My favorite movie… you wrote about it so beautifully. PK touches the heart and shows us a mirror—whether people learn from it is a different story. Yesterday, I was reading some verses from the Gita which say, “A true yogi sees Me in all beings and all beings in Me; they see the same Self everywhere.” Sometimes I wonder if people truly understand what Krishna was trying to teach us… if they did, perhaps all these wars and killings, running behind money , dis respecting others would not happen.

I didn’t like it though I barely watched it. It was too in the face, there was no subtlety.

It is better than sanju and dunki but overall still pretty average. Hirani peaked with 3 idiots then went on a downhill trend after. Maybe they are still alright watch but if I had to put his movies in order then: 3 idiots, Mbbs, Lage Raho then huge gap and PK, even bigger gap then Sanju and Dunki. Also, his movie making style has become somewhat outdated.

One of my favorites. More than the film, it was the message. The mass hysteria that Organized religion is and the superstitions that have engulfed the Sub-continent. The way it's used by People in power to manipulate and control the masses.

Some people felt it was Anti-Hindu but it was really against all religions. The Alien couldn't get his wishes fulfilled through any form of worship. The "God Man" was surely Hindu, but the pre-climax was related to Islamic Terrorism. The train blast making the Alien wonder why "The dude in charge of this Gola" was killing his own people.

It did all this while keeping the film entertaining and light in true Hirani style. A breezy Sunday afternoon watch.

The film is funny enough and the performances are sincere, so you can enjoy it as a one-time watch. But Hirani took his formula to its logical conclusion. Hisnaive-ish outsider who doesn't view the world through the same lens as the rest of us became a straight-up alien. And I think that in doing so, it made the whole thing incredibly silly. Because all this non-committal commentary about God's existence doesn't work in a universe where aliens exist.

But the larger problem is that the film doesn't actually dare to say anything novel. Organized religion and Godmen = bad was done by OMG like a year or two before this, and even there, it was hardly original. I think the film kind of flirts with the point about God's existence, but completely backtracks in the final act.

And the Sushant plot is downright horrendously manipulative. What even was the point of the India-Pakistan plot?
