"Logon ko laga serial ka EXTENDED version..." Rohitashv Gour on why Bhabhiji film FLOPPED

2026 has been bleak for Hindi movies except a small flicker in the form of Border 2 and the current gargantuan and continued success of Dhurandhar The Revenge. However, amidst all the obviously big releases, there was a huge swing being taken by the makers of a small screen hit TV show, Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai.

The makers of the show decided that it seemed like a good idea of turning their long-running hit TV sitcom into a feature film which led to the making of Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai - Fun On The Run. It starred regulars, Aasif Sheikh, Rohitashv Gour, Shubangi Atre and Vidisha Srivastava in the lead roles.

However, it is no secret that the film was outright rejected by not just the critics, who heavily panned the film but by the audiences as well. The film collected close to Rs 1.50 crores in its lifetime run and was a major box-office flop.

Recently, Rohitashv Gour, who plays the role of Tiwari ji in the show and in the movie was asked about the same by a media page, and he admitted the film's failure at the box office and also gave his take on the same as to why he feels the film flopped terribly at the box office.

Rohitashv Gour said, "I felt the reason was that the audiences have seen Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai so much on the television for so long, that they just didn't find it to be a good idea that you are converting this into a movie and putting it on the big screen. People possibly felt that the film is an extended version of the serial itself, which according to me, I am not sure what was people's interpretation of this but yes, it should be acknowledged that the people didn't accept the film. There was indeed hope and big expectations on the film but it is what it is."

While the film was a no go for people, the show continues to find a dedicated audience base which includes now on the digital front where Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain 2.0 airs and has Shilpa Shinde reprising her role as Angoori Bhabhi.
