Dreams And Desires!Madhu's phone buzzes and she hurriedly picks it up at the first ring.
"Ha bol Alu?" Madhu says happily thinking Aliya must have come up with something.
"Alu?" A lady says confused. Madhu bites her tongue at her stupidity.
"Opps! I am sorry.. Who are you?" Madhu says embarrassed.
"Are you Madhubala Malik?" Lady says trying to confirm if she was speaking to the right person.
"Ya! I am! Why?" Madhu says wondering how she knew her name.
"Miss. Malik, Scarlett Heather here, I am very happy to say that your designs have been selected at the International Fashion week.. It will be held in Mumbai in the month of July. We will get you the exact details later.. Do you want to participate?" The lady says in a business like tone.
Madhu was overwhelmed with happiness..
"Miss Malik are you on the line?" Miss. Heather asks wondering if she had heard all that she had said.
Madhu maintains her voice and says, "Yeah! I am here! Count me in!! Mumbai here I come!!"
"It will be better if you come here by May.. We will email you all the housing and other information!" Miss. Heather says in a authoritative tone.
"Thanks! Thanks a ton! Yippie!!" Madhu says excitedly
"Bye" Miss. Heather smiles hearing her excited voice.
"Byeee" Madhu says still excited.
Madhu cuts the call and jumps up and down on her bed and finally exhausted calls Aliya
"Madhu.. umm.." Aliya thinks of ways to change Madhu's mind from running away as she couldn't come up with something.
"Alu! Alu! Alu! I can't tell you how happy I am.. All my problems are solved! I am going to Mumbai! Yippie!!" Madhu says excited as ever.
"What? Mumbai?" Aliya asks confused.
Madhu narrates her everything and they both are excited about it..
"How I wish even I could come with you?" Aliya says dreamily.
"Why are you wishing when you have no other option other than coming with me?" Madhu says in a final decision tone.
"WHAT?" Aliya shouts.
"What What?" Madhu says in a calm tone trying to act innocent.
"I am not coming with you. You know, I can't" Aliya states as a matter of fact.
"You don't want to come with me? you don't like me right?" Madhu says in a sad tone.
"Please Madhu spare me! No emotional blackmailing please.." Aliya says knowing fully well what Madhu was trying to do.
"Leave it! You don't come.. No one in this world can understand me.. No one loves me.. I am all alone in this world.." Madhu says in a crying like tone
"Fine! I am coming!" Aliya says having no other option.
"Promise!?" Madhu asks her excitedly.
"Madhuuu..." Aliya tries to get out of it.
"No you have to promise me! Promiseee!!" Madhu says stubbornly.
"PROMISE!" Aliya says irritated.
"Yippie!" Madhu says happily and bursts out into laughter.
"YOU!! You are such a gimmick Madhu." Aliya says in an annoyed tone.
"Happy realization sweetheart!" Madhu says teasingly.
They both share a laugh.
"By the way when are we leaving?" Aliya questions her.
"umm.." Madhu says thinking about it.
"Yes!?" Aliya says wondering if she had decided the dates.
"21st May, 2014 at 02:00 am sharp.." Madhu says in a serious tone.
"02:00 AM?? Isn't that quiet early?" Aliya says.
"Nope!" Madhu happily says thinking that Aliya didn't opose her this time.
"Hmm.. 21st May comes when?" Aliya asks her wondering what date it was.
"Arre buddhu (fool) 21st March comes on 21st March!" Madhu says trying to avoid the question as she now understood why Aliya didn't object the date.
"Ohh! I am glad you told me.. You see I never knew that dumbo!" Aliya says sarcastically.
Madhu nervously laughs..
"What's today's date?" Aliya asks her.
"20th March!" Madhu says and closes her eyes tight waiting for her reaction.
"Hmm.. WHAT?" Aliya shouts.
Madhu tries to control her laughter and asks her in an innocent tone, "Now what happened Alu?"
"MADHU ARE YOU NUTS?" Aliya asks her still not believing her, who know maybe she was just kidding her?
"Nope! I am Madhu!" Madhu says as if she should have known that.
"Madhu! Please jokes apart." Aliya says irritated.
"Arre but still I am not nuts.." Madhu says which only gets Aliya more annoyed.
"Madhu when will you grow up? 21st May is tomorrow and you feel that my parents will allow me to come with you in such short notice?" Aliya says tired.
"I don't know anything babes! You had promised me." Madhu says not ready to give up.
"But Madhu.." Aliya says helplessly.
"No If's and But's please" The stubborn Madhu is back.
"FINE!" Aliya says.
"You angry with me?" Madhu asks her slowly.
"How much ever I try can I ever be angry with you?" Aliya says sighing.
Madhu laughs.
"But I don't understand one thing.. How come your parents allowed you?" Aliya asks her confused.
"Common girl! WE ARE ADULTS NOW!" Madhu tells her straight.
"But still! They were so hell bent to marry you off..." Aliya tries to know more about it.
"Not now Alu please.." Madhu says scared that she would come to know the truth now.
"WAIT! Did you even tell them about this?" Aliya asks her now understanding what was happening.
"I am feeling very thirsty.. We will talk later.. As it is I have to pack my bag.." Madhu says trying to avoid the question.
"Madhu! Answer me first!" Aliya says in a demanding voice. She wouldn't let Madhu do such stupidity.
"Yes!?" Madhu asks scared.
"Answer me!?" Aliya repeats herself again.
"I have told them.." Madhu says trying to make her voice sound genuine.
"You are not lying right?" Aliya says still not convinced.
"Why will I? Anyways Mommy is calling have to go.. Catch you later.." Madhu frantically tries to end the conversation. One more minute and the truth would be out.
"Madhu.." Aliya tries to stop her.
"Alu.. Bye" Madhu says hurriedly not giving her time to speak.
"Hunhh Bye!" Aliya says irritated.
Madhu cuts the call and mutters "Saved"
Madhu goes out and heads to someone's room.. The only person in the house who actually supported her. She didn't want to hide things from her before going.. She had to tell her everything at least. She prays to God to help her break the news to her.. News that she is running away from home.. News that she would no longer be here.
