Amrita Singh and her kids are beating the Mumbai heat in the cool climes of the North

Amrita Singh, who plays Vivek Oberoi's mother in Apoorva Lakhia's Shootout At Lokhandwala, will not be in the city when the film hits theatres this Friday.

Amrita is currently on a 10-day holiday in Kulu Manali with her kids Sara and Ibrahim.

Says Amrita, "My aunt lives in Manali in a big house. It's a joint family and there are lots of kids there, so Sara and Ibrahim can't wait to get there.

They're going to have lots of fun. They needed this break from Mumbai's sweltering heat."

Sight-seeing

Amrita has been a frequent visitor to Manali ever since she was a schoolgirl. "Since then, I've been visiting less frequently.

This time, I promised Sara and Inbrahim that I'd take them out of town during their summer vacation. So why not Manali, where they'll have ample company and won't get bored?" she says.

The holiday is not restricted to Manali only. "If time permits, I might take them to some other places from there.

But that will be difficult as once you meet your relatives, it's not easy to break free. But yes, we will go out in large groups and do a lot of sight- seeing," she says.

Ibrahim loves adventures and will indulge in mountain climbing in Manali. "Ibrahim is rough and tough, but Sara is different. She's a city girl," laughs the indulgent mother.

Amrita 'begum' no more?

FOR all those who are wondering if Amrita has dropped the title of begum from her name after her divorce from Saif Ali Khan Pataudi, this is what the actress has to say, "There was no 'begum' attached to my name.

"I was never married to a nawab. Saif is not a nawab, his father Mansoor Pataudi is."
