Basically its like this:
Sameer is a playful, sincere and loveable guy who isn't responsible at all. He doesn't do any work but loves his Bebe and his best friend Meher who he fights with a lot.
Meher is a sensible, smart girl who wants to go to canada and pursue further stuides. However, the pain of her life is Nimmy who is her stepmother. Her father is often influenced by Nimmy's talks against her and Bebe. She is really close to Sameer's Bebe, addressing her as Bebe. She considers Bebe her mum and wants Sameer to become responsible for her sake. She also has two step siblings, Minty and Balli.
Bebe is Sameer's mum and Meher's mothers best friend. Ever since Meher's mother passed away she considered Meher her own child and loves her as much as she loves Sameer. She runs a dhaba (small restaurant) in her village and has hoped that Sameer will become responsible one day.
Purab is Sameer's cousin who is in the army. As an army guy he is well respected and responsible. However, he is obsessed with Meher (who's spider senses tell her that he is a bas***d in the making) and wants to marry her at any cost. He hates the closeness between Sameer and Meher. His mother Channi hates Meher and thinks she is not good enough for her son while her husband is unaware of the entire situation... (what a dad)
Now the story so far:
Basically story starts with Sameer acting completely irresponsible and playing around and fighting with Meher while Meher and his Bebe urge him to grow up and be more responsible. Meher dreams of going to Canada while her father, Mangal, urged by his second wife Nimmy fills his ear about how Meher is constantly with Bebe and is being influenced by her in a negative manner. Purab constantly tries to get close to Meher and is angry at seeing Meher and Sameer being close all the time. As he is an army man he doesn't get to spend much time wooing Meher with his creepy ways (thank god!). However, he really hates Sameer who he thinks is a loser. He tells his mum, Channi, that he loves Meher and wants to marry her which shocks her into space. She absolutely refuses to get him married to Meher who she thinks is not good enough for her son.
Then Purab asks her to go to Meher's house and ask her father for her hand in marriage, while he goes back to his job. Channi seeing an opportunity to get rid of Meher, goes to her step mother Nimmy, who hates Meher, with a marriage proposal of a guy living in Canada. However, the guy is a divorcee who drives cabs in Canada. Hiding this fact from Mangal, her husband, Nimmy arranges the match between Meher and the guy called Ranveer. When Meher tries to fight this, Bebe is dragged into the whole mess as Nimmy accuses her of spoiling Meher. Bebe is sentenced by the panchayat to not be part of the marriage. This makes Meher and Bebe very sad.
Sameer becomes part of the wedding by helping out and welcoming Ranveer and his family. Meanwhile, Purab calls her mother and misunderstands the situation as the wedding being planned for him and Meher. Sameer tries to be the bridge between Bebe and Meher and tries to make Bebe part of the wedding indirectly. Initially happy for Meher as she gets to go to Canada, he soon starts to feel sad and upset watching the wedding preparations. On the other hand, Meher is also upset as Ranveer is not someone she wants to spend her life with. He hates India and is always complaining about indians while his mother warns him repeatedly not mess things up. Later, Sameer finds out that Ranveer is married to someone in Canada and he is marrying Meher to make her a servant in Canada. He tells Purab who realises that Meher is marrying someone else and asks Sameer to stop the wedding. On the wedding day, he tells the truth to everyone (without proof..duh! its a drama) and obviously no one believes him and Nimmy and Mangal insult him and Bebe. Seeing no choice, Sameer says he loves Meher which causes Ranveer and his family to break the marriage and they leave calling Meher a characterless girl.
Meher and Bebe are furious at Sameer as he ruined Meher's life. Bebe slaps him and throws him out while he implores he is telling the truth. Ranveer soon realises he loves Meher. He goes to Mangal and asks him to get Meher married to him. Mangal beats him up and tells him to get lost. Purab comes back and tries to get close to Meher who tells him that even though she is not talking to Sameer she still considers him her best friend and doesn't want to share her pain with him. Angry at this, Purab goes to Sameer who tells him that he loves Meher. Now furious, Purab tells Sameer to become responsible in order to make Bebe and Meher happy. He sends Sameer to his mentor in the army to train, thinking Sameer will always remain an idiot and will be away from Meher while he woos and marries her.
However, when Meher is thrown out of the house by Mangal and Nimmy who blame her for what Sameer said regarding his confession, Meher decides to leave the village. Knowing there is no choice, Purab traces Ranveer's first wife Lovely and brings her to Bebe and Meher. Lovely tells them about how Ranveer and his family lied to her brothers about them owning a cab business and having a child with her. She tells them she refused to sign the divorce papers so she is till his wife. Meher and Bebe realise Sameer was not lying and he saved Meher by breaking the marriage. Meanwhile, Sameer under the guidance of Avtar, is having a hard time adjusting to army life and Avtar is having a tough time adjusting to Sameer.. haha.
So now Sameer is training in the army. Bebe and Meher are not angry at him but don't go looking for him as Purab tells them that Sameer will come back if they show weakness. Wanting him to become responsible at last, Bebe and Meher decide not to see him. Purab tries to be a friend to Meher who can feel that Purab is creepy but his bearing with him... thats about as far the story has progresses... oh yeah Mangal also finds out Sameer was right and tries to bring Meher back home from Bebe's but Meher decides to stay with Bebe until Sameer comes back.
