okay, first off all, I haven't been following this show ever since Raghav got married to Pakhi. I just watched today's episode and saw that Kamla, yet again, raised her hand on Kalpi. If I'm not wrong, she did that in the past as well on the day of Raghav & Kalpi's engagement ceremony. I don't know who is wrong or right (in terms of the situation) and quite frankly I don't think its important either. I just feel slapping someone is like stripping them off their dignity and Kamla has done it openly in front of so many people at the engagement and now another attempt in front of Raghav. I mean, just imagine getting slapped in front of your boyfriend!
I get the whole 'parents have rights' thing blah blah blah, but seriously is there right such that they can hit their kids? Will that REALLY do any good? If anything, it'll just arouse feelings of bitterness, hatred and jealousy. And, Ek Mutthi is not the only serial in which this slapping your grown up kids happens, its prevalent in all Indian soaps and I can't express just how much displeasure I hold for something like this. I'm sure these soaps impact people. May be people don't take stuff from them at a conscious level but at a unconscious level it sends out a message to the Indian society or actually the viewers as a whole that slapping people is OKAY and especially your kids because you're trying to set them straight or because you have affection/ rights/ concern about them that can only be expressed through brutal slapping.
Also, generally speaking as well, slapping is THE TREND in our culture. I see girls slapping boys in Indian movies over trivial things. And, I'm not saying that you shouldn't slap anyone no matter what...I mean it depends... there are perverts who deserve them, but still slapping is an extreme step and it shouldn't be made the norm and definitely shouldn't be used anywhere, everywhere by anyone for anything. It's a serious thing. People can hold a grudge and it can lead to bigger things/ crimes even... Besides, its lame because how is a slap going to solve a problem?
Anyways, that's my opinion. Would certainly love to hear what you guys think :)
