As I understand it this is my take on Lord Krishna's take on Kuruskethra. If I am right as far as Bhisma goes he himself tells the Pandavas to keep Shikandi in front and fight as he will not fight Shikandi. So Pandavas used this shield with instruction from Bhishma. I guess Yudi and co visit Bhishma on 9th day of battle and ask how they can stop him. Then Bhishma tell is what I remember from Amar Chitra Katha.
Now coming to other Adharma. Kauravas did the first Adharma as 7 people surrounded and killed young Abhimanyu floating all rules of the battle. It was a brutal murder. Actually Krishna took Abhimanyu's death as a license to use Adharma on Kauravas as he was of the opinion that tolerating Adharma was also adharma and existing dharma cannot win against the all blowing adharma. So the message was adharmis cannot be bought down by dharma, you have to follow their path only.
Hence whether against Drona, Karna, Duryodhana everyone Krishna used Adharma. During the killing of Karna , Karna asks Krishna is it right to kill a disarmed warrior who is lifting his chariot's wheels.
To which Krishna replies did you think about dharma when you broke Abhimanyu's bow from behind. I would say that is the most poignant moment in whole MB.

Krishna's most actions were against existing societal norms and that is why it is always difficult to walk his path as mostly you will have to walk alone.
Coming to karna's kavach kundal Krishna didnt take them. It was Indra god father of Arjuna who fearing his son's life asked them from Karna. Actually Karna gets a warning about it in night by his own godfather Sun Lord. But Karna since he gives everything asked after morning prayer gives it.
In return for it Indra gives Shakthi which Krishna manages to make Karna use it on Bhim's son.
