But on second thoughts I do believe that we Indians excuse attitude in boys to some extent but not in girls..

I remember Prajakta Shukre from II1 ...she was a sweet innocent lil girl intially and she kept going to the next rounds easily...and in between she wore this sexy outfit and sang a sexy number and she was out in the next round!

Indian audiences also have a tendency to support the underdog...unlike American idol where talent is the criteria for voting mostly...with the exception of maybe a Sanjaya! 😆 that is because we as a nation still in the midst of finding an identity and confidence and we identify easily with a guy struggling to reach the top...rather than the person who is already there...
Just adding another angle..
Maybe this topic needs to go to DM...it has several layers to it! 😉

I was thinking of posting it on DM but then I thought many II members aren't active there so may be once we get many views here then we can ask a moderator to transfer it to DM.😊

Many who forgot lyrics were selected, some who sang horribly were selected too over good singers but most have problem only with Richa's selection after forgetting lyrics. It is like we have decided not to give her a second chance.

On the other hand we clearly saw what happened between Suhit and Charu and all the bleep words he used for her. Still most here find him with good attitude, consider him smartand heaping praises on him. I am shocked that Charu didn't even ask him to stop or respond to his bleep words. At the end she even said 'It's OK'. How can someone even justify usage of such bleep words under any circumstances?

Is it expected of girls to adjust to all situations and be meek and put on the best behavior and boys to show bad attitude and still get a huge fan following? There was another singer last season, Antara Mitra, who was accused of excess attitude and it booted her from the show. We seem tot have norms of behavior only reserved for girls.

Whythis bias 😔?

i still dont support richas behaviour neither suhits bleep words. forget his bleep words, he doesnt seem to be talented. he only has a cool personality. i hope people smell the coffee and vote for the talent

Nice points in both your posts 👏
Yea, even in AI, there are some exceptions. Talent is not always the criteria. People preferred to vote for Blake over a talented singer like Melinda. She was a better singer than Jordin too. Besides Sanjaya, Haley is another AI contestant who got more votes cos of her style, looks and dressing sense. Simon's controversial comments probably helped too.

More than guys vs girls, I also think its support for the underdog. Most of the contestants who have won in the past were not the favs to win it. Someone mentioned the small town hero mentality too months ago. I think thats another factor.

You think we II3 members aren't worthy of Maya's debate topics? 😭
