After Sanjay Khanduri with Ek Chalis Ki Last Local, its Anurag Singh making a mark into bollywood with Raqeeb. Raqeeb is a suspense thriller, with lots of twists and turns.
The movie goes into flashbacks, and jumps back to the presents and by the time the conclusion arrives, the scattered pieces of the jigsaw puzzle fir in to give a clear picture of the main plotters mind games.
Remo (Rahul Khanna) is a niche businessman. His parents died in a car crash in his childhood. He since then is leading a secluded life, although he is a successful businessman. Sidharth (Sharman Johsi), is Remo's friend, employee and well wisher who boosts Remo to socialize and fixes up a blind date in Sophie (Tanushree Dutta) for him. Sophie is a theater professional and co incidentally her parents also died in the same car crash which claimed the life of Remo's parents. Sophie and Remo in sometime fall in love and then get married.
However, as Sunny (Jimmy Shergill) enters the scene, the story take a different route all together. He is passionate about Sophie, the old love is rekindled and they have an affair. Sophie and Sunny plan to kill Remo in such a way that it looks like a natural death. On the day of the plan's execution, Sophie plays another mind game. Remo is murdered and Sunny is arrested by cops.
If you are thinking that this is the end, hold back on your seats. There are more surprises in store. More skeletons will tumble out of the closet. I won't reveal the suspense here.
Talking about the performances, Tanushree, Rahul and Jimmy have done justice to their roles. Sharman is the show stealer. This lad is getting better and better with every movie.
'Raqeeb' isn't a path breaking film, but it does manage to hold your interest throughout its running time.
My Rating: 3.5/5
