wow, lovely post, really enjoyed reading about ur journey, i think u said everything so beautifully. i also saw the show backwards from the payash engagement time, a week at a time, but i was really connecting more with khushi and thought asr was a jerk. as i kept going back and back i got a new appreciation of barun the actor and of asr the character! i started seeing and empathising with his turmoil, even though i hated some of the things he said and did. and he intrigued me because i couldn't figure him out straightaway, he kept saying and doing things in direct contrast to how he was secretly feeling and i wanted to know why.
by the time i got to diwali i was in shock that i was watching a desi soap because the quality of the writing, directing, music, characterisations and acting was beyond my imagination. and the point when i started loving asr truly was during the pre-diwali and nainital track. because finally i could see what this brash, rude, arrogant man was really made of! so many have said this before that no-one is ever truly black or white, but playing those grey shades so realistically and with so much nuance is an art form that just became poetry in the hands of a skilled actor such as barun.i didn't think i would ever side with a person who locked a girl in a room, tore that girls dori, accused her of all sorts and made her miss her sisters wedding on their first meet! i cried for khushi but because i already understood the essence of asr's character by the time i watched the first episode, more than condemning his actions i was working out why he behaved in that way and trying to interpret the things he wasn't saying but that were clearly visible in his eyes even then! because he revealed asr's soul to us, his torment and what he was feeling pretty much every step of the way, it became about the girl AND the boys pain for me, not just the girls.i think the creatives did an amazing job crafting such a character and i think they were lucky to get an actor who instinctively managed to get inside this guys head and present him as human even when he was committing inhumane acts! and i guess i differ somewhat from u because even though i love asr, and especially the flirty version we got during payash's wedding, i was waiting to see what an asr truly in love would be like and i loved arnav - minus a few things which he would never ever have done. but yes i agree, asr is the most memorable and iconic character ever, even if i love arnavji just a little bit more 😳
