Raja told madhu to get ready and left the room . Madhu was exasperated by now . She was sick and tired of all these rituals . She wanted to escape from all these . She had decided that enough is enough . She will not sacrifice any innocent animal just for the pleasure of these people . She had already seen how cruel these people were . She also knew to what extent these people could go for their useless blind belief and stupid customs . She decided that she will go away from here . She could not stay here any more . She was almost choking in this place . Her one and only friend Raju was also lost forever . He will never come back . She also did not have any expectations from Raja . In this 2 days she had understood that Raja was just a puppet in the hands of his Dauji . She knew that she had to run away . But she had to do it very cautiously . No one should understand or get a whiff of her intentions . Right now she just had to play along . She had to do what she was told to . But once she gets a chance in the pooja she has to escape .
Thinking all this she started to get ready . She wore the sari that Raja had vrought for her . She put all the jewellery . Soon there was a knock at the door . " Bahu rani aap ke liye khana laayi hoon . Darwaza khol ke khana le lijiye " She understood that it was a servant . She was just following orders . Realizing that she was helpless just like her Madhu opened the door . The servant came in and kept the plate of food and went away . She closed the door and ate . She was feeling as if she was locked up in a cage . She had read of these type of villagers who were so regressive . But it was the first time she was seeing in her own eyes . She could not believe that she was among these type of people now . These people were so different . Their thinking was so backward . She felt that she was in a cage now . She missed her Dida and Bittu Mama Chacha dearly . She planned that once she got out of here she would somehow go to Mathura . Once she reaches there no one can take her any where else . She packed all her things and hid the suitcase well . After packing she prayed " Pyaare Kanha only u can help me now . Please show me the correct way . I want to go away from here . I cannot stay here any more . I feel suffocated here . Please help me . "
Later there was a knock at the door again " Rani i have to teach u something . U have to live here all your life so u have to learn how to use a gun " Madhu was just aghast . " No I do not want to even touch a gun " " Rani u do not understand . I will tesch u how to use a gun . That was u can always protect yourself . U do not know but 2 years ago some one had attacked me with a gun . That person had shot me from the back . So I had to go to the mental asylum and I had become mentally retarded . I do not want that to ever happen to u . So u need to know how to protect yourself . If not for your self then at leats for me Rani . Please " Madhu understood that Raja will not go without teaching her . She did not want to spend any more time with him . So she said " OK u can teach me " . Raja then kept a gun on the bed . " See this is the trigger . These are the bullets . This is the place where u keep all the bullets . Operating a gun is very easy . U just keep all the bullets here turn it and lock it . Then u just press on this trigger and fire . Easy isnt it ? " Madhu told " Yes quite easy it seems . But still I hope that I never have to use it " Raja said " Rani if any one ever looks at u with any wrong intention I will kill him . I am going now . I will send u the clothes u have to wear tomorrow . Good night . " Saying this he left . Some time later another servant came and gave her another set of clothes and jewellery .Thinking something Madhu kept the gun in her bag .
Next morning Madhu woke to Raja's voice " Rani come on . U have to do the sacrifice now . It is time for the ritual . Come down . " She answered " I am coming " . She did not want to argue with Raja any more now . She did not want any extra attention to herself . She came out of the room . All the family members had gathered at the cout yard . She came down the stairs and saw a horrific sight . A small goat cub was tethered to a pole . She was supposed to slaughter it . For a while she just wanted to shout at all the people . She wanted to tell them that this was just inhuman . But then she remembered that talking logic and sense to these people were like hiitng your head on a wall . Dauji told her " Bahu come quickly . Do u see this goat kid ? U have to kill it with a sword " Saying this he handed her a sword .
