

Arjun Kapoor says you're his best friend. You agree?
Arjun's an amazing person. Ever since we've become friends, there is hardly a day when we don't message each other. We are constantly in touch. We have fun through messages; we pull each other's leg, share non-veg jokes and gossip. I don't get much chance to spend time with him though. He's become busier than me after Gunday. Also, he never shows what he could be going through in his personal life. No one will ever know that he's sad. But I can sense that. Now that you've mentioned him, I want to rush and be with him.

How do you find him as an actor?
He's a good actor. His work in Gunday was praised. He's reached a good position today. I've seen him work hard. He's sincere. I've also done a cameo in his film Finding Fanny. I've seen some of the rushes and I'm proud of him. I even liked 2 States. Now, he's doing Tewar, which is a special film. I pray for his success with all my heart.

Has people's perception of you changed after the success of Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela?
It has and I am aware of it. But I don't take it seriously. I have two fathers: one is my Papa and the other is Aditya Chopra. From them I've learnt that you shouldn't take people seriously, whether they praise you or trash you. You should focus on your work. Your approach to your work should be absolutely pure.

What's your parents' take on your success?
They are happy and this happiness has come after a long time. They are among those parents who spend their entire lives making their kids happy. Papa was the lone earning member. My mother had discarded her career so that she could devote time to us. We, as a family, went through ups and down. Today I've only one agenda in my life: to keep my parents happy. They are proud of me. For the past few years they have been able to enjoy a good life, which they couldn't earlier because of us.

How do you see Deepika Padukone as an actor?
I believe that she is among the best actresses in the film industry. She has the potential of being an all-time legend. She has held a steady graph. She did well in Cocktail, better in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, still better in Chennai Express and even better in Ram-Leela. Look at me. Is there any consistency? I was lost at one point. Sometimes I do well and sometimes not. She'll be a game-changer one day.

What's that one thing about Deepika that makes her different from others?
She has a lot of kindness in her. She's a genuine person. She's gifted, in that she can judge people well. Her sixth sense is strong. She's a strong person too.

You must be having crazy fan experiences...
Yes, some girls are crazy about me. They go mad. Men have also stalked me. I get embarrassing messages on Twitter. Though I don't feel uncomfortable easily, I don't like such messages.
