Chances for outsiders to make it in BW are one in a million, I guess. Planning right is therefore very important. One cannot expect to straightaway be launched in a big film unless he/she has some type of contacts or is willing to compromise. Of course there are casting directors but they will also give preference to a.) those who have some type of experience rather than a fresher out of acting school b.) Those who are from modelling. Most of the outsiders who have been launched by casting directors like Mukesh Chhabra, for example- Nawaz, Rajkumar Rao, Sushant, Amit Sadh, Richa Chaddha, the girl in Ranjhana (I forgot her name) and many others- all have experience in theatre, TV etc. Bhatts and YRF have given breaks to people from modelling world.

Therefore, doing theatre, TV or joining some really reputed institute like NSD or FTII is important. You have to jump at every little opportunity, make contacts, keep meeting casting directors, manage your finances really well, be in the know how of things etc.

Eventually in this industry, being SMART is more important than being TALENTED, IMHO. If you are smart as well as talented, you have a chance to make it. Of course, luck needs to favour you.

Anyways can't compare hollywood to bollywood.

Yea true...Honestly let's not compare holly to bolly!!! Hollywood base on more talent hollywood base on more power and name 😆

I hope they give more chance to the outsider!

I don't think he can ever make big now. The time is up. He won't be getting anymore single leads. Will be just part of a multi starrer from now on unless his friends like Goldy Bhel make another movie.

Still Ab Jr is better than others like fardeen khan, imran khan, uday chopra, etc. Atleast he can act.

by Nawaz do you mean nawazuddin siddiqui? Hands down, best actor in bollywood right now. I was seeing Munnabhai that day and was shocked to see that the person who tries to steal Late Sunil Dutt's wallet is nawazuddin siddiqui. I was like wow, the guy has been struggling since so so long.

Yes, Nawaz means Nawazuddin. He did theatre and even used to conduct workshops for actors debuting in films. Rajeev Khandelwal trained with him during Aamir.
Now that you mentioned it, I remember it too that Nawaz was in that scene. He has done bit roles in a lot of movies. I read one interview of his in which he said that he has played sidey in the villain's gang many times, and was supposed to take the blows of the hero. Therefore when in GOW, HE was the hero and supposed to kill everyone with two guns, he remembered his old days and poured all his pent up emotions of his struggle. That turned out to be one of the best scenes of the movie.

I'm glad that non-star actors are getting chances. There are other actors out there from tv also who are talented that don't get a chance. I hope all the non-star actors who are talented get noticed. But only the newcomers right now are the ones producers are taking in their movies. I hope others get a chance too.

No it won't be...The audience doesn't care if the Hero is a star kid or not...they will accept only if they like the actor...ya they will keep getting chances but the audience will keep rejecting them...examples...Imran Khan, Sohail, Arabaaz, Fardeen...Esha...but ultimately they have to give up because the producers won't put their money unless its a home venture...On the other hand we have star kids like Hritik, Aamir, Salman Sonakshi...these people are charismatic and the audience loves them...so I won't say they ruin BW...audience rejects them...

in this industry it depends upon which production house and team is backing u. The non star kids need a good platform to be launched on in order to be recognised, then they need support from that team even after their first film has released
